~Part 36~

Lol sorry it's been so long! Extra long chapter to make up for it!

Virgil was sitting in his class Monday morning and couldn't help but let his mind wander to the play, or particularly one moment. When Roman kissed him after the curtain closed. He remembered the feeling of Roman's warm lips on his, and his hands holding him so delicately. He felt his cheeks warm considerably and put his head down to hide it. Why the hell did he kiss me? And why the hell do I keep having to think so much about it? He felt his heart clench and buried his face in his arms even more. Damnit Roman don't you know what doing something like that would do to someone like me..? How do you expect me to know how to feel when you give me no answers...?

He couldn't push the thoughts of Roman out of his head and felt his eyes slowly close, the classroom fading around him.

-&-

Virgil woke up a few minutes later to see he was still in class the teacher was still lecturing, even though he just missed a big chunk of it he caught on pretty quickly to what she was saying. It was kind of strange, he felt like this lecture was far too similar to the one from Friday. He tried to ignore it though. He stretched a bit and the bell rang. Hm... guess I slept a bit longer than I thought... He calmly stood from his chair still feeling quite drowsy, but despite his heavy eyelids he grabbed his stuff and walked out into the hallway where many students were passing by.

"Virgil." Roman suddenly called gently grabbing his wrist, causing Virgil to jump slightly in surprise.

"Roman? What is it I have to get to class?" Virgil responded rubbing his eye.

"No you don't." Roman smirked a bit.

"Um, yes I do." Virgil looked at him strangely.

"No you don't, just come with me." Roman started to drag him down the hall.

"Wha-? Roman, where are we going?" The emo boy asked in pure confusion.

"We're leaving." He responded simply.

"Leaving? Where?" Virgil asked.

"School, to go to my place." Roman replied continuing to drag him.

"What? Roman no." Virgil stated firmly stopping, causing Roman to stop too, still holding onto his wrist. "We aren't going to your house, I have to go to class."

"Fine if that's how you want to be, we'll just do it here." Roman turned to face him.

"What are you talking abou-" Virgil was caught off guard when Roman suddenly grabbed his waist with both hands, pulling him close to his body, and connecting their lips together. Oh my god! Virgil's mind screamed at him. Roman's kissing me, in the middle of the hallway, in front of everyone! He surprisingly didn't feel as anxious as he thought he would, and whether out of shock or enjoyment just stood there and let Roman kiss him. He parted his lips a bit more as Roman pulled away for only a second to lean his head the opposite direction and pressing his lips against his once again. Virgil felt his eyes close, and his entire being melt as Roman deepened the kiss. What the Hell is happening? He thought.

-&-

"Virgil, Virgil wake up." Virgil heard a voice, but ignored it. Still at the sound of it he felt himself smile slightly. "Virgil!" The voice now yelled. "Wake up!"

Virgil suddenly flicked his eyes open, jolting awake and almost falling out of the chair at his desk, but catching himself before he did. He looked around to see he was back in the classroom, and blinked a few times in confusion. It was just a dream... He then looked to the person who woke him up and felt his cheeks flush over. "R-Roman?"

Said male chuckled. "Geez Virge, sorry for the rude awakening. What's the matter? You must have been having one hell of a dream."

Virgil looked around to find the classroom empty except for the teacher who was at her desk, ignoring the two of them as she graded papers. He came to the realization that the bell had already rang and started to gather his stuff together quickly. "What are you doing here? You aren't in this class." He sounded a bit more rude than he intended.

Roman scoffed a little, adjusting his bag on his shoulder, and tried to ignore the other's attitude. "I was looking for you and saw you through the door while passing by and decided to wake you up. You're welcome."

Virgil had gotten everything into his bag and slung it over his shoulder, hopping out of his chair and pushing it in. "Why were you looking for me?"

"I wanted to ask you to get coffee after school to celebrate doing so well in the play." Roman responded as they started walking toward the exit of the classroom.

"Why?" Virgil asked. "Aren't we all getting together tomorrow to watch the recording of it?"

"Yes, But I wanted something a bit more special. Come on?" Roman asked. "I'll pay, and give you a ride."

"I guess if I don't end up having anything better to do later I'll let you know." Virgil stated coldly.

Roman let out a laugh, stepping in front of Virgil and blocking him form leaving the classroom by suddenly placing his arm across the doorway, and standing in front of him.

Virgil stopped, feeling his heart speed up considerably at their closeness. He suddenly thought back to kissing him, and let his gaze fall to the floor.

"Must you be so stubborn all the time?" Roman was smirking down at him, lowering his voice to just above a whisper. "I'll meet you in front of the theater after the last bell okay?" Virgil didn't respond so he moved his head even closer, causing the shorter to shrink down a bit more. He tried to look at his face, but Virgil was keeping it hidden down. He felt his smirk grow fading away from being simply for the means of teasing. "Okay?" He asked a bit sterner this time.

Virgil's grip on his bag tightened slightly, he could hear his heartbeat in his head now and the warmth from his cheek now reached all the way up to the tips of his ears. "Mhm..." he responded nodding his head up and down slightly.

"Good." Roman smiled proudly.

"Boys, get to class now. Don't linger in my doorway." The teacher finally acknowledged them.

"Sorry mam." Roman apologized before looking back to Virgil once more, slowly removing his arm from the door and walking away.

Virgil watched him leave before taking a deep breath. He tried not to think about it too much as he rushed to get to his next class.

-&-

"Do you require a ride again since presently there are no longer play practices being held?" Logan asked Virgil as they were at their lockers after the last class of the day.

"Um, don't you ride with Patton now?" Virgil replied. "I don't want to interrupt your time with your boyfriend."

"It isn't a problem to drop you off before." Logan responded. "I know how much riding a crowded bus can affect your condition in a negative status, Patton wouldn't mind."

"Thanks, but actually today I'm okay. I have a ride." Virgil explained.

"With whom?" Logan asked seeming curious.

"Um... Roman asked me to get coffee with him." Virgil replied causing Logan to raise a brow at him. He sighed. "To celebrate the play going well, nothing more."

Logan nodded his head not seeming to believe him, but before he could say anything Patton ran up to them looping his arm through his boyfriend's. "Logan! I missed you today." He leaned his head on his shoulder. "Are you ready to go?"

"I am." Logan nodded closing his locker and picking up his bag.

"Is Virgil coming with us?" Patton asked happily.

"No he has alternate means of transportation." Logan explained fighting off a teasing smile.

"Oh, okay, bye bye Virgil." Patton waved.

"See ya Patton." Virgil responded watching the couple as they walked off. He then slowly turned around taking another deep breath before making his way to the theater.

When he did Roman was already there leaning on the frame between the two large doors. When he saw him coming he smiled and stepped in front of him. "You ready?"

Virgil tried to push back his nerves upon once again seeing him. "Yeah." He replied simply.

Roman took the bag off the shorter's shoulder, carrying it for him as he turned toward the exit. "Then let's go."

Virgil was confused by his action, but followed him anyway.

-&-

The two boys were now at the coffee shop sitting across from each other, and their drinks had just arrived. They thanked the waitress before starting to drink their coffee.

Roman suddenly stood taking his cup with him and moving to the other side of the table to sit in the same booth as Virgil, being sure to move quite close. "The suns in my eyes." He used the excuse, settling into his new seat.

Virgil looked at him like he was somewhat crazy. Is he flirting with me, or just trying to be annoying. He tried to ignore it. "So why did you just invite me what about the others?"

Roman seemed taken aback by the question. "Oh, um... because you were my other lead role, so I wanted to treat you." He rubbed his thumbs across his coffee cup.

"Do you do this for anyone who plays the lead with you?" Virgil asked bitterly.

"No... not always." Roman responded somewhat quietly. "I'm kind of hungry, are you? We should get a dessert." He changed the subject and politely called the waitress back over before Virgil could say anything else.

She came over, noticing his change in seating and smiled at the two of them before responding. "Can I get you something else?"

"Yes I'd like a slice of cherry pie. Virgil would you like anything?" He asked, looking to his friend.

"No I'm fine." He stated quietly.

"Are you sure? I'm buying." Roman asked again to be sure.

"I'm sure." Virgil responded finding his cheeks heat up slightly for some reason.

"Just the pie then." Roman smiled and the waitress nodded before walking off.

There was a small comfortable silence before she came back with the dessert and placed it in front of him. "Here you go."

"Thank you. He responded quickly, taking a bite as she went to wait on another customer. "Mm it's really good. Want a bite?" Roman asked gathering a bit of crust and the filling on the fork and offering it to him.

Virgil looked at the fork and then Roman, feeling his heart speed up. "I'm okay." It wasn't even that he didn't want it, he was just nervous to accept, and was afraid he was showing it too much.

Roman frowned. "Come on, you're so thin, and I never see you eating much. I'm worried. Besides one bite won't kill you."

Virgil looked back at the food. He had to admit it did look appetizing. "Okay fine, just a little."

Roman seemed satisfied with his answer, smiling and holding the fork closer to him.

Virgil looked at him strangely again before leaning down to eat it, but Roman moved the fork away before he could bite it, causing Virgil to succeed in nothing except moving closer to him. Said boy huffed in annoyance causing Roman to laugh.

"Alright Alright I'm just messing with you, I won't do it again, here." He offered the fork again.

Virgil looked at him with distrust before slowly leaning down and eating the food from the fork. He pulled away chewing as the sweet and slightly tart taste of the cherries mixed with the very slightly salty taste of the crust. "Mm." He swallowed the pie nodding. "It's very good."

Roman smiled, releasing a small genuine laugh that Virgil couldn't help but find very attractive. The taller then used his thumb to gently brush away a bit of food Virgil had on the corner of his mouth. "You really are a terribly messy eater aren't you?"

Virgil was slightly shocked by the sudden touch to his lips and found himself unable to speak.

Then to his surprise, instead of wiping his thumb on the napkin he was provided Roman placed it in his mouth, sucking the food off of it before going back to eating his pie.

"How'd you even know how thin I am, I always wear baggy clothes." Virgil pointed out, trying not to think about what just happened.

"I noticed when you were changing into your costume." Roman answered simply.

Virgil was completely taken aback by the answer, and how nonchalant it seemed. "Were you watching me?"

"What??" Roman asked I surprise. "No of course not, but all the guys changed in the same area so I just so happened to notice." He felt his cheeks gain a rare blush. "Jesus what kind of person do you think I am?"

"Well I don't know... it just sounded strange." Virgil defended quietly.

"Besides." Roman chuckled suddenly finding his confidence to flirt come back. "If I really wanted to see your body, I'd just ask."

Virgil couldn't help but feel his chest want to explode. Sure this all could just be Roman being well... Roman, But Virgil's crush on the other male made them seem so much more special. He was so confused by their whole relationship he almost felt like screaming...

-&-

"This is not the way to my house." Virgil stated as they were driving after finishing their coffee.

"I know because I'm taking you to my house." Roman replied.

Virgil suddenly remembered his dream from before and blushed. "No!" He shouted, surprising both of them. He lowered his voice. "I want to go home."

Roman clicked his tongue. "Come on my dad's in Florida and my mom has a late meeting today. I'll be all alone and I'm lonely. Just for a bit? Please?"

The thought of them being alone freaked Virgil out more. "I don't know..."

"Please?" Roman begged again making a sad face while looking at the road.

Virgil sighed, as much as he hated admitting it, he hated seeing him sad even more, even if he was being fake and overdramatic. "Fine, just for a little bit, I don't want my mom to get the wrong idea."

Roman automatically perked up. "What kind of idea?"

"Nothing just focus on the road." Virgil crosses his arms, looking out the window.

-&-

They arrived at Roman's house a few minutes later, and Roman automatically went to the kitchen and brought them both glasses of water, sitting on the couch and gesturing for Virgil to join him. He did slowly sitting on the couch at a safe distance and widened his eyes when Roman shifted closer. The sudden realization of the fact that they were now alone in Roman's house started to really sink in, and he couldn't help but think back to his dream making him even more nervous. He grabbed his glass of water, drinking from it, trying to distract himself even if just a bit.

He did this a bit too quickly however and as he brought the cup down a bit of the water splashed back in his face, taking him by surprise.

Roman laughed at this. "You dork, slow down it's not going anywhere." He then used his hand to wipe the water off, gliding it down Virgil's nose and across his cheek.

The spark created by the touch set Virgil off and he quickly placed the cup back down, getting of the couch. "D-don't!" He said louder then he meant.

Roman was surprised by his sudden outburst. "Okay, I'm sorry." He stated standing too "but jeez calm down a bit."

"No!" Virgil continued to yell before turning around, and walking towards the front hall. "I wanna go home, I shouldn't have come."

"What we just got here?" Roman quickly followed him. "What's wrong with you?"

"This!" Virgil responded stopping and turning toward him suddenly, causing Roman to have to quickly freeze in his tracks. "You! Just all of it, I don't want this!" He started to walk away again.

"Want what?!" Roman yelled grabbing the others wrist and forcing him to turn back toward him, grabbing his shoulders somewhat roughly, but not in a way that hurt him. He was getting frustrated by Virgil not making sense.

Virgil was frightened for a moment, but quickly tried to gather back his courage. "This!" He ripped himself out of Roman's grip. "The teasing and the flirting, the smirks, sarcastic laughs and casual touching! I'm not playing your game! I don't want you to mess with me anymore!" He started towards the door again.

Roman ran in front of him before he could open it. "Okay I'm sorry if me touching you in anyway made me feel uncomfortable, but I'm not playing with you and I'm not just trying to mess with you!"

"Please." Virgil scoffed. "All you've ever done is mess with me."

"That was in the past!" Roman defended. "Besides I've never done anything like flirting to just mess with you."

"You flirt with everyone." Virgil rolled his eyes.

"I... flirt with a lot of people yes, but not everyone, and I haven't been doing it lately." He explained.

"Please, am I supposed to just believe you?" Virgil crossed his arms. "We've been in high school for two and a half years and how many people have you 'dated'?"

"That's because I never felt serious with them." Roman stated.

"That's my point!" Virgil raised his voice again. "You never take it seriously! Feelings aren't something you can just play with at will! You can't just seem interested, and then flake out later!"

"I admit that I haven't been one hundred percent committed in most of my relationships, but that is why I ended them. And besides that is not the case here." Roman tried to reason with him.

"I don't buy it..." Virgil remained stubborn.

"I'm being honest!" Roman said desperately. "I'm not messing with you."

"How am I supposed to believe you?? How can you possibly prove it to me?!" Virgil asked. At this point his emotions were so out of control he didn't even know what he was so angry for.

"BECAUSE I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU YOU IDIOT!" Roman yelled as loud as he could, taking the other by complete surprise. "My GOD are you THAT oblivious?! I've been in love with you since ELEMENTARY SCHOOL! Why do you think I always went out of my way to tease you? Use your brain, If I actually hated you I'd try to avoid you! And all those people I dated, I did it to try and get over YOU! I wanted to try and fall for someone else, so my feelings for you would go away, but it didn't work! It never worked! I try I really do, but I can't stop myself from thinking about you almost ALL THE TIME! So no I'm not just messing with you, because you're the only GODAMN person I've ever felt serious about in my life!" He finished and was left panting slightly. He seemed to realize all he had just said and sadness took over his expression.

Virgil stood there watching him in utter shock. "Love...?" He couldn't help but question out loud.

"Virgil please..." Roman took his shoulders again, this time more gently. "Please you have to take me seriously. I can't do it anymore... I want to be with you. Please..." he seemed to be fighting off tears now, and was visibly failing. "Say you love me back..."

"I-I..." Virgil stuttered nervously. "I can't just say that. I've never been in love before. I don't even know what love is..."

The answer seemed to break Roman even more. He hung his head.

"B-But I do like you!" Virgil made sure to clarify. "And not just as a friend, it's... stronger than that."

"So what do you want me to do Virgil?" Roman asked sadly.

What do I want him to do? Virgil thought to himself. I-I don't know. His confusion was frustrating him as well. He sighed in annoyance. "Kiss me!"

Roman looked at him in confusion. "What?"

Virgil felt himself blush, he tried to say it again as confidently as he had before, but his voice came out small. "Kiss me..."

Roman looked at him for a second, as if confirming his request, before closing his eyes and leaning down to press their lips together.

Virgil closed his eyes as well, an overwhelming feeling washing over him as their lips moved together. He completely lost track of time, and the space around him. All he could feel, smell, see, and taste was Roman. His senses were completely taken over. He was left in a slight haze when Roman pulled away slightly, still leaving their foreheads pressed together. Virgil opened his eyes meeting his gaze. Despite his overwhelming nerves he managed to move his shaking hands to grab Roman's, moving them from his shoulders to hold around his waist. He then moved his own arms around the other's neck, pulling himself up closer. "Again..." he whispered connecting their lips again. He found himself lost in the moment, almost thinking it was a dream again, but it wasn't, he could tell, this time felt real. It was more than he could even think about wanting before.

Roman suddenly tightened his grip around the shorter, lifting him up and forcing him to have to wrap his legs around him in order to not fall.

Virgil was surprised by the action and opened his eyes for just a moment, but their lips never separated for more than half a second. He too tightened his grip, pulling himself up more, so they were at a more comfortable angle. He was suddenly coming to the realization that Roman had been far more desperate for this than even he was. "Mm?" He made a noise of surprise as Roman suddenly moved forward in the hall, placing him down on a somewhat low hutch so he was siting on top of it, causing a few items that were on top of it to topple to the ground. He had to remove one of his hands from Roman's neck and grab his shoulder instead to steady himself.

Roman pulled away from the kiss leaving both of them panting considerably. "Virgil..." he whispered breathlessly, meeting his eyes once again. "Be my boyfriend? I can't spend another day without you being mine." He closed his eyes again and leaned their foreheads together, slowly brushing their noses together a few times.

Virgil was still trying to catch his breath. His heart was beating so fast he thought it'd fly out of his chest. He felt his face and ears remain hot and his head still seemed to be in a slight haze. The places where Roman touched him felt like they were sparking with surges of electricity. He took a deep breath watching Roman for a moment before moving his hand up to gently entangle with the hair on the back of his neck. "Okay... I want to try this."

Roman smiled brightly at that, hugging him tightly. "Thank God." He muttered into the crick of his neck. "I was so worried you'd say no." He then pushed Virgil back against the wall behind him and kissing him again.

Virgil kissed back, letting Roman completely take over him once again. He didn't even think about how weird and somewhat sudden this whole afternoon had been, or how insane it was that he was now dating his long time rival, because right now he was so overcome with happiness nothing else seemed to matter.

Hey guys, whew! That was a long and emotion filled chapter. Like damn you see why it took me so long lol. Sorry again XD I would have had this up, but I fell asleep and then had plans to go shopping with my best friend so.... blame her. Lol (jk if you are mean to her I'll kill you lmao). Anyways! I hope you liked this part. If you don't like kissing, sorry lol but as you can tell they aren't taking things as slowly as Logan and Patton, oof. Tell me your thoughts, and any predictions you may have. Vote and comment, bye!
