~Part 16~
*sigh* Roman Roman.... that's all I'm gonna say.
Virgil was walking down the hall at the beginning of the day towards his class when a sight caught his eyes. Usually he'd just keep walking, but the particular two people he saw made him stop and watch.
It was Roman and he had Patton against the lockers, staring at him closely.
Virgil felt a sense of pain he didn't understand spark through him. Weird I thought they were just friends. He thought, but was still confused by how he was feeling. He shook his head and kept walking. Why the hell do I care?

Virgil sat in the theater after school as everyone started to arrive. He was slouched down in one of the chairs feeling annoyed as ever. He'd seen Roman and Patton hugging as they left, and that made his constant bad mood worse. Stupid Roman. What the hell is wrong with me, he can do whatever he wants with whoever he wants, why would I care?
"Hey Virg." Roman himself greeted plopping down in the seat next to him.
The paler boy didn't respond and just stared in the opposite direction.
"Tch." Roman clicked his tongue. "What's your deal?"
Virgil continued with his silent treatment. He was honestly afraid if he spoke to him he'd just end up snapping, and it would do more bad then good.
"ALRIGHT PEOPLE PLACES!" Ms. Chance called throughout the theater.
Virgil simply got up and started walking toward stage.
"Hey." Roman started, trying not to lose his patience and grabbing his wrist both of them stopping mid isle. "What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing." Virgil replied simply, ripping his hand away.
Roman couldn't help but notice that he was being ten times colder to him than usual. "What? Are you mad at me or something?"
"I'm not mad!" He snapped turning on his heal to face him.
"Oh really?" Roman asked amongst a chuckle although he didn't really seem amused. Sarcasm laced his voice. "You sure fooled me."
Virgil scoffed. "Look I don't have time to deal with a clueless moron right now."
Roman flinched at that his voice now growing a bit angrier, and a little louder too. "Seriously dude, What's your problem?"
"You ar-" Virgil started before he was cut off.
"GUYS!" It was Erin, and she did not look amused. "Knock it off."
"Fine." Roman shrugged. "Just tell that to Mr. Grumpy over here."
"Since you two refuse to get along, follow me." She replied and then started walking toward the stage.
The two glared at each other before following. They walked around the stage to the back area.
Erin opened the door to the prop closet, turned on the light, and stepped inside gesturing for them to follow.
They did.
"Why did you bring us here?" Virgil asked.
Just as he did she quickly stepped out and closed the door.
They heard the click of a lock.
"Erin?!" Roman yelled through the door, pounding it with his fist a few times. "This isn't funny. Let us out!"
"Not until you two start getting along!" Her voice came through from the other side. "Think of it as a... bonding exercise! For the good of the play!"
"She can't be serious..." Virgil trailed off.
"Oh she definitely is." Roman growled. "Which means we're stuck in here." He crossed his arms and leaned against the only bare spot of the wall in the cluttered closet full of props and costume pieces.
"Great." Virgil stated sitting on a large purple trunk.
-&-
After a bit of silence, desperately asking to be let out, and being refused, the boy's were still in the closet together.
"Alright this is getting us nowhere." Roman said in defeat. "So why are you so upset."
"I'm not." Virgil said again.
"Of course, yeah obviously you're not." Roman said sarcastically throwing his arm up in the air. "Thanks for nothing."
Virgil scowled, and there was another short amount of silence. "So when did you and Patton get together?"
"What??" Roman asked in surprise. He couldn't help but find the statement amusing and chuckled a bit. "Never. We're just friends. Jeez... What would give you that idea?"
Virgil felt a bit of the tension in his chest release. "Well... I don't know... you two seemed pretty comfortable this morning by your lockers."
"Oh that?" Roman asked casually. "I'm just trying to get Logan jealous so he can admit to his extremely obvious feelings for Patton."
"You're What?" Virgil asked in surprise, the tension now completely breaking off.
"Well yeah." Roman shrugged. "I mean Logan so obviously likes him."
"Whe- ah- clearly yes, but that's seriously what you were doing?" Virgil asked standing now.
"Yeah." Roman replied like it was obvious. "I may love Patton, but not in that way man."
"Oh..." Virgil trailed off.
Roman then suddenly chuckled his voice taking on a teasing undertone. "What? Where you jealous or something?"
Virgil felt his cheeks warm slightly. "No!" He snapped defensively.
"Alright geez I was kidding." Roman put his hands up in surrender. "So what then, were you just really in a bad mood earlier?"
"Yeah..." Virgil trailed off. "Something like that..."
"Well that's fine, just don't take it out on me man." Roman started sounding a little annoyed, but Virgil noticed there was a bit of hurt in his eyes.
"I'm sorry..." he apologized quietly.
"What?" Roman asked raising a hand to his ear.
"Shut up, its a small space I know you heard me." Virgil rolled his eyes sitting back down.
Roman laughed at that. "Ha! Yeah I did, just couldn't believe my ears is all."
"Is that laughter I hear in there?" A voice called from the other side of the door. "Have you two finally stopped arguing?"
"Yeah..." Roman sighed in exasperation.
The door swung open revealing a smiling Erin. "Great, Finally! Now we can move in with practice. Charlie and Aaron are on stage now, so let's see what's a scene the two of you can practice..?" She flipped through the script. "Ah, how are you doing with scene 70?"
"We've practiced it a bit." Roman replied no one questioning why they all hadn't left the closet yet.
(I swear I'm not trying to make all these closet jokes XD)
"All of it?" Erin asked. "Even the kiss?"
"Well uh..." Roman trialed off rubbing his neck nervously. He let his eyes land on Virgil before looking away again. "No not the kiss."
"WHAT??" She exclaimed. "That's one of the most important things to practice, it has to look natural on show night!"
"We just... didn't get around to it." Virgil replied.
She sighed. "No matter, better late then never."
"Wait you want us to do it now??" Roman asked.
"Yes right now, here." She nodded like it was obvious. "Here I'll evaluate. She sat down on a bucket. "Go on start from just a bit before the kiss. Come on places, action, let's get to it."
Roman, knowing she was serious sat down next to Virgil on the trunk. "Fine..."
Virgil was trying to pull himself together as they prepared. You can do this, it's just a kiss, a stage kiss, with Roman... oh God help me please!
"Eliphas..." Roman trailed off taking Virgil's hand as the script said to do.
Virgil tried to keep his demeanor calm. "What's the point... even if the endless slaughter stops we'll never be treated the same. People will always hate us..."
"That isn't true, with some time-" Roman started.
"Time isn't enough. Just look at the way you reacted when you first met me, and that's one of the better first impressions I've had..." Virgil shook his head. "People aren't going to change."
"I did." Roman pointed out. "I will admit my past opinions on your people weren't great. Don't get me wrong I'd never wish you dead! But I admit a lack of respect was there, and I apologize. Ive learned things, things I never would have even guessed if I hadn't had this journey with you." He smiled at him.
"You're just saying that because you feel guilty." Virgil frowned feeling nerves form in his stomach already. "You don't really mean it."
Roman gently placed a hand to his cheek. "No... I mean it."
"How am I possibly supposed to believe that?" Virgil asked shaking his head.
"Do you want me to prove it?" Roman whispered leaning in closer.
Virgil nodded. The final cue.
Roman let his hand slide a little past Virgil's cheek to the back of his neck, pulled his head forward gently, and tilted his own head to the side a bit.
Virgil closed his eyes trying to keep cool over the rush of energy flowing through him, his rapidly beating heart, and the heat in his cheeks. He could feel Roman's warm breath in his lips now, and it made him want to shutter, but he held it back. He could smell Roman's sent now as well. It was an oddly familiar sent. Like the kind you would smell, and automatically find comfort in because it brought back some good emotion. Virgil had never noticed his fondness of it till now... finally he felt the other's lips press against his.
Slowly and softly almost like he was afraid he'd offend him somehow.
Virgil returned the kiss applying a little more pressure to make it feel a bit more intimate as their lips moved together slowly
Even though in all reality it was only about 10 seconds, it felt like a half hour before Roman pulled away, and their eye-lids both opened to meet each others gaze.
"Wow!" Both boys were snapped out of it by Erin's clapping. "Good job you two, that looked really real. You two are naturals!" She complimented with a smile. "Now come on let's join the others."
They all stood and left the closet, heading towards the outer theater area again.
Roman was uncharacteristically quiet as he nervously looked away from Virgil hiding a darkening blush as the realization of what he just did started to sink in.
Virgil still felt his lips tingling, and an exhilaration in his veins. Oh my God... he thought to himself. I like Roman...
Hey guys, I should be asleep lol. I hope you liked the new part! YAAYY they kissed! I love these two tbh. Tell me what you thought. Vote and comment, bye!
