Wangji and Wei Ying had turned fourteen and were to get their own personal swords. Xichen got Shuoyue back when he was fourteen and he was happy to have his sword back. The thing with Gusu Lan, is that the disciples have the option to pick a sword from the sword hall, have one handed down from a family member, or they can have one custom made by a blacksmith and the disciple can have a hand in making it along side the blacksmith. Wangji's sword was Bichen, a sword that was picked out by Qingheng Jun and Madam Lan before they were separated. It was similar to Xichen as Shuoyue was picked out by his parents. Wangji was happy to have his Bichen back.

As for Wei Ying, he wanted to be able to have a hand in making his sword. Lan Qiren figured Wei Ying would be the type of person to be hands-on with making his sword. He wasn't necessarily sure how his sword was passed down to him in his past life, but in this life, he was making it with the help of a professional blacksmith.

The first thing Wei Ying had to do was make a drawing or design of his sword. Then making sure he has the right materials, he starts with heating the metal to 2200°F (1204.4°C). Then it's all about shaping the sword. Keeping it balanced and able to handle hard hits. The sword looked like his sword from his past life and even named it the same, Suibian.

Now that they had their swords, Wangji said that Baoshan would soon be expecting them as she would help them train before the war began. It was something Baoshan said before she sent them back in time. At the moment, Lan Qiren was setting up lesson plans for the guest lectures that were happening later in the year. Wei Ying, and Wangji, were helping him where they could. Lan Xiang and Lan Xichen were tending sect leader duties and were out for a conference meeting. They'd return in a few days. As Lan Qiren was working, someone knocked at his door. He got up and answered.

"Hello, Qiren," a woman greeted with a smile.

"Baoshan? What brings you here?" Lan Qiren asked.

"I came to check on things," she said, "aren't you going to let me in?"

Lan Qiren moved aside and let her enter. Baoshan immediately spotted Wei Ying in the other room. She smiled knowing that she was able to see her grandson, "A'Ying, someone is here to see you," Lan Qiren said.

Wei Ying set his brush down and went to introduce himself, "Hello, I am Wei Ying, courtesy, Lan Wei Ying."

"I know," Baoshan said and knelt down to his level, "my name is Baoshan Sanren. Has your mother told you about me?"

Wei Ying nodded, "you are my grandmother and grand master. You taught my mother all that she knows. She is a good fighter. I want to be like her when I am older."

Baoshan smiled, "I am sure you will be and more," she said, "I am here to collect you, Wangji and Xichen as I have been set to train you when you turned fourteen."

"What kind of training?" Wei Ying asked.

"Skills that I taught your mother when she was your age, and skills that will be useful in the future. I know I could have helped you sooner but I wanted you to know what a family was like outside of our blood. You seem to have gotten a good one here, A'Ying," Baoshan said.

"I love them very much, and my A'Die is very kind," Wei Ying said, "if I go train with you, would I come back?"

"You would," Baoshan said, "as you are my grandson, you are able to visit when you please. Just do not bring strangers to my home."

"I will not," Wei Ying said, "when did you want to leave?"

"We can leave tomorrow as it will give you and the other two boys time to pack up what you need. You will only be gone for a few months," Baoshan said, "you will be back in time for the guest lectures that are being hosted here."

"Okay," Wei Ying said and looked at Lan Qiren, "speaking of, can I go find Lan Zhan and let him know?"

"You can, he should be at the library," Lan Qiren said.

"Okay, see you soon A'Die, and I am glad to see you, Wai Po," Wei Ying said with a bow before he left the room.

"He looks healthy and happy," Baoshan said, "I take it he is doing well in this lifetime?"

"He is, and my nephews have been very protective of him, especially when we go to conference meetings," Lan Qiren said, "Jiang Fengmian now knows Wei Ying is here. He has written to me a couple times now asking to meet him. I have refused him every time. I don't trust him. Now that I know what he put A'Ying through last time, I can't let him alone with A'Ying."

"You are smart not to trust him," Baoshan said, "if he wants to meet him, he only wants one thing, and that is protection for his children. He may have said he cared for A'Ying back then but it was only to keep his kids alive. He let his wife abuse him verbally and physically. A'Ying does not need to be around that type of behavior a second time."

"He feels he has a right to meet him once as he knew A'Ying's father," Lan Qiren said.

"I think I'll have to pay him a visit, if he wants to meet A'Ying, he has to go through me first," Baoshan said.

"Just let me know if you need any assistance," Lan Qiren said.

"I will," she said, "I will be back tomorrow to get the boys. They will be back here a couple months before guest lectures begin."

"Very well," Lan Qiren said, "Lan Xichen is out for a few days but I can send a message to my brother that you are coming to collect him."

"I will go speak with him next," With that said, Baoshan left by teleporting out of the sect. As for Wei Ying, he found Wangji at the library as expected.

"Lan Zhan," Wei Ying said happily as he entered the library, "you'll never guess who I just met not long ago."

"If I guess correctly do I get a reward?" Wangji asked.

"What kind of reward?" Wei Ying asked.

"A hug from you," Wangji said.

"Even if you don't guess it correctly I'd still hug you if you want one," Wei Ying said as he sat beside him.

"Then are you going to tell me who came?" Wangji asked.

"My grandmother was here," Wei Ying said, "she wants you, your brother, and I to go back to her mountain to train. She will be back tomorrow to take us there."

"What is she like?" Wangji asked. He already knew but he didn't want to give that away.

"She is nice, and she seems like she is very powerful," Wei Ying said, "though I don't have much memories of my mother left, I can tell Baoshan is my grandmother."

"I am happy for you," Wangji said.

Wei Ying smiled, "do you still want that hug?"

"Please?" Wangji asked.

Wei Ying giggled and hugging Wangji. He always felt a sense of security and warmth whenever he hugged Wangji. He felt in his heart that there was so much more to Wangji and him than he might think. He just didn't want to make assumptions and ruin his relationship with Wangji. He was starting to understand what these feelings meant and he was afraid Wangji would not feel the same way.
