A small ceremony was held for Wei Ying. Inside the Orchid room, Wei Ying stood up front with Lan Qiren. Lan Qiren held a new forehead ribbon, one that signifies that he was part of the bloodline family even though he was adopted.
"Wei Ying, I name you my new son, giving you the courtesy name, Lan Wuxian. Your birth name will remain but you have a new name to let you know you are now a member of this family," Lan Qiren said as he tied the ribbon around his head.
As tradition, Wei Ying also had to recite the three thousand rules but he passed that easily. Though Wei Ying was Wangji's soulmate, this was, at the moment, a way to secure his stay within the Lan Sect, a place to call family and home. Lan Wangji was actually happy that Wei Ying was accepted into the sect in this way.
"Welcome to the family, A'Ying," Lan Xiang said.
"Do I call you uncle now?" Wei Ying asked.
"Of course," he replied, "and you can call my brother your father."
Wei Ying looked at Lan Qiren, "Father," he bowed, "I will do my best for this sect as your son."
Lan Qiren smiled and patted his head, "you are already doing that," he said, "now, why don't you go spend time with Wangji and Xichen."
"Yes, Father," Wei Ying said and went to join Wangji and Xichen at a nearby table, "hi."
"Hello, A'Xian," Xichen said, "you can call me Da-Ge if you want."
"I would like to," Wei Ying said and looked at Wangji, "can I call you Er-Ge?"
"You can," Wangji agreed, even though being called Er-Ge by Wei Ying brings back some...interesting memories.
"What about Angel?" Wei Ying teased.
Wangji narrowed his eyes, "whatever Wei Ying wants."
Wei Ying leans closer to Wangji, "Whatever I want?" He asked, "do you always want to give me my way?"
"Within reason," Wangji answered.
"Hmm," Wei Ying hummed and grabbed a moon cake from a nearby plate and at it, "okay."
"Do not talk while eating," Wangji reminded.
"I think today we can make an exception," Lan Xiang said not far from them, "it's a banquet to celebrate the newest member of the family. That rule doesn't apply during these banquets."
Wei Ying smiled at Wangji, "Er-Ge," he said, "...about that day not long ago...thank you."
"You needed some comfort," Wangji said, "I would do it again. I care about you."
"You barely know me," Wei Ying said.
"I feel like I've known almost everything about you for a while now," Wangji said, "but we will hang out more in the future."
"Okay," Wei Ying said, "if you say so."

The days went by and Wei Ying was feeling more at home and welcome in his new family. Xichen and Wangji have been good friends with him and they were together almost all the time if they were not studying...but even when they study, they are in the same class together so it was hard not to be together. Wei Ying felt even more comfortable and relaxed around Wangji. He felt this pull to him and it felt good. He always wants to be by Wangji and protect him, love him, and cherish him. Wangji was just the same with him.
The three boys were doing so well in their studies that they gained their golden cores. Xichen got his a while back so he has been doing extra training but now that Wei Ying and Wangji have theirs, they can join Xichen for more training. Wei Ying thrived in archery. Xichen and Wangji were just as good but Wei Ying was named the best archer. The two were happy for Wei Ying. He was the best archer in his past life and they were glad that passed on to this life.
Sword training went smoothly. The three did exceptionally well and they would spar and grow. They learned the Gusu Lan sword style with ease. Wangji and Xichen had a slight advantage because they have memories of their past lives and Wei Ying does not. That didn't make Wei Ying any less of a swordsman though. He picked up on it quickly and even began making up his own moves and techniques. Wangji started to recognize them as they were similar to the past. He was very happy to see Wei Ying was still the same as back then but now he has a new identity and place to call home.
Time went by rather quickly since the training has been going so smoothly. Xichen was around fourteen to fifteen now and Wei Ying and Wangji were about twelve and thirteen. The twin jades used to be a thing in the past but now it's the three jades. Wei Ying was honored to be considered a jade of the sect. It felt he has been making his mark in the world.
News of the three Jades began to spread to other sects, and one particular sect was surprised to hear that Wei Ying was alive and well...the Yunmeng Jiang Sect. Sect Leader Jiang Fengmian has actually been looking for Wei Ying's whereabouts, and now he knows where Wei Ying was. He felt Wei Ying should be at Lotus Pier where his father grew up. Thus, a new conflict began. His wife was the same as in the past, wanting nothing to do with him.
At the next conference meeting that was being held in Lanling, the Jiang's got a chance to see Wei Ying for the first time. Wei Ying had a black bamboo flute at his waist, and dressed in dark blue and white Gusu Lan Sect robes. The robes and his sacred headband showed that he was part of the bloodline family. Jiang Fengmian was also surprised to see Qingheng Jun for the first time outside of the sect. Him, Lan Qiren, and the three Jades were all together in one place. The aura of the five gave off such calmness but confidence. Jiang Fengmian realized he might not win over Wei Ying. Seeing him so happy with his Lan Family, Jiang Fengmian was not sure how to feel.
