• judging criteria •
🦋welcome🦋
you filled the forms as a judge but you really don't know where to start from when you are judging a book?
if you are an experienced judge I know you were waiting only for this part
here are the criteria you will need to take in consideration when judging the story you will be assigned to
cover 10 points
the cover plays a big role in the book, I know people say 'don't judge a book by its cover' but guess what is the first thing you see in a book? yes, the cover. The cover is VERY important. how is the cover at your first impression?
- messy?
- too bright?
-too many colors?
-too sad?
-aesthetic?
-tidy?
-catchy?
the short 10 points
how about the short? the first thing we do after we got attracted by the cover is to go and check the short of the book. How is the short of the book you are judging?
- does it reveal too much?
- does it not say enough?
- is it catchy?
- is it messy? or organized?
title 15 points
the title is one of the MOST important things. How is the title?
- catchy or cliché?
-short, long, or the perfect length?
- does it fit the plot?
first chapter 5 points
we all know the usual wattpad chapter starting
"dring dring
the alarm rang but I just turned it off before turning to the other side and fall asleep again. It didn't last much as my mom came up to my room and started shaking me by my shoulders, I groaned... How stupid let me introduce myself, I'm..."
so cliché, isn't it?
how is the first chapter of that book?
- does it make you want to read more?
- is it original or the usual?
plot 20 points
the plot is what actually makes a book... well... a book, is the plot overused or is it a very original and interesting idea?
story flow 10 points
we all know how annoying it is when the author cannot keep up the flow... how is the flow of the book you are assigned to?
-does it go smoothly or does the author describe ONE date on FOUR chapters -.-?
- is it going too slow/too fast?
characters 5 points
when there are too many useless characters it's too hard to keep up with all of them...
-are there too many useless side characters?
- does the author mess with them? for example
chapter one
she had beautiful ocean blue eyes and honey skin
then in chapter 6 talking about the same character
her green eyes sparkled with joy
- do you feel connected to the character? (is the author able to transmit the emotions?)
- does the characters develope as the story goes ahead or do they not change a bit?
- are the characters intresting and original or have no personality at all...?
grammar and vocabulary 15 points
please...I had seen too many author making such stupid grammar mistakes as writing they're instead of their or I and him instead of him and I, more closer instead of closer and soooo on
- does the author uses correct grammar?
- is the vocabulary really basilar or a little fancier?
connectivity 10 points
was the author able to make you feel connected, and somehow make you attached, to their story and characters? would you advice that book to your friends or not? is it that type of book that you would read again and again?
comment here your questions ->
Goodluck everyone 🦋
