One of the main characters, Toby Cadwell is the son of a wealthy businessman. He is a smart student and the frenemy of Vanessa Bell. With the help of ring Black Cat Brooch and it's spirit Bast, he becomes the hero Black Cat.

Personality: As Toby, he is cold and snarky. He tries to keep his image because of his fate as the heir to his father's company. Although disliking most humans, he loves animals. He is very smart, having figured out his crush Butterfly's identity. He is touch sensitive, allowing few people to touch him- these include his mother and Vanessa.

As Black Cat, he is flirty and warm with Butterfly. But he has a huge sense of responsibility, often getting into fights with Vanessa due to her tendency to get into Possessed fights.

Physical Appearance: He has pale skin and light blonde hair. His eyes are light blue. He wears an emerald cat ring.

As Toby, he wears a partial suit: black slacks, black dress shoes, a black tie, a white shirt, and a grey vest. His hair is neat. He uses a grey bookbag. Some days, he wears a light blue scarf Vanessa gave him.

As Black Cat, he wears a black leather bodysuit. A black belt acts as a tail. His hair is messy, with black cat ears attached. He has a golden bell that acts like a zipper. His mask is black, giving him the appearance of blue cat eyes.

Powers and Abilities: As bearer of the Black Cat Brooch, he is given the ability Entropy, which can destroy anything. He uses a silver staff. His use of the Brooch also gives him superhuman strength and agility.

Toby was homeschooled for most of his life.

He calls everyone by their last name, except Vanessa.

His favorite food is pasta salad.

Catnip affects him.

Toby was originally planned to be the kind son of a famous artist and completely oblivious to Vanessa's crush on him and her identity as Butterfly.
