EVERYONE DREAMS BUT not everyone remembers their dreams. actually, many people think they've never dreamt a dream but every single person dreams multiple dreams in one night, at least that's what science says. dreams aren't something you can only have when you sleep.

to dream without sleeping all you need is a brain and maybe even a little fantasy. a dream could be a wish that you really want to come true or something you'd love to come true but don't expect to.

dreams that you experience when you're sleeping though can be anything. they can be messy and unrealistic or they can feel too real which is horrible if you're having a nightmare — an evil dream like lacey used to say when she was a child.

when lacey was still a kid, she used to dream every night and she also remembered every dream. probably because most of them were evil. however, lacey stopped remembering her dreams about a year ago. she didn't know why and even though she'd like to know what weird things her brain made up when she fell asleep, she preferred not to as long as it meant to have no nightmares.

but every time she woke up, she laid still for around five minutes, trying really hard to remember a dream she had until she felt like it was a waste of time and got up to brush her teeth.

lacey did the same thing on the morning of the day she was supposed to film a new youtube video with bryce hall, a guy she met a day ago. as she looked into the mirror and thought more about the sway boys, she noticed how weird it was to visit them a day after day met.

"they're not gonna kill me. they're too famous", she mumbled and spit in the sink before washing her face and putting the toothbrush away. when she raised her head again, she jumped lightly after looking at her reflection.

"who would want to kill you, lacey, what the fuck?", evelina asked confused and pushed lacey away so that she could brush her teeth too.

the brunette girl sighed and sat down on the bathtub. "i was just thinking about the sway boys because bryce asked us to come over again so him and i can film together."

"and why exactly would he want to kill you? did i miss that part or—"

"damn, eve, i was just thinking that we're trusting strangers too quickly. we shouldn't let boys we don't know into our house", lacey explained, grabbed the scrunchie that held her hair in a bun and pulled it out.

"but i knew them", evelina argued before she put toothpaste on her toothbrush. lacey couldn't help but roll her eyes before she slowly lowered herself into the empty bathtub.

"you knew them from online but you didn't know what they were like. dude don't even argue with me about this and keep brushing your teeth before you spit everywhere!", lacey raised her voice at evelina who mumbled something like "fuck off" before she actually did what her friend told her to do.

"whatever. bryce asked me to come over and said i could bring you guys too. you're coming and i'm gonna ask the rest now", the brunette said and pulled herself up again before she walked over to the door. evelina spit into the sink and turned to lacey.

"i never said i was free", she mumbled before putting the toothbrush back into her mouth. lacey chuckled and answered.

"because i didn't ask, you're coming", she winked at her friend and left the bathroom, stopping in front of her mirror to brush through her hair. a small smile appeared on her face as she thought about the time she spent with bryce yesterday.

even though she genuinely thought she wouldn't end up liking him, especially that early, she had fun when they headed to her room to stare into the sky, talking about the weirdest topics ever. the past night had proven that she shouldn't judge people before knowing them.

when she was done fixing her hair, lacey decided to head down and join the other girls who where up. her steps down the stairs were soft as she concentrated on making no sounds. the girl greeted her friends when she arrived in the kitchen before she sat on the chair next to mia.

"i finished editing your video, by the way", bailey said as she pointed to lacey and took a sip of her iced coffee. the dark haired girl grimaced and held her head before she started talking again. "god, when do they make warm iced coffee?"

her friends stared at her in silence before beatrice cleared her throat. "you know, that would be any other kind of coffee. just saying."

"oh."

"anyways, thank you, bails", lacey said and walked over to her friend to press a kiss on her cheek before going to the couch to check the video. lacey was known for being, let's say, not the best at editing. she usually started editing a video of hers, stopped when she was too frustrated and another girl would finish it for her. she trusted her friends enough to let them do it without giving them any directions.

"at some point you mumbled something behind the camera. i'm not sure who it was about but i cut it out. don't need you to pop up on tiktokroom again", bailey joked and lowered herself next to lacey.

"oh my god, thank you so much. i wanted to do that but you know", she got quieter by the end because she finally found the edited video. lacey started it immediately and made sure that it was good.

after the eight minutes the video took of her time, she started uploading it and joined her friends at the breakfast table. "evelina and i are going to sway later. bryce invited me to film the video and he asked if y'all want to come too."

venus frowned as she took a bite of her bread. "why are you saying 'the video'? did i miss something?"

lacey realized that she hadn't told her friends about any of the plans but just assumed that she had done it. "yeah, the story isn't important actually but bryce and i made a deal that we'd appear on each other's accounts. i don't know."

"i'm gonna go with you guys", mia spoke and drank from her reddish mug before she turned to venus. "you're busy right? didn't you say you'd meet up with—"

"yeah, i'm busy", venus confirmed, interrupting mia and nodded.

"i'm coming with you too", bailey mumbled and stared at her on the table tipping fingers before she sent a smile lacey's and evelina's way.

every look fell on beatrice now, her being the only one to haven't answered yet. "yeah, no. i'm not going, sorry", she declined and grabbed an apple before she continued. "i got my period last night and i'm pretty sure cramps are making their way to destroy my life."

mia giggled at her overdramatizing friend before she nodded understandingly. "so it's the four of us. when do they expect us?"

"anywhere around three."

a few hours later, lacey, evelina, mia and bailey found themselves in front of the swayhouse, also known as sway la. for a second, lacey felt like she recognized it somewhere and then she realized that they had passed it on their way to their own house.

"can someone ring the door, please?", bailey asked as she started playing with the string of her thin hoodie. lacey nodded but before she could ring the bell, a boy that she didn't know opened the door. his face seemed familiar, probably from online, but he definitely wasn't with the boys the day before.

"hey, come in", he said and stepped aside to let the girls enter. he smiled at every single one of them, his eyes focusing on evelina more than on the others though. "i'm quinton by the way, the boys left me out yesterday."

"dude shut up. you weren't even in la until today morning", josh argued and flicked his friend's head before passing him and greeting the girls. "you can put your shoes there and to quote lacey mi casa es su casa. jaden is out, so are anthony and kio. i don't know when they'll be back."

"kio better be meeting up with princess peach so she can teach him how to win mario kart", evelina joked as she put off her shoes. the others joined her laugh as they walked further into the house.

the way the three girls, excluding evelina, stood in the middle of the living room as awkwardly as possible was uncomfortable to watch for bryce, who was hiding on top of the stairs, filming his friends like a creep until he decided to step in. "hey girls, good to see y'all", he said and waved at them before he walked to them.

"if you want to start with filming now, we can go into my room", bryce said and looked at lacey who answered with a nod. he then stopped his own camera and motioned the girl to follow him up which she did.

"wow, you're room looks kinda empty compared to mine", she mumbled entering bryce's room and looking around for a second before she turned back to him. he chuckled at her comment and rolled his eyes.

"you have a poster and photo wall, that makes a huge difference, lacey", he said and corrected his equipment's position before he sat down. lacey followed him to the desk and sat down on the free chair right beside him.

"so are you gonna start the video now?", lacey asked and looked up at bryce after he waited for a few moments, giving her a chance to ask any questions. he then actually started filming.

"hey guys and welcome to a new video. today i have a very special guest here but for some reason, tayler decided not to come over today and now all i have for you is lacey", bryce began and folded his hands in an attempt to start a minutes of silent which lacey didn't let happen.

"actually, this is my video and yes, i am in bryce's room and no, i do not want to be here", lacey said and looked over to bryce who grabbed a dollar from his table to give it to her in an inconspicuously obvious way. "just kidding, i love it here. y'all should go follow bryce on instagram, twitter, tiktok, everywhere!", she went in with the joke before she stopped, not being able to hold back her giggle, knowing that she would never say that. bryce looked at her with a small smile, waiting for her to continue.

"today i'm reacting to still softish with bryce by my side. i haven't really listened to the song and i know that i should have, i'm sorry", she raised her hands in defense. "but yeah, he'll explain stuff to me — and you out there obviously."

bryce nodded and started the song. since the text was very self explanatory, lacey didn't have too many questions but she got enough opportunities to crack a joke or two. people watching the video later would definitely notice that these two were very comfortable around each other and following ship comments were almost destined to be. but for now, they had just ended the first video for lacey's channel.

"so about the questions", lacey started and grabbed her phone. "i didn't write down anything but i've already scrolled to some of mine and they're pretty cool", she said and turned to bryce to put her legs on his lap.

he ignored the action, having noticed that she was quite affection, and simply put his hand on her leg before nodding. "yeah, same."

bryce leaned forward to start his own camera this time and made the introduction almost similar to what he said in lacey's video. "now introduce yourself."

"okay, i'm lacey and i just moved to la a few days ago with my best friends. we're the slayhouse because we're the better version of sway la. that's it."

lacey looked at the camera satisfied where as bryce sighed dramatically and pushed her legs off him. "i said introduce yourself, not drag me and my friends, dude."

"i don't care, dude."

"introduce yourself appropriately, dude"

"hello, i'm still lacey and i'm still part of the slayhouse that has recently moved to la. i'm eighteen and people know me because i sing quite well, i was also a dancer. dude", lacey said in a higher pitched voice except for the last word.

"anyways, what me and miss stupid next to me are doing today is a little q and a. we both asked you guys questions on our instagram stories and we're gonna chose some now", bryce explained before he grabbed lacey's thigh to turn her more into his direction, so that she could put her legs on his lap again.

"i'm gonna start with the first question for lacey. which is 'in how many relationships have you been?'", the boy looked at lacey with a small grin. bryce was genuinely interested in hearing the answer since he couldn't really tell and also didn't find anything about her relationships online.

"okay, so we're going full in", she chuckled before counting in her head. "i had a boyfriend in seventh grade or something around that time and i was dating a dude for some weeks in 2018 but we stopped before it got serious and there was a girl last year. y'all actually know her from my posts but you didn't know that we were dating at that time", lacey answered and started scrolling through her instagram ask box.

the two kept asking one question after another until bryce decided it was enough and ended the video. "okay, that's it. what do you wanna do now? it's almost five", he asked and got up from his chair to drink out of his bottle.

"it's hot, we could go in the pool? or just join the others downstairs", lacey answered and got up as well, ready to leave his room.

"yeah, no, let's go in the pool", bryce decided and opened the door to let lacey walk out first.

"so you're a gentleman?", she joked as she passed him but he just shook his head chuckling.

"just shut up and keep walking, lacey", he said and softly pushed her towards the stairs. the two friends headed downstairs and told the others they'd go outside.

bryce got in the pool first, jumping in without hesitation because he knew it was heated a bit but lacey took her time. she slipped into the water slowly and waited a few moments before diving in completely. she then joined bryce at the edge of the pool.

"filming with you was actually really cool", lacey admitted and closed her eyes to let the warm los angeles sun sink in.

"actually? what do you mean with actually? what did you expect", bryce said laughing a little as he tapped his finger in the water every now and then.

the brunette girl rolled her eyes before she turned a little more in his direction. "i just thought you were extremely weird and hyper and loud to be honest but you're cool."

bryce gasped and dramatically put a hand on his chest. "me, hyper and loud? why would you think that?"

the two looked at each other in silence before they broke out in laughter. bryce did his best to calm down again and catch some air so that he could start talking.

"wait a second, didn't you tell me you don't really watch our videos?", he asked and immediately noticed lacey's change of face colour. "did you stalk through my videos?!"

lacey tried to avoid answering with laughing awkwardly and turned away from bryce again. "nope", she said, plopping the 'p'.

"yeah, whatever, lacey", bryce chuckled and rolled his eyes a little. lacey bit her lip as she tried to hold back a grin and now turned around fully so that she was looking at the door that lead inside.

"why would i want to stalk your youtube? there's so much of... you, bryce", she pointed out and buried her face in her arms.

"WHATEVER, LACEY", bryce said louder than before and turned around as well when he heard the door open. griffin, josh, mia, bailey, evelina and quinton all left the house in swimming clothing.

"sorry to interrupt your peaceful time for two but it's fucking hot so make some room", evelina said and jumped in first only a second later.
