Itachi's POV
I woke up in the middle of the night due to a nightmare I had with a ghost from the past. That ghost being Valentina.
I always had nightmares when we i had a disagreement with my wife Lilian the night before.
I looked next to me and I saw my wife Lilian laying next to me deep asleep, and felt immense relief.
Despite all these years I still was afraid that one day I would wake up and all of these would be a dream. That the Uchiha would be dead and that I still would be tormented by all their deaths due to killing them.
But thanks to Hidan, one day my clan just woke up and came back to life. With no recollection of what happened. And when I tried to explain to them what happened, they laughed at me, thinking I was lying.
I went outside to get some fresh air and look at the stars. Ever since Karin's friend started babysitting my daughter, my relationship with my wife has improved significantly. We have more time to ourselves when we aren't out in our anbu missions.
As I turned around to return into the warmth of my home, I saw a shadow walking towards the entrance/exit of the Uchiha village.
"Lily-Chan?" I called out confused as I recognize the weird anbu/babysitter by one of the colorful and eccentric pair of socks that the awkward anbu always wore.
The figure stood there for a few seconds as if thinking of how to react. She finally stood into the light and forced a smile when our eyes met.
"Hello Itachi-San," she smiled at me.
"Lily-chan, what are you doing here at this time of the night?" I asked confused. It was well past 2 in the morning.
"Just finished babysitting," she said still smiling.
I looked at the direction of where she was coming from. Trying to remember what house she could have been babysitting on. I mean Obito lived by the direction she came from, but it couldn't be his house because his baby isn't even born yet.
"I know it's a bit weird to be here at this time of the night. It was never my intention to scare you or make you uncomfortable. It's just that...you know," she spoke again and looked down at the ground. "My life as an anbu is pretty lonely and depressing. So I don't mind working all the time to get my mind off my reality. Whether it's missions or babysitting. I don't mind, as long as I'm not alone."
I looked away completely understanding where she was coming from. I was an anbu and it's a very stressful job. I also used to be in the Akatsuki. I felt sorry for her imagining how sad and lonely she must be feeling.
"I understand. Stay safe." I told her.
She hugged me causing me to freeze a bit due to how fast everything happened.
"Thank you, Itachi-San. Goodnight." She said as she kissed my neck and quickly ran away.
I stood there shock in place. This behavior of hers was new to me. Since she started babysitting my daughter she has never had any physical contact with me. It was only greetings and goodbyes. Hardly eye contact.
Despite how inappropriate I felt the behavior was, I decided not to tell my wife about it. I didn't want any more problems with her, especially now that our relationship was improving. Besides, the anbu has always been awkward. It must be a misunderstanding.
