let's ditch your party

-

you didn't know why you loved the way your name rolled off the stranger's tongue.

but hold on a second.

you didn't even know the stranger actually knew who you were.

so she just insulted this place straight-up in front of my face even when she knew very well that i live here?

you immediately raised an eyebrow at the smirking brunette. you wondered where she got such confidence to speak to you that way, since she's clearly someone whom you've never even seen before in your entire eighteen years of existence.

however, the way you're staring at her only made the stranger's bow lips pull to her smoldering chocolate eyes even more.

"i'm jennie's friend. i just moved here in new york from seoul yesterday." the mention of your best friend's name calmed you down a little, as you remembered how jennie did mention to you a few weeks back that she's going to bring an old friend along to your eighteenth birthday party.

"right. she did mention that." you mumbled, chuckling to yourself a little before tearing your gaze away from the brunette and staring at basically nothing straight ahead.

the stranger kept watching as you let out a soft sigh, shoulders slumping and hazel eyes tremendously gloomy.

you ignored her.

and so, she continued to stare, chocolate eyes curious and expression deciding that she didn't like the sight at all. you wanted to roll your eyes, as this girl's way too easy to read.

or maybe you're just that good at seeing right through people, even if you don't even know what their name is, yet.

you were right, though. the brunette really was staring because she didn't like what she sees.

however, you completely missed the part where she thought it's because the gloominess in your eyes didn't suit such angelic face you have.

at the same time, you also missed the way she silently thought of a way to replace your frown with a genuine smile.

so maybe you weren't that good at seeing right through people at all.

and you'd usually hate it when you're wrong,

but at these instances, we all don't think so, don't we?

subtly, the brunette broke the silence that was slowly consuming the air around you with a question you least expected to roll off her tongue, catching you completely off guard.

"wanna get out of here?"

you scanned the grinning stranger beside you confusedly, ignoring the way you felt like your heart just stopped beating for a second there.

"but it's my party." you retorted, causing the brunette to chuckle once again.

"is it when it's not even making you wanna have fun at all?"

raising an eyebrow, you had to bite off a smile. "so what are you trying to say?"

the stranger mirrored your raised eyebrow, signature lopsided grin still present on her lips as she responded nonchalantly, as if it's the easiest thing one could ever say or do.

"let's ditch your party."

it finally made you chuckle again, causing you to miss the way the brunette forced herself not to let her grin completely tear her face in half. when your laughter died down, you faced her once again, this time with a smile.

a much more genuine smile.

"why would i want to come with a stranger who might possibly be a kidnapper or a serial killer on the loose?"

you watched as the statement sent the stranger laughing as well, shaking her head lightly before standing up and nonchalantly offering her hand.

you looked up at her in awe, in which she didn't fail to mirror with an adoring grin.

"well, don't you wanna celebrate your eighteenth birthday with a serial killer?" she retorted, still chuckling lightly to herself. "i personally think it's gonna make you wanna have fun."
