Serendipity

She was enigmatic and captivating, I had no choice but to leave her in the bosom of the Denver ladies, for it appeared she may be fragile and in need of some care.

It seems I wasn't mistaken, for she traveled to and from the table to chase after an acquaintance, not something done by someone who didn't care.

Eyes all blurry, feeling dizzy.

It's been quite a day, must stay happy.

Party's over; I head for the door.

Where I trip on my dress once more.

This time there's no one to catch me.

I fight to keep myself up and stumble outside.

"Miss Annie?" The smooth voice seeps into my brain

And suddenly I'm in Bart's arms again.

"Take me back with you," I mumble into his vest.

As my face buries itself in his chest

It came to the night's end and she drifted off all alone, presumably to find her way home.

It seems that we were fated to meet as a result of serendipitous accidents, for once again she stumbled and fell into my arms as if they were her home.

In a moment of relief from some untold distress, her beautiful but sad face melded with my chest.

With an almost inaudible voice, she said, 'Take me back with you' If I was Brett this would be another woman's Crown Jewels added to my treasure chest.

Good god I thought, there is only so much temptation, a good man can take.

She collapsed, feeling no heavier than a child in my arms, that thought caused me to reflect on the course of action every masculine fiber of my body craved to take.

So once again, I took this unnatural beauty in my arms and carried her to my room and gently laid her delightful body upon my bed.

I wasn't to be trusted, so called upon my mother and sister, asking if they would care for Annie, who was now curled up and purring sweetly like some exotic Persian cat, in the middle of my bed.
