Introduction

My name is Aileen Parker and this is how I started hanging out with the most annoying guy in the world, which led to joining the club my uncle- my only relative- hates and saving my island from destruction, because the Mayor is a greedy idiot.

Yeah... Damn life.

I live in Sidegreen Isle, located in the middle of the Atlantic but somehow nobody knows about it. It is populated by 206 people and 20 dogs. My island is like a small village where everyone knows each other, there isn't much technology and no one knows how people came here in the first place. We keep up with TV and all, but that's it. No wi-fi, old phones. All we have is a huge stereo at the Party House.

And here is the club I was talking about.

The Party House is the biggest thing that ever happened in this island. It is a big, beach house Derek Dollace inherited from his grandfather and turned into something like a club. Last year, when his son Matt turned fifteen he gave him the whole thing, but Matt wanted to upgrade things a bit.

Let's just say the cops aren't lazy anymore. They chase around the members of the House all day, because they go to the cliffs (which is for some reason illegal) and at night they unsuccessfully crash their parties due to loud music. I am lucky enough to be living next door! Yay...

Maybe I forgot to mention it, but I am the least social person on the island. I don't know about you guys that live out there, but here being social and gossiping is everything. As I told you, not much goes on and gossiping gives people something to do.

And here I am now, walking down the street going to my favorite bakery (and the only one) to get some muffins. Gosh, I love muffins...

Back to the point.

So as I take my muffins and walk outside smelling them, I bump into the biggest idiot in the world, ending up spilling coffee on his jacket and dropping my muffins.

"Sorry..." I say but when I look up a smirk forms on my lips.

"What the hell, Parker?" Matt Dollace shouts.

"You should watch where you're going, Dollace ! My poor muffins..." I shout back mockingly and mutter the last part.

"You just ruined my jacket. Do you even know how much it costs?"

"No and I don't care. Leave me alone to grieve for my breakfast." He doesn't move.

"Apologize." I glare at him. What an airhead... I sigh.

"Sorry for spilling your expensive coffee all over your expensive jacket. Can I go now?" I ask.

"We are not done. Now beat it, Parker." He says and walks in the bakery.

"With pleasure, Dollace." I say and being the mature person I always have been and always will be, I stick my tongue out making sure he sees me and walk away from there.

When I returned home I went at my room and lied down on my bed. There is really not much to do here. The books are too old and I have read most of them, no internet, no phones and it is still morning. Time for some studying.

I don't study much, but being the only teenager on the whole island that doesn't spend their nights at the Party House, I am considered a nerd. Who cares? I am not stepping in that damn house.

Why am I lying? That same night I went at the party to tell those idiots and their king off.

I got out of my house furiously and walked towards the beach house a few yards further. A guy, either Jace or Chase Dayson (they are twins, I can never tell who is who) was standing outside, probably waiting for the cops to arrive so he could alert the others.

I opened the door to see chaos.

Just kidding.

There were no people snogging, or alcohol or these stuff you see in the movies about the big parties that happen out there. There were around fifty teenagers dancing at music so loud I swear my late parents could hear it from heaven.

I clutched my ears and walked towards the dance floor, where I found his stupid highness, well, dancing.

I poked Matt's shoulder and he turned around.

"Keep it down!" I mouth and he laughs.

"Not gonna happen." He mouths back. And then I slapped him. Nobody saw it, but he definitely felt it. I glared at him.

"Keep it down." I mouth again and turn around to walk out, but he grabs my arm. "Want another one?" I mouth and he glares at me, but just then Chase (or Jace, whatever) walks in and the music stops.

"They're coming!" He shouts and everyone runs. They get in cupboards, they go under beds, they hide everywhere. I stare wide-eyed at Matt, who just grabs me and takes me in a trapdoor under a bed.

"Get in and don't make a sound, got it?" He pushes me inside and I land with a "thump" on my back. I roll aside just a couple of seconds before he lands where I was lying before. "Just to be clear, I only hid you because you could be running off telling the cops where we go." He tells me.

"Of course you did." I groan and get up. "When will these guys go away, I need to go home."

"It usually takes them ten minutes." He tells me.

"Wait, so I am stuck with you for ten full minutes? Dammit..." I mutter.

"Not so happy either, Parker."

"So the music was payback?" I ask him.

"Of course it was payback! I warned you!" He whisper-shouts.

"I am getting back at yo--" he shushes me.

I look up at the trapdoor. There are voices up there. I look at Matt wide-eyed.

"What the hell?" I mouth.

"I don't know." He mouths back.

The trapdoor opened and then we both died.

Just kidding.

We hid in the shadows holding our breaths.

"There's no one here." A cop said and shut the trapdoor. That's when we realized that apart from our breath, we were holding hands too.

We took our hands away from each other and cursed under our breaths. Then the trapdoor opened again before we could hide.

"Hey, Phil! I got two!" The cop that opened the trapdoor shouts.

"No way! I already looked there!" The cop named Phil shouts back.

"Alright kids, party's over." He smirks. Just my luck...

So an hour later, I am sitting in the prison jail's bench and Matt is sitting on the floor next to the door.

"What now?" I ask him.

"I don't know, I have never been arrested before!"

"Are you blaming this one on me?!" I ask him again.

"N- I didn't say that!"

"Wait." I stand up and go to the door. "Hey, em... Mister guard? Can I call someone?" I ask the guard. Okay, I said I am antisocial, but that doesn't mean I have mad persuasion skills.

"Fine." He grumbles and opens the door to let me out.

"I will be right back." I mouth at Matt.

I don't even know why I helped him out and didn't just go away with my uncle. I could have done that, but I didn't.

"Hey, uncle Dan?" I say.

"Aileen! Where the hell are you?" He asks.

"Well... Remember when I went to tell the guys next door to tell them to lower the damn music? Well, the police came and me and a... a friend got caught... Can you come bail us out?" I say.

"You have friends?! Well anyway... Dammit... Be right there. And we need to talk." He says and hangs up.

I returned to the cell accompanied by mister guard.

"Well?" Matt asks.

"My uncle will bail us both out."

"Both?!"

"Yes, you idiot, both. I told him you are a friend of mine. He will be here in a while." He just stares at me. I wave my hand in front of him. "You there?" I ask.

"Yeah, just... Surprised?" He says.

"Well I am not all poison." I reply, and go lie down at the bench.

Half an hour later we were getting in my uncle's car.

"You kids nowadays... You and your parties. Jesus!" He kept mumbling.

A while later I drifted into dreamless sleep.

When I woke up we were nearly home. And I swear I had fallen asleep on the window, not on Matt's shoulder. Dammit.

I gasped and pushed him away, waking him up.

"What the hell Parker?" he gasps.

"Nothing, sorry." I say, but he got the point.

"So you, boy; are you going back to the party or should I drop you off wherever it is you live?" My uncle asks. He doesn't know the new generation well. If he knew who my "friend" was, he wouldn't be this nice. Not that he was nice at all, but anyway. Things could be worse.

"Back to the party sir." Matt replies.

"Okay then..." My uncle sighs and starts ranting to himself about teenagers again.

When we arrived, Matt thanked me and my uncle and went back to the party, which was back on.

At least he made sure they lowered the volume this time.

And then, there was my talk with my uncle.

"Aileen Sabrina Parker, you are never going in that house again for absolutely no reason." He says. I wasn't intending to, anyway. But he used my full name. This only wakes up the rebel in me.

"Yes, uncle Dan..." I lie. At the first chance I am going at the Party House.

Dammit, I will regret it.

"Now go to sleep, it's late." He says. It was midnight, but here midnight is too late for us.

The next morning, I was going back downtown to get muffins, which luckily wouldn't fall down like yesterday's.

As I was getting in, I nearly bumped into Matt, again.

"Oh! Hey... Uh..." He says.

"Hi." I yawn. I am not a morning person, but I wake up early anyway. Basically, I have no choice. My uncle wakes me up.

"Do you want to stop by at the Party House tonight? I won't try and kick you out again. Besides I owe you." Well, that chance came up quickly.

"Uh... Sure! And you don't owe me." I smile. What the hell is wrong with me? I should be telling this guy off for getting me a criminal record!

"Okay then, see you tonight." He says and leaves.

Before anything else, I need to tell you. We don't have a lot of new clothes here. We have an old lady that makes them for us. We girls don't wear jeans a lot. We mostly wear dresses.

I, for example, only have two pairs of jeans. The rest of my clothes are dresses and skirts and some t-shirts.

For some reason, I felt like the jeans would be informal, inappropriate, I don't know, so I went for a dress. It wasn't long, or too short. Just an ordinary, floral, knee-length dress, some black shoes and a red scarf.

My uncle would never let me go, so I told him I am going to sleep, put some pillows under my sheets and sneaked out from the window.

Thank goodness my room is on the ground floor.

I sneak from behind and go to my neighbor's front door. I wasn't going to dance or anything. I went just to annoy my uncle for calling me by my full name. Not that he would find out that I went.

I just hope this time I won't get caught like last night, when I wasn't even partying.

I found a free couch and sat there. Boring, but it was funny seeing the others dancing. Everyone had their own style.

Then someone came up from behind, scared me and I yelped. When I turned around I saw Matt and four of his friends laughing. It was the Dayson twins and two girls, Sylvia Sherol and Eliza Road. We have never talked, but I told you. Everyone knows everyone around here.

I glare at him.

"Is that why you told me to come?" I ask mockingly. The music today isn't as loud and this room is kind of far from the dance floor, so we can actually talk.

"Maybe." He says. "You probably know them, but these are my friends, Chase and Jace Dayson, Sylvia Sherol and Eliza Road. Guys, this is the loser from next door, Aileen Parker."

"Nice to meet you." I ignore his comment and shake hands with the others.

Sylvia has black hair, dark gray eyes and is wearing black lipstick. Eliza has blond hair, brighter than mine, green eyes and all she wears is pink.

"So are you dancing or what?" Matt asks.

"I can guarantee that I don't." I say.

"Oh, come on, girl! You are at a party! Relax a bit!" Eliza tells me.

"Sorry, but I have never danced in my life and I am not intending to do so yet." I reply.

"You can't have never danced in your life! Liar." Chase or Jace says. Seriously, those two need name tags.

"I am not a liar!" I say.

"Fine. Don't come. We will be back in a while." Matt says. If he thinks this is going to work, he is wrong.

I am not leaving this couch until the cops come when I will have to hide so I don't get arrested again.

Just as I am pondering on that, the music stops and someone, probably the guy who was keeping watch, shouts "Incoming!".

Great. Where am I going now? Everyone knows exactly where to hide. It is my second time here, and yesterday it was by chance. I stand up and start panicking. If I get caught I will have to spend the night in jail. I won't be able to call my uncle and tell him I sneaked out and ended up in prison for the second time in two days.

Just as I am starting to freak out, Matt and his friends come in.

"Parker! What the hell are you doing here?" He asks.

"I have no idea were to hide!"

"Come on!" He signals me and we all go upstairs. We get in a room, probably Matt's by the looks of it, and hide in a closet, behind a second wall. This one is smarter than the trapdoor.

All six of us stay cramped in the wardrobe, until we hear someone shout.

"Cops are out! Come on!" He says.

"Don't move. We have a code, when the cops go we don't say that." Matt whispers and I nod.

I don't know how much time passed, but it was at least twenty minutes.

"The cake is ready!" A girl shouts from downstairs.

"And that's our queue." Eliza says. We get out of the closet and take deep breaths.

"Okay, guys! The party is back on!" One of the twins says panting and we all go downstairs.
