Chapter 4- Bloody Prank-Wars

So Matt was being an idiot, as usual. We did try to practice climbing on the non-restricted cliffs, but they were too steep. Let's just say that Eliza ended up with a broken leg and Chase with a broken arm when she slipped and fell on him.

They are both okay now.

Things were back to normal. The Party House was still working, I still went there at night and helped out, but I was still fighting with my uncle.

And then there were the prank wars. Dammit, why did I agree to do this?

We were sitting at the couch before a party on a Saturday night. That's when Sylvia, the person I least expected to, suggested we do something funny. When we asked her what, she replied "prank wars". Eliza started cheering and jumping around and the twins agreed, so did Matt.

"What's wrong, Parker? Scared of a little prank-war?" He asks.

"Nope. I just don't want to demolish my bloody house and have all my damn clothes burned, thank you." I reply.

"Whatever, chicken."

"I am not the guy from 'Back to the Future'."

"Okay, but it would be funnier if we played Girls vs Boys rather than everyone for themselves." Eliza says slyly.

"Fine, dammit. I am going to regret this."

Now, a week later, I regret it.

The Party House was a battlefield, and soon after we started pranking, the other teenagers of the island found out and joined in.

Surprisingly, the House was still there. But as expected, the interior of the house was a wreck.

Sylvia's clothes had been replaced with girlier ones, while Eliza's hair were red for a week.

The twins were glued to each other for two days and three other boys had their socks stolen and sold at an old man.

How this is called pranking, I shall never know.

The only ones not seriously injured or forever embarrassed were me, Matt and a girl a year older than us, Jessica Lare.

We were at the party house when I heard a scream and Jessica came in the room with green slime all over her.

I guess it's just me and Matt for now. Oh well...

I couldn't come up with a good prank. Nothing to scar him for eternity, but nothing to be forgotten in a month.

He most likely wanted to do the same, because I hadn't been attacked from him yet.

There were a couple attacks from other classmates of mine, but nothing much. They ended up pranking themselves.

At least I had found a way to pass my time and think.

Remember when I told you Matt threw darts at a campaign poster of the Mayor? Well I got one too and put it in my room.

However, I was a little more creative, so I drew a mustache, a devil's tail and horns on it.

Apparently, throwing darts at the evil Mayor's poster calmed me down and helped me think.

And then it hit me.

I left the house to go downtown. I went at the supermarket and got some jelly. Then I returned home.

In case you were wondering, I need one last ingredient. Matt's keys to the House.

Let me enlighten you.

I am going to make jelly with his keys in it. He will have to eat the jelly to get the keys, but I highly doubt he will.

He will end up destroying the jelly and living with the guilt. It wasn't much, but I would keep bothering him by reminding him. I went at the House (thank goodness uncle Dan wasn't home) and sneaked in Matt's room.

And yes, I have my own keys to go in.

I opened his drawer and found them lying there. I took them, but I heard the door open.

I ducked and went under the bed. Thankfully he wouldn't look.

He opened the drawer, probably to take his keys, didn't find them and left frustrated. I made sure he had gone downstairs and left from the balcony.

It wasn't high, and with the whole "climbing cliffs" thing, it wasn't hard either. I returned home and prepared the jelly.

I am currently running for my life. It's not like my "prank" was extreme, right? Matt didn't like it, though. He said I had to pay for what I did to the poor jelly. He said I committed a crime. I guess I did, but that's what he was about to do too; dear fellow human beings, I am about to be brutally murdered.

Thank goodness the beach is empty at this time of the year and thank goodness I am a fast runner.

Let me fill you in...

After making the jelly prank, I went next door and put it in the fridge, covered and put a card that said "From Aileen to Matt". I think you can figure out the rest.

He knocked on my door, nearly attacked me on the spot, I ran outside and the rest is history.

Okay, I might be a criminal. Yes, I destroyed jelly, but it was for the prank war and it was nothing big. Okay, now I am babbling.

Anyway, destruction struck when I didn't see a rock and fell on my face. I turned around on the ground, grumbling, to see a smirking Matt looking down at me.

"What do you want?" I ask him. He just laughs. Moron. "Don't just stand there! Help me up!" I tell him and, surprisingly, he obeys. "Should I be worried?"

"Yep. You ruined jelly, I will ruin you." He says.

"You really love jelly, don't you?" I ask him.

"As much as you love pizza and muffins." He replies.

"I am doomed." I mutter.

"Indeed you are, Parker."

Then we heard Sylvia calling us.

"You two stop talking about whatever it is you are talking about and get your butts over here! We need to clean up!" She shouts. Saved by the bell! Or not?

We rushed back at the House and started preparing it for tonight's party.

There wasn't much to do. Last night's party wasn't too crazy. Just a little cleaning up the floor and the windows.

After cleaning up I went to get ready. i put on a black dress, black flats, took a small black wallet-like bag and my mom's necklace.

I still got in and out of the house through the window, I was still mad at my uncle and I still had food in my room so I was okay with all that. As you can see I can really hold a grudge if someone pisses me off.

~*~

There weren't many guests tonight. Probably because of this big test that was coming and for which I hadn't studied at all, yet.

See? Ever since I started hanging with the A-Team here, I haven't really been my old, good, nerdy self.

And I am not talking about routine; there is no such thing as routine. It is absolutely impossible to do the exact same things every day at the exact same time you did it the day before. I couldn't do that even if I tried. There are little things that change every day and make it different than the others, like spilling coffee on an expensive jacket or slapping someone because they get on your nerves (I know I couldn't have been more specific).

The bloody prank-war kept going. I am pretty sure it will keep going until we get bored of it or forget about it.

I really hope either happens soon.

After the party (around four in the morning, I think) I went home. As I already told you, there weren't many people so it didn't last long. I went in through the window, but my uncle was standing there.

"What the hell are you doing in my room and how the hell did you get in?" I say. Yeah, rude, I know. Whatever.

"Going in and out of the window you left it open." He replies.

"Dammit..." I mutter. "So what do you want?"

"I locked the window so you wouldn't sneak out, and what do you do? Unlock it and sneak out again. What's wrong with you? These friends of yours are bad influence."

"Don't you dare go there. I like going at the House, but I sneak out because you won't let me go. It is your fault I do what I do." I tell him.

"Whatever suits you, but you're not going back there again."

"Why?" I shout.

"One, keep it down it is four in the morning. Two, because I said so."

"What a great reason, uncle, you should have been a lawyer. And our only neighbors are still up." I retort. "Leave me alone." I say, push him out of my room and lock the door.

My uncle has never been this stuck-up in his life before. I hate it.

All my life I have been sitting in a room doing nothing and talking to no one, and now that I finally found something to do and people to talk to me, he won't let me do it. Okay, maybe running the Party House isn't so good of a hobby, but I like it. He can't forbid me to do it, can he?

Well, okay, maybe he can. He is my guardian or something, but still I don't like it. I think I should just go to sleep and be all rebellious tomorrow again.

I put on my pajamas, turned the light on and lied down at my bed.

Being a teenager will be the end of me.

~*~

I sneaked out of my house in the morning and went next door, hoping my uncle wouldn't come too.

There wasn't much to clean up after, so we studied. I didn't have my notes with me, so I asked Matt to tell me what pages we were writing on. The test was closing in, it was Sunday and we were writing the next day, so I had to study hard. I wasn't feeling like going back to my house with my uncle and all.

So about school; we don't go every day, like you do and we don't go for many hours. You see, Sidegreen Isle is off the beaten track and there is no way of getting out of it. There aren't many jobs here, so we don't learn chemistry or anything like that. We are taught English and math and all the basics, but we also take more practical classes concerning our future jobs. That test was on math, which is not really my thing.

Nobody came to party, probably because they were studying too, so we all stayed in and did the same.

We were all in different rooms, so that we didn't talk to each other. I was in the living room on the couch and I found my math notes astonishingly boring. As I was thinking about just that, I fell asleep without noticing. What time was it? Midnight, I think.

I woke up a few hours later, when I felt someone taking the book off of my stomach putting a blanket on me. I sat up.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you." Matt says.

"Nah, it's okay. I should go back home, anyway. My uncle will be worried. He caught me sneaking in last night." I reply.

"Are you sure you don't want to spend the night here? We have a spare bedroom." He says.

"Okay, fine. I am too sleepy to climb a window right now. What time is it, anyway?"

"Three in the morning."

"Dammit... How the bloody hell will we get up in the morning?"

"No idea. Come on, I will show you where to sleep." he says and I stand up to follow him.

We go upstairs, walk through the corridor by the rooms. The first door is Sylvia's room, next to hers is Eliza's and then Matt's. Opposite these is a room for the twins and two empty ones. We walk to the end and Matt opens the door.

"I am going to ask the girls if they have any spare pajamas." He says.

"Okay. Thanks..." I say.

"It's nothing." He shrugs.

"No, I mean it. Thank you, and not just for the sleepover. If you hadn't tried to take revenge on me with the music that day, I would still be the distant nerd I was back then." I say smiling. He just smiles back and leaves the room.

Two minutes later he came back with a set of pink pajamas, I assumed were Eliza's.

"Do you need anything else?" Matt asks.

"No, thanks. I will just fall asleep." I tell him.

"Goodnight Parker."

"Goodnight dummy."

~*~

In the morning I didn't hear the alarm. First of all, I sleep weirdly, with my hair all over my face and my feet tangled, so when Matt barged in the room and splashed my face with a bucket of water, I was more than embarrassed.

"Get up, we will be late. The girls picked you out some clothes and there's a spare toothbrush in the bathroom cupboard. Now hurry up!" He says and I glare at him.

I get up and get dressed quickly, then go downstairs for breakfast. After taming my hair I brushed my teeth and we all left for downtown, which takes us around an hour on foot.

We arrived at school just in time. We got in class and got on with writing the bloody test.

~*~

I got out of the class and waited outside for the others. Eliza came out five minutes later.

"How did you do?" She asks.

"So and so. You?" I ask her.

"Great!" Eliza might seem bubbly and kind of happy all the time (which she is), but she is smarter than she looks.

"There comes Sylvia..." I say.

"I failed it." She says while sitting down next to me.

"Dammit..." I say. We keep talking like that until the twins get out.

"Where the hell is Matt?" Eliza asks.

"The principal's office. Mrs Lake caught him cheating." Chase says. Well, that wasn't much of a first. He cheats nearly all the time.

"So what do we do, wait?" Sylvia asks.

"Yes. I don't want to be home when he gets out of it." I say smirking.
