a year in haiku: summer
spring showers become
hot sun, humid air
it feels like summer
ants invade the home
it's on their territory
kitchens are fair game
you lay next to me
as sun streams over our skin
sunburn is worth it
a lullaby of
crickets and birds and—
life at its fullest
late august thunder
the ground vibrates from its force
the power scares me
a two-faced season
sun-bright smiles, thunderous shouts
check the weather app
a whisper of wind
the beginning of the end
summer sounds quiet
