District eleven was and always had been the district with arguably the worst living conditions. Overworking their children, lack of food, constant guards around 24/7, whippings for those who dared to take even one bite of the food that they produced. It was torture, it was more than torture, it was barely even living. Amara went through it every day, climbing trees to gather food during the night but not being able to partake in that food, no matter how badly she or anyone else craved it.
When the young girl was fourteen, a boy her age actually won the games, the youngest ever. Finnick Odair was an inspiration, well at least an inspiration for her and anyone at the risk of being picked in future reapings. After that year, she still hoped to not be picked in the reaping, knowing that nobody would volunteer in her place but if she was picked she would try her best to follow his example.
Sometimes she wondered if being in the games would make her life better. If she lost, she'd be dead and wouldn't have to deal with the beatings she received in front of everyone after taking a bite of an apple she picked over, and over, and over again. If she won, she'd be able to live at least a little better in Victor's village, and her entire district would get extra rations for the rest of the year. What she never expected was actually being picked to be in the games.
She was the underdog but, even so, Amaranth Reed was a winner.
So basically, this is mostly based on the movies (because i'm too lazy to read the books honestly) BUT I have been doing an extensive amount of research for this so that it's the best quality that it can be.
This book will take you through Amara's games then her experiences afterwards (with slight time jumps) then stops being au in the Mocking Jay movie.
Also, the 67th games is the one that people seemed to have the least info about so i'm making it my own with my own characters and everything like that so this should be fun.
I've been working hard on this so show some love<3
