Tension

Another stabbing pain ripples through my body as I lay on the floor groaning. Feeling woozy as it continues in different parts of my body I watch the candle flicker a few feet away. The wounds on my body were growing by the minute as Jacen executed his latest experiment. After the stabbing sensations ends in my arm I hear a clatter as the knife is thrown across the room.

Jacen goes over to the cart of tools and huffs before yelling and pushing the cart so it topples. "Why won't anything work!?" He bellows running a hand through his blonde hair, pushing his hood off in the process.

I lay in a small pool of my own blood watching but feeling relieved that the torture was over. "What.. are you trying to achieve.." I mutter, trying to focus on staying awake.

Jacen paces the floor back and forth angrily muttering to himself. "I'm trying to stop something that I'm running out of time with!" He hisses, whipping around to face me.

"Which is?" I question, sitting up. My chains clank against the floor and I feel my disheveled hair fall against my back. Shaking my head, feeling woozy I focus on Jacen.

He stops pacing and takes a breath, "I saw an oracle for guidance. She told me a prophecy that could help save what I will lose. She said, 'Upon the day the fire burns blue, a noble of lightning shall usher forth a shift in their power.' The noble was you or your father, the royals of the Electron race. Nobles." Jacen takes the candle next to me and stares into the quivering flame.

"But I'm starting to think this hopeless.." He mutters blowing the flame out. "I've tried everything dark magic has to offer but no matter what I do the fire won't turn blue. That is the one thing I don't understand."

I stare at the metal floor processing all he's told me, my wounds stung but I knew they were minor. Sure they would leave scars but I wasn't going to get dressed up anytime soon. Feeling a little pleased I managed to get this information out of him I give a mental praise to myself. At least I had some answers.

Breaking out of his thoughts Jacen smiles, pressing a button on his wrist. The door opens and Vespasian comes in to pick me up. "We'll continue tomorrow Raina.." Jacen mutters staring at the scattered tools on the ground.

I'm brought back to the cell, my wounds had stopped bleeding and were gratefully starting to heal on their own. Jacen let a Strilik look and heal my feet partially but other then that my body had to heal on it's own.

Laying down on the cot I rest my eyes for a bit, exhausted in body, mind and spirit. I didn't know how much I could do this. It was starting to get too much for me to handle.

The Knight lay asleep in his cot and I sigh, looking at the ceiling in despair. My vision becomes blurry as the salty tears fill my eyes and I laugh a little, wiping them away. I stare at the ceiling, clenching my jaw in a effort to keep from sobbing.

My tears fall down my face slowly, leaving a burning trail of heartache. I missed them, Father and Mira. Nothing. That's all I did, when it came to defend my home and family all I did was freeze.

"It's your fault.." I whisper to myself staring at my hands, worn, dirty and bruised from my torture. I deserved this.

This was my punishment.

My actions caused the deaths of my family, friends and home. This was all my fault. I let the tears fall, rocking back a little as I tried to keep my sobbing at bay.

"Are you alright?" a voice asks.

My hand wipes my tears away and I glance at the Knight, his black hair was disheveled and he looked like he hadn't slept in awhile. Yet his blue eyes held... compassion..

I nod quickly and turn away, laying down to stare at the metal wall. He was a monster. All Knight's were. My distrust would not wane for a simple thing like compassion.

"May I ask why you were crying? I mean.. maybe it's because of being in this prison but my feelings are telling me it's something more.." He inquires, I hear him shuffle on his bed a little and I wipe away a stray tear as it slides down my cheek.

"It's something only I will deal with.." my voice croaks. Hoarse from my lack of water. Silence ensues my voice and I think that it's over. But I was wrong. The Knight shuffles around some more and he speaks again.

"I know how you feel.."

"You don't know anything about me." I hiss as I sit up, glaring daggers at his cross legged form. My anger was rising, he didn't know a thing about me or my life. He had no right to say anything like that."

He smiles sadly and chuckles, "Your right, I don't know anything about you, how should I know what my cell mate is like if she never speaks and only glares at me?" He questions. I glare at him some more, wondering where he's going and he laughs. "See?"

Crossing my arms I huff, "Well what were you going to say? Spit it out."

He smiles and stands up, walking to the force field and staring at it as it hums with energy. "You already know I'm a Knight, so let me tell you my story." He says.

Taking a seat next to the force field he leans against the wall. I roll my eyes, leaning against my wall, "What if I don't want to hear your story?" He laughs and shrugs it echoes a little in the metal cell and I sigh gesturing for him to continue.

"I come from the planet Sierra, yes I can teleport but I can't because of these cuffs." He explains raising his hands to show his bound hands. The same as mine. "My mother is the only family I have left, my father was a traitor to the Sierran Council and abused my mother. He left the planet and I haven't seen him since." he adds with a slight disgusted look on his face as he recalls it.

I sit up a little more, slightly interested. He notices and chuckles, "Mother had a small job, it didn't pay well but she was always there to support me. She's the reason I became a Knight, to stop people like my father from hurting innocents like my mother..."

Smiling a little I nod in his direction, "Noble of you.." He nods his head a little and we fall into a comfortable silence.

It was noble of him to stop people like his father, and his story was sad but I still didn't trust him. Trust was something people would have to work a lot at with me now since what happened. "How'd you get in here?" I question, breaking the silence.

My light pink eyes meet his blue ones and he runs a hand through his dark hair, closing his eyes as if to recall. "I was in the system heading back to Kireina when I got a distress call from a planet, after patching it through to my team back on Kireina I started to head towards the coordinates but it ended almost as quickly as it came. A few minutes later that's when Jacen showed up. His lackey ship captured and brought me in."

I was in shock, he was responding to the distress call? So someone had heard it, but he just got unlucky enough to get captured. "Know anyone named Katlina?" I question, my heart pounding as I look back up to him.

He sits, puzzled before a look of recognition crosses his face, "Yeah! But she was discharged from the Knight's Of Peace and I haven't heard from her since... Why?"

I growl and gesture to the force field, "Hate to break it to you but I think your old friend is partnering up with the person who put you here."

The Knight glances at the force field and then back to me with a 'Really?' look written all over his face. Nodding his face quickly turns to anger, "Why?" I shrug, if I knew myself I would have said so but alas I didn't. "It doesn't make any sense.." He mutters.

I laugh feeling it reverberate throughout my chest, "Nothing does any more, I don't even know how long I've been in here.."

He nods and rests his arms on his bent legs before silence envelops us again. It had been a long while since I had seen our sun too. Would I ever get out of here? If the Knight got his cuffs off he could leave but I doubted that Jacen or Vespasian would let him out of them.

Speaking of the devil.. I think as I hear the familiar pound of boots echo down the tinium hallway. Vespasian was coming to our cell, hopefully not for another one of Jacen's experiments.

The footsteps got louder and closer, making my heart pound in anticipation. I see the familiar long brown dreads coming around the corner and Vespasian stares into our cell with his terrifying yellow eyes. "Get plenty of rest, Jacen is planning a little trip to somewhere your familiar with tomorrow.." He exclaims staring at me and my breathing froze as he walked away.

"Home.." I mutter to myself. Why was Jacen bringing me home?
