THE SUN WAS SHINING through the curtains like golden rain, washing the dark sheets in yellow light and warmth, as if their bodies weren't enough. the ravenette had gotten up minutes before, the sheets falling from his waist and exposing his bare torso.
taehyung stared freely, his head propped up against numerous pillows and a lazy smile on his face. he was so happy, and he couldn't picture a morning that could be any better then this one.
after leaving the warehouse last night, jungkook stopped to pick up the most junk food and takeout for the two of them. they sat on his bed until all the stars were out and the sky was a blanket of black velvet, a card deck in front of them as taehyung kept trying to win at uno and having no luck. sometimes it sucked that jungkook was ruthless, he didn't hesitate to throw out those pick 4 cards.
"crepes?" the ravenette asked, walking out of the room in nothing but a pair of sweatpants hanging low on his hips.
taehyung followed, his buttoned pajama set soft against his skin and matching the pale yellow socks on his feet. "yes please." his stomach growled, if that wasn't enough of an answer on its own.
the couple walked out to the kitchen, each grabbing what they needed to help prepare a simple breakfast. jungkook started on the crepes while taehyung started cutting some fruit, particularly the strawberries and even some mangos. he wasn't about to not include his favorite, or sneak a few pieces while he cut them.
"share." jungkook said, nudging the boys bottom with the end of the spatula, a playful smile on his lips.
taehyung giggled and turned around, plopping a strawberry into his boyfriends mouth. his lips followed after, and jungkook seemed to like the taste of both.
they finally pulled away, but neither stepped back, the space between them still practically nonexistent. jungkook sighed softly, his thumb rubbing back and forth against the boys jaw. "you know you mean the most to me, right?" he finally spoke.
taehyungs eyebrows furrowed a bit, slightly confused as to why he'd be reassuring him right now. "yes kook, i know that." he said.
"good." jungkook released his grip on the brunette and grabbed their plates, "let go sit." he said, walking around to the counter. he didn't have a table, but taehyung finally got him to buy at least two stools so they had somewhere to sit and eat.
"o-okay." taehyung said, following with a tight smile. he wasn't sure what was up, but there was something, and he didn't like the feeling in his stomach.
normally he liked the way jungkook would stare at him, that steady gaze and dark orbs locked only on him as if he could easily peer into his whole soul. taehyung loved it, he loved the attention, but right now he kind of wanted to punch his boyfriend in the face and scream at him.
"okay dude." taehyung dropped his fork onto the plate and gave up trying to enjoy his cut fruit. "you're stressing me out."
"i have to tell you something." jungkook said, "and you know i'm always honest with you."
it's true, there never really was a time where the two boys were super blunt with each other. for goodness sakes, the ravenette came out and told him he was robbing his father. they really didn't have any issues in the honesty department. "i know you are." taehyung said, now forgetting his meal completely and turning on the stool to face the other.
"— and this job," jungkook continued, "its a lot and i'm trying to figure things out."
"and your doing great, you're doing your best to keep everyone safe." the brunette nodded, a small smile on his lips. he was so encouraging, so understanding. jungkook hated it — why did his boyfriend have to be so perfect, especially while he would just screw it all up.
the ravenette just sighed, his hands resting on the boys tan ones. the hesitation was clear, and taehyung was practically leaning forward and just straining to hear what he had to say. it was nothing he had expected, and if he could unhear it he would.
"i went and saw seohyun yesterday." jungkook said.
"wait what."
"and i kissed her."
"excuse me?" taehyung dropped his hands, and he stood now. no longer sweet and understanding because that could only go so far. there were lines and there were rules, especially when it comes to relationships. taehyung didn't care if this was a job or some stupid plan, his feelings were not a part of it.
jungkook was standing as well, and he had that look in his eyes where he was about to go all professional and serious. taehyung wasn't having it, because he was just going to be immature and not listen to anything.
"let me explain, its part of the plan-" the raven boy couldn't even get the rest of his words out before the closest thing to his boyfriend was grabbed and thrown at him. it happened to be a roll of newspapers.
"you dumb fuck that's not an excuse!" taehyung yelled, "you can't go and do shit and then say it's part of this job! i've has to deal with you lying and leaving and now kissing your ex fiancé? are you kidding me? what the hell am i suppose to do with this now?"
jungkook sighed and blocked another item being thrown. a tissue box. "you can calm down and listen to me." he said.
"oh fuck off!" taehyung said, putting an end to any 'talking' that could have happened.
maybe taehyung was more upset with how he felt, or the lack of what he felt. after hearing this he expected to cry or to throw more of a tantrum, or even have his boyfriend seem a little more distraught with his actions. it was all very anticlimactic. maybe because he was kind of expecting it, not necessarily with seohyun specifically, but taehyung had a feeling something was wrong — and he wanted to know what was on his boyfriend mind, but now he just looked at the ravenette, and saw how handsome he was just standing there with his fingers rubbing the side of his head.
taehyung wished he was a fool, a pretty little thing that didn't know any better and could pretend like nothing bad happened in the world. that's not the case, and slumped to the floor with his head in hands. the ache in his heart remained, and he didn't try to yell or argue anymore as jungkook walked away with a grunt.
he knows he loves him, and he knows jungkook wouldn't deliberately hurt him. but that doesn't mean taehyung still wasn't hurt, because the pain in his chest was evident enough. it didn't matter if the kiss meant nothing, because there's no way it didn't — he loved her once and she was the one that left him, that doesn't mean jungkook suddenly had no feelings left.
the thought of that is what scared taehyung most, and what made him most angry. everything he's done and left behind just for jungkook, for them — just to have it all seem like it was crashing down and he didn't know how to catch it.
"come on." jungkook came back our from his room, newly dressed and coat in his hands, it was taehyungs. "we have to talk."
"whatever." taehyung said, standing up and grabbing the fashionable outwear. he didn't even care about changing, simply putting the coat on over his pajamas and tying it shut.
that's how it remained, the tense silence down to the car and the whole ride to the warehouse. it was a recipe for a disaster, because their issue only grew as the metal doors opened, and the anger on the other side that was waiting for the ravenette said hello.
