Prologue

Dearest gentle reader,
It's with great pleasure that this author is to announce
the return of one of the ton's wayward daughters,
Josephine Rowlington, who has been away for
eight years by now is set to return home from her long
stay at the finishing school in Paris. The last time
she was here was last year for the burial of the
late Lord Rowlington.

Josephine stared out the window of the carriage with a far away look in her eyes. The gentle bumping sound of the wheels going over rock the only thing that really filled the air.

Shouldn't she be happy now that she was returning home? She should feel thrilled to return to the place she was born yet she can't really say the place she grew up.

Her mind raced as she wondered about what would be awaiting her. She sighed as she laid her head back, eyes closing as she wanted to block out all that could happen.

Josephine was sent away at the age of twelve, her true rebellious spirit showing at such a young age, the parents feared for the girl. They wanted her to he respectable and keep up the family's honor.

Louis was sitting in Whites, looking at the paperwork before him, scotch sitting on the table beside him. The eldest Rowlington sibling was locked into his work that he didn't notice one of his eldest friend sit across from him.

Brandon Edgerton was one of his few friends, having met through Anthony Bridgerton. "Louis." He greeted him with a faint smile crossing his face. The man turned his eyes towards his friend as he sat down the paper he was holding. "Oh, Brandon I did not see you walk up." The tone in his voice was apologetic as he gave him his full attention.

"You rarely see anything when you're focused." Brandon replied, showing no hard feelings between the friends. "So, my friend," Brandon leaned forward slightly as he spoke. "I've heard a rumor that Lady Whistledown wrote about and was wondering if it was true.." before he could even get out what he's heard Louis looked up at him.

"You should know by know that I hardly take part in rumors or that Lady Whistledown." His voice held slight disdain for the mystery woman.

"Yes but this is about your family so you would know the answer. Three certain Bridgertons are buzzing with the idea that your darling sister Josephine is to return. Is that true?" He asked with a glint of wonder in his eye.

Brandon truly wondered by everyone even Lady Whistledown was entranced with her return, some going as far as claiming her one of the most eligible daughters of the ton. But that perhaps was due to the fact she was coming back from Paris; a exotic creature for the Queen to place on a alter to be gawked at and desired.

"That is true.." The smallest smile curling up the edge of his lips. "She is set to return later this day." He nodded his head happily. He had to admit he missed his sister greatly.

"I vaugly remember her, she was a kind little thing." Brandon lounged back in his chair as he spoke, his eyes widening slightly in shock to hear the laugh that left Louis. "She was the devil." He shot back to his friend.

Brandon chuckled slightly at that. "I must say I sort of join in their excitement. She'll bring some much need life to the ton." He commented happily. Louis giving him a perplexed look. "You are excited for Josephine's return? You hardly knew her then, merely greeting each other in passing."

"That I get my friend, but I know the rest of the Rowlington family in varying degrees but I know nothing of this Josephine apart from her name." Brandon stood up, clapping the man on the shoulder. "I shall see her at Lady Danbury's ball, correct?"

"Yes, unless you show at my house before then, that is when you shall meet." Louis confirmed his friend, who he thought highly of...but he knew what Brandon could be like when it came to women even if Josephine would give him a run for what he is worth, he doesn't want to see his site treated like that.

Brandon casted a smile at him. "Till then." He bid him farewell before heading out of the gentleman's club.

The Rowlington household was buzzing with excitement as the mother and four siblings awaited Josephine outside. Two friends joining them as well, Molly Blake and Charles Lockridge.

Charles stood closer to Thomas then anyone else, him being the friend he was most comfortable with. The two got along amazingly and Charles was a bit anxious at the idea of meeting Thomas's twin sister. "You'll love her, she's great." Thomas told him with a bright smile on his face.

Charles returning the kind smile, he hoped that 2as true it would be nice have another freind around the ton being so new to the area. Just then the sound of a carriage caught everyone's attention as they turned the direction it was coming from.

As it drew to  a stop, the door opened as the one of the couch men got out, offering a hand to the young woman inside. Shock coveted the faces of the family, seeing her step out. Josephine grew into her looks well and seemed so much like a proper lady now.

"Tommy!" She said with excitement, all manners being cast away as she rushed to her twin brother. She lunched herself into his arm, the boy easily catching her and embracing her. As soon as she was set back on the ground Elmer had picked her up, almost throwing her completely over his shoulder.

"Elmer!" Ida said disapprovingly, only making the blonde boy laugh. Josephine was shocked by such a greeting as was Molly, the girl knowing him to be a player but rather cold at times. "I've missed my sister." He said simply with a chuckle as he sat her down. The rest of the family embracing her, some of the few people Josephine was okay with hugging.

"Jo, this is Charles." Thomas said bring Josephine over to the boy. Her eyes skimmed over the boy, a shy look crossing his face as he stood there awkwardly meeting rather like a mouse under the cunning gaze of the sky cat, stalking it's prey. "A pleasure I'm sure." She spoke with a dip of her head before turning towrads other things.

Charles was glad to have her intense gaze off of him. "She's definitely...interesting." The soft spoken boy said with a hint of a smile. Thomas grinning happily at that, sure that it was some sort of a compliment.

Molly was giddy at her return, moving forward to embrace Josephine but the girl moved back to avoid the hug, offering a hand out to her. A embarrassed blush crossed Molly's cheeks as she grabbed Josephine's hand.

Louis was helping with her bags.,thinking of how to tell her that tomorrow she would be launched into society was a eligible woman, ready for marriage.

But what has prompted the return of this girl?
Surly it wasn't her idea to come back home to be
married, perhaps the esteemed Louis Rowlington has
grown weary of his headstrong sister,
wishing for the girl to finally be settled down....or
perhaps out of is hands to some poor man unaware of what lies in store

Yours truly, Lady Whistledown

A short starter! Characters will be introduced in the next chapter!

Also normally I make mood boards for couples but I haven't yet so I figured a fun way would be having all guess once a guess is correct make the mood boards and put it in  the graphics! : ) If you know one hundred percent who a couple is because we've talked about it don't guess please!

Also question, does your character read Lady Whistledown and their thoughts on her?
