Chapter 10

A party of a lifetime

Hello readers, it has been longer then a day and for that we apologize. Due to some unforseen circumstances having trouble finding someone to deliver this for you all. It has been two days since the Vauxhall ball.

The past days have been interesting to say the least, if you have been reading the latest of Whistledown you shall see that Miss Daphne Bridgerton has definitely seemed to snag a Duke. But while Lady Whistledown is so peeked at talking about that fact we will leave Daphne out of this sheet for now at least.

Lord Rowlington has been seen speaking multiple times with a young woman of such grace, some wonder what his intentions are? Could the stoic man be willing to take a wife? Maybe time shall tell.

That young woman is none other then Miss Estella Di Giovanni, a well accomplished woman who deserves more recognition then just being the object of a titled man's eye.

It is a unfortunate truth that in this society women are viewed as the objects of men. Which will hopefully change with this paper as well as Miss Estella being such a example of independence and the wonderful thing that could be if women were able to do what they wish.

Estella is a fiery well read woman, she requires no man to take care of her. She is a woman who is a wonderful person to look up to.

Women deserve the same treatment as men do in this world, if a woman is "not intact", if you will, she is ruined and tainted, seen as nothing more then a common whore. Yet if a man has been with a woman he is experienced and not looked down upon.

The cruelty of what women must endure is unending. The dreams of young girls crushed, suffocated by the weight of expectations and the dress they must wear. The corsets when are squeezed into making it troublesome to breath and even more to move.

The impressionable minds of young girls being trained that they are nothing more then baby makers and forced wives, if you do not marry you are a spinster, cast out from society.

But that will be enough on that as I wish to not expose to much of my thoughts because I can assure you, you know us, I wouldn't want the secret out now would I?

Perhaps in the next issue if we see interest showed though the ton, we might just write to you our thoughts on the eligible men and women of the season.

Till next time, Eclipse from The Midnight Sun and Constellation from The Midnight Sun

Gwendolyn was preparing for the first "ball" she would hold for the ton.. well the youth of the ton. She only invited a select few as this was a time to embrace being young and living like that was not expected of you.

She felt a proudness to be able to bring this to the ton, to show that life isn't always how the Mamas of the ton would force it to be.

The young woman smirking to herself as she brushed off her hands as if there was dirt on them. All that is left to wait for those she invited to arrive.

Robert was the first to arrive on time, the man looking around a bit confused. "Where are the others?" He inquired curiously as he caught Gwendolyn's attention. "They will arrive shortly I am sure, welcome to the best night of your life, Robert." She spoke his name so casually.

He was a bit put off but something seemed oddly nice by having a space where no one was expected to act as if they were nothing but characters in a play, reading the script life has provided them.

Soon people arrived, music playing through the room as laughter filled it, more people relaxing into the calm atmosphere that Gwendolyn has provided.

Philip was smiling some as he spoke to Robert, the two laughing as if they had been old friends but that could also partly be due to what is in the cups that they held, a soft brown liquid gleaming dangerously in the glass.

Robert turning a light pink as Philip laughed again, placing his hand on the other man's arm. The two slowly growing accustomed to having the other near.

Brandon was standing off to the side as he waited his friends to arrive, he has yet to see any Bridgerton or Rowlington arrive to the party. His eyes flickering towards the door on occasion before a woman waltzed up to him, a obvious drunken smile on her red tinted lips.

He looked towards the girl but had no recognition as to who she was. Brandon was aware of hd reputation of being a bit of a rake, in the past he rarely turned down a woman who approached him.

"Hello,my lord." Her words came out a bit slurred as she looked up at him with the sparkle of bourbon in her eyes. "Good evening miss. I think that you have the wrong man." He told her in a gentle manner, assume she was seeking out a different man, one she has spoken with before.

"No I think not. Lord Edgerton." She giggled as she placed her hands against his chest in a flirty manner. Brandon's smile turned to one of awkwardness as he took her hands and removed them from his chest. "I am flattered, truly. But I am afraid I must steer you away." The girl's face shifted, a sudden soberness crossing her delicate features. "P-pardon?" She stammered over her words, now embarrassed of the fool she felt like.

"It is not you, you seem perfectly lovely. But there's this woman..she may not know yet how I feel for her but she is becoming my everything." He smiled wistfully as he thought. The woman before him now didn't look at him with embarrassment any longer but with a admiration. "I hope she soon realizes what sort of man she has." She hurried off after that not wishing to embarrass herself any further.

Phoebe was dancing through the room, a young man laughing as he spun her around. The sort of smile filled her face that made Emilio scowl at he adored the smile but didn't like the other man bringing it to her face.

Why he felt this way? Emilio as of yet was unsure but he knew that he would prefer Phoebe talking with him as they make their usual turns around the room as she rambled on about whatever popped into that beautiful mind of hers. He took a deep breath as he stood from the couch he was lounging on as he made his way to the floor.

"Pardon me, may I cut in?" Emilio asked with such a polite tone. Phoebe blushed softly as he hand left the one man's before placing in Emilio's. He felt a pride to see the pink dusting her face as he pulled her close, the two starting to move with the music that played.

Abigail was lingering to the side when a presence was felt beside her, turning she noticed Colin Bridgerton was once again by her side. "Mister Bridgerton." She greeted with a soft grin on her face, thinking she was still a mystery to him.

"Good evening Miss Abigail Ratchford." Colin replied as he looked towards her, taking note of the surprised look that crossed her graceful features. A soft but proud smile crossing his face.

Abigail readjusted the look on her face as she chuckled softly. "I knew you would figure it out." Her tone was light as she spoke to him. Colin couldn't help but smile as well. "May I have this dance?" He offered his hand out to her, shocked when she placed her hand into his.

Delilah had been buzzing happily around the party, talking to everyone who would talk to her and that was pretty much everyone. It was rare to find a person who didn't like the sunshine beauty.

A small, delightful squeal leaving her lips when she saw Clara walking in, showing the arrival of the Rowlington siblings. She rushed towards the girl, not taking not of the way her eyes seemed unfocused, the slight slump in her usually straight shoulders.

"Clara! So good to see you here!" She giggled as she took Clara's hands in her own. While Clara took a moment to look at her she couldn't help but smile softly. "Hello Delilah." Her voice was softer then usual as she allowed her friend to lead her further into the room, into a distraction.

Molly was glancing around when she locked eyes with Elmer, something seemed off with the boy but she couldn't place anything beyond the redrim of his eyes and the stone cold expression on his face.

She looked confused as she stood up from the couch she was residing, placing the tea she was sipping to the side. She crossed the room and stood in front of her friend's brother. "Are you alright?" She asked softly and concerned.

"Physical I am perfectly fine." Elmer said as he gave a tight-lipped smile. Molly's head tilting her head to the side. "And mentally? Emotionally?" She spoke so softly and nervously.
"Mentally and emotionally? I think that I need a strong drink." Elmer said in a dismissive tone as he looked away from her.

Louis had the look of worry drawn clearly across his face. Estella seeing the man, she frowned slightly as she walked towards him. "You look more stern and concerned then usual." She commented as she reached his side, drawing his attention from the room over towards her.

Charles noticed the Rowlington siblings arriving at the party but soon noticed Thomas was not amongst them, neither was Josephine. A confused look crossed his face as he started towards him. He didn't notice that Brandon was following as well as he noticed the girl was not there.

"Yes ..I suppose I am." Louis said almost absently as he tried to rejoin the presence instead of the thoughts racing through his mind. Estella frowning a bit as she gently placed her hand against his arm. "Is something wrong?"

"Louis, where is Josephine?" Brandon asked as him and Charles reached him. Charles hoping that the answer included the whereabouts of Thomas as well.

Louis frowned a bit more at the questions. "Josephine is... unwell. Thomas is tending to her." The way he spoke made it clear that there was more then what he cared to say, unsure of what Josephine would allow them to know.

"What do you mean? Can I see her?" Brandon asked concerned as he stepped closer to his friend. Estella's hand falling from Louis's arm, in that time some illnesses could spell out the end for many people.

"You can see her I suppose but she will not  know." Louis said with a sigh, the statement confused Charles. "W...what do you mean she will not know?" He questioned.

"She is asleep.' Louis said, seeing the confused looks on the three faces that looked back at him, knowing that they didn't understand her situation. Deciding he had to elaborate in order to make sure they were prepared for what they might come to learn.

"She has been asleep for two days."
