Florence envied humans.

She envied the bubble of ignorance they lived in, the sense of freedom they carried, the normality they wrapped themselves in, living in a world where the supernatural was just Halloween costumes, bed time stories and folklore. She - unluckily - was not normal. She couldn't deny the tingle in her fingers, the magic coursing through her veins, the alarm bells that went in her head as she felt another supernatural being nearby. She couldn't deny the pull her magic felt towards other beings like her, the way nature whispered to her, the way she could light a candle with a twist of her hand. She couldn't deny her nature, the witchcraft that was passed down from mother to daughter in her bloodline, the gift she had been given.

Florence couldn't deny her nature, she couldn't just turn her back on centuries of practice and sacrifice of her ancestors on a simple wish of being human, just so she could feel as if she fit amongst her friends and her step sister, Bella Swan. The gift she had, the gift her mother had, was a force that was undeniable. Ignoring it only postponing the inevitable, the burst of power that would escape her fingertips at the slightest overwhelming emotion. So, Florence indulged in it, under the guidance of her mother prior to her passing. She watched her mother perform the smallest of spells and thought herself to be better. The envy she felt, the longing to be normal passed, leaving Florence to hide her true nature and blend to the best of her abilities around people and friends.

Until she had to move to Forks, a choice she made willingly for her father's happiness. That's when the glamour she worked tirelessly on to make herself fit in began to slip as she found herself cornered by vampires and werewolves alike with no choice but to ally with them against a bigger evil.

AUTHOR'S NOTE

Finally overcame my Mabusen trauma ( iykyk ) and decided to stop being a coward and write a Twilight fic. It has been so long since I dabbled into this fandom and I've missed it low-key. I can also say I evolved from a vampire girl to a werewolf girl, hence why this is a Paul fic. The Cullens are great in their own way but I will dabble into the werewolves more because they're so interesting and Stephanie Meyer has done them so dirty and wrong in her books it's insane. That woman should not be allowed to write a book EVER again. This book is mostly me abolishing as many popular tropes as I can. "Evil step sister?" Nah, Florence is about to be the nr.1 Bella Swan defender and protector. And also this is just me adding witches into every fandom possible because witches just make everything better ✨

Florence is the absolute baby girl of this universe, she is such a powerhouse ( literally ). She is so dear to me and her relationships are gonna be my absolute favourite part of this fic. Her and Bella develop such a good relationship that will outlive Bella's human life. My favourite relationship of all is gonna be Florence and Charlie. I am gonna have such a BLAST absolutely developing their father-daughter bond. As always, I have to add a "haunt the narrative" OC and that is Florence's mother, who remains unnamed and faceless and yet is such a central part of Florence's life as a witch, especially with her new found duty of protecting Bella and Forks all together. It wouldn't be a Skylar chainbrekker classic without the key central OC that haunts the narrative. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the fic and Florence as much as I do 🥰🥰
