Prologue

Summer's end

TW- homophobic slur

Louis was driving towards the college campus, Clara in the passenger seat and Josephine sitting quietly in the back. Her eyes trained out the window at the passing scenery. "Are you excited Josie?" The eldest of the three asked as he glanced back towards her.

Lifting her head she looked at him, flashing a sweet smile, but it wasn't completely real. "Yes... nervous though." She has spent most of her life in a Catholic all girls school, strict nuns watching her every move it seemed.

So it was thrilling to be leaving that environment but scary to be entering a new one completely. So when Louis parked the car and she gazed up at the massive stone structure the usually confident girl felt so small under it's watchful stone gaze.

Josephine took a deep breath as she undid he seatbelt, sliding out of the car till her feet hit the ground. Louis already out and grabbing the bags from out of the trunk, handing them to the respective person it belongs to.

"Josephine?!" A woman's cheerful voice almost screeched with excitement, Josephine's eyes turning over to see Delilah looking towards her. A huge smile spread across Josephine's face as she saw her. "DeDe!" The two girls ran to embrace, meeting each other half way.

Delilah has known the Rowlington family for years, always being close with the two girls of the family. Delilah was a sweet girl, a girl who loved nature and art and just having a nice and peaceful day.

Delilah was the one who would mellow out the other two, get them to have a more relaxed day. Clara looked towards their friend with a soft glint in her eye. It was no secret around the dorms that Clara had a major soft spot for the girl and yet Delilah didn't seem to have a clue.

Louis looked at the three girls with a soft smile. "I'll be back, I'm going to bring my bags up." He told them.

They waved him a farewell as Delilah helped grab the girl's bags just so she could walk with them, they were heading in the same direction anyway. "I'm so glad you are here! Are you one of our new roommates?" That throw Josephine off guard.

"She is." Clara confirmed when she saw the look that crossed Josephine's face. "H-How many roommates are there?" Josephine asked unsurely as she glanced between the two. "Oh you didn't know! Well it's  me, you, Clara, Louis, Estella, Brandon and Ares, he's new too I met him earlier. He seems so sweet! There's another one, but either they haven't moved in yet or they haven't been selected yet." Delilah explained to the now anxious looking Josephine.

As they walked up the stairs Josephine was just trying to prepare herself for meeting all the new people. The door opened to show the flat. It was nice with a bunch of doors leading off to the sides which she would assume are bedrooms and bathrooms, a good sized living room and a kitchen, Josephine instantly liking that the kitchen wasn't tiny.

In the kitchen was a woman, her hair pulled back as she was making herself a snack. She looked up when she heard the door open. "Clara, Delilah hey!" She greeted them happily as she carried her plate over, her eyes going to Josephine. "Who's this?"

"This is Clara and Louis's little sister, Josephine." Delilah introduced her happily. Josephine didn't mind one bit when Delilah spoke for her as it just meant that Josephine didn't have to.

"Nice to meet you I'm Stella." She offered her hand, though hesitating slightly Josephine took her hand to shake. Estella could feel the rough scars on her hand but didn't say a thing about it as she just gave her a smile.

"Is anyone else here?" Delilah asked as she looked around not seeing anyone. "Brandon is in his room, unpacking." Stella said as she gestured to the room that would be directly across from Josephine's.

Upon hearing his name the door opened to show him, Clara had to admit if she wasn't a lesbian he would so be the one she would want. "I heard my name." He flashed a charming grin at the group of girls before noticing the new one in the mix, a little smaller then the rest but then again Clara was just fairly tall for a girl being a cheerleader.

"Hi." Brandon made the way across to her, offering out his hand. His eyes trained on Josephine's. The girl looked at him questionable before taking his hand in hers.

His eyes flickered down upon feeling the scars on her palms but seeing her pull her hand away quickly he would leave it alone...for now. "I'm Brandon." He smiled sweetly at her, a smile that would damn near melt any girl's heart.

"Josephine." She introduced as she glanced away from him. "Josephine, you're Brandon's sister?" He asked a bit shocked as he now took in her dark hair and pale green eyes.

Josephine nodded her head. "I don't know if I believe you. You are far to pretty to be related to him." He said with a soft chuckle in his voice. Estella couldn't help but roll her eyes at his flirtatious nature, he was like this with a lot of girls so she would keep a eye out to make sure he doesn't make this whole living situation awkward if he decides to pursue her next only to get bored weeks later.

"I'm going to umm head to my room." Josephine glanced towards the girls. She took a step back before turning away from him and heading into the room. All three girls eyes going to Brandon. "What?" He asked confused with a half smile on his face. "If you break her heart I will kill you Edgerton." Clara threatened with narrowed eyes.

"What Clara is trying to say is...just think this through. Don't be how you are and do something stupid." Delilah said with a soft sigh in her voice. "That's not what I was trying to say." The blonde clarified as she crossed her arms.

"I'm just being friendly." Brandon chuckled a bit as he rubbed the back of his neck. "As long as you're being friendly and not "friendly " okay?" Estella wanted to make sure he knew that this was off limits, flirting and messing around only to later give up on it wasn't going to happen.

"Okay, okay. I get it." Now he rolled his eyes. "Get what?" Louis asked as he walked into the living room to see the four gathered together and talking. "Basic mathematics, we are all shocked he caught on." Estella said with slightly narrowed eyes, telling him to disagree with her, daring to say that he thought about flirting with his best friends little sister.

Louis looked a bit confused by that but flashed a bit of a smile. "Well, I'm proud of you buddy." He laughed as he patted Brandon's shoulder.

"I'm going to make a food run, who's coming with me?" Louis asked as he grabbed the keys. "I will." Estella offered as she set her forgotten snack to the side, knowing on of tej vultures of the apartment would pick off the rest of it. Josephine peeked her head out of the room. "I will.' she offered, her, wanting to get some stuff for her upcoming classes.

Axel was heading back to his dorm from the gym, the sun was setting and not many people were out anymore, the trip back was almost uneventful but when he rounded a corner he saw four guys cornering a slightly smaller, but still athletic guy.

"What's the matter fag?" The one sneered as he shoved him back against the brick wall harshly. "What you got nothing to say?" Ares turned his eyes up towards the guy the shoved him, when he didn't say anything in response he wasn't sure what he felt first the punch or his head hitting the wall. Tears springing to his eyes at the pain flared up.

"Hey!" Axel yelled angrily, not liking that the four was ganging up on him. The boy walked closer with narrowed eyes, swinging on the first one he got to. Ares looking towards him in shock that he is was defending him, that he is was fighting a fight he didn't have to.

Axel was a boxer so these guys had nothing on him, even the punches they did land did little to faze him. Eventually the group gave up and left. Axel turning to look at Ares, his face having some bruising and a bit of blood. After a moment Axel scoffed, walking away from Ares. "Can't even say thank you? Well fuck you too." Axel grumbled under his breath as he finished the trek to his apartment.

When he arrived he saw the eviction notice on the door. "Well isn't that just fucking great?!" He groaned as he leaned his head back, unlocking the door. He had two days to get out and find a new place to stay.

Wonderful
