Chapter Twenty-Four
Sam
I stood there in disbelief, watching as Ty's father dragged him out of the airport by his arm. I didn't know what to do. I was just some kid who had no say in what Ty could or couldn't do. Hot tears ran down my cheeks as my feet felt like they weighed a thousand pounds each. I couldn't move, I couldn't scream after Ty. I couldn't do anything.
Instead, I started to crumble to the ground as a sob escaped my throat.
"Sam? I got ya bud." I recognized the voice of my mentor, James, as his arms caught me before I hit the floor. "Stand up," he encouraged, my own feet that weighed so much a moment ago now weak and barely able to hold me up. "Shhh, Sam, I got you, what happened? Where's Ty?"
"He took him," I cried, unable to catch my breath as I started to hiccup.
"Who took him?"
"His dad," I wiped away my tears so I could see James' face but it was just so blurry, "Ty's dad was waiting here for him and he grabbed him. I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye. He said, he said..." I hiccupped, again, cursing under my breath that I could barely talk, "he said Ty can't see me anymore." I cried even harder saying those words out loud. "I can't live without him!" James hugged me tightly, running his hands up and down my back.
"I got you, Sam, take a breath, breathe for me." I tried to listen to James but I couldn't. I gasped for breath as I continued to sob in his arms.
My only reason for living was just taken away from me and I didn't know how to move forward.
"C'mon, Sam, let's get out of here and get to the track. I don't know how to fix this but I'm going to." I couldn't speak, only walking out of the airport with my hat hung down low as tears clouded my vision.
I didn't want to go to the racetrack. I just wanted to go where Ty was. I knew I could see him there, but with his father could we even talk?
I took out my phone to send Ty a message, telling him how much I loved him. How I'm always going to be here for him that this isn't going to change anything. I sent the messages off, only for a message coming back saying that number was no longer in service.
I quickly got on Twitter, only to see his account was deleted, same with Instagram and Snapchat.
I went back to Twitter, in hopes he could get online somehow and see my message.
@sam_mayer_: I love you, Ty, no matter what happens, that will NEVER change.
I knew that was going to out us, but I didn't care at this moment. Ty was my one true love and I was going to do anything in my might to get him back.

I stood by my car in the garage when I saw Ty walking out of his hauler. "Ty!" I yelled, running towards him but he shook his head no, causing me to stop dead in my tracks. He looked absolutely horrible. There was no life in his eyes as he looked at me. We were only a few hundred feet away but yet it felt like we were worlds apart.
I wanted to run to him, to engulf him in my arms but couldn't. His father stepped out of the hauler and placed his hand on Ty's shoulder, walking him over towards his car which was only a little bit further from mine.
I hated this so fucking much! How was I supposed to talk to him again?
"Yo, Mayer! Got someone asking for you." I sighed, watching Ty disappear into the garage knowing practice was going to start for them soon. So I put on my fake smile and went up to the window.
"What would you say if I had a plan on getting you and Ty back together?" I looked up and saw my biggest fan Amanda standing before me with a giant smile on her face.
"Amanda?" I placed my finger up, telling her to hold on and quickly ran around the garage so I could see her face to face. I gave her a giant hug, finally meeting the one person who always kept me grounded. "I can't believe you're here!"
"Well, yeah, I had to be here to see my favorite driver on his Xfinity debut."
"It's so crazy, isn't it?" I smiled and then let it fade, when I realized it was also Ty's debut and I couldn't be by his side. Amanda could see the hurt in my eyes and gave me a soft smile.
"I saw your tweet about Ty, tell me everything." I sighed, grabbing her hand as we walked over to a bench and told her the whole story.
"Funny how that happened, isn't it? The last person you ever expected to fall in love with is the one you do. I'm so happy for you, sucks I can't have you for myself, but if Ty makes you happy, then he's going to be worth fighting for."
"He is, Amanda, I love him so much."
"I know what happened. I was at the airport waiting for my Uber when Ty was screaming at his dad. I wanted to help but there was no use. I knew something was up when I saw your tweet and then I put two and two together. But I have a plan, do you trust me?"
"With my whole heart."
"Good, because the only way it's going to work is if you trust me." I pulled Amanda into another hug and told her I'd do anything to get Ty back, even if it meant to walk away from racing because I love him that much.
