Prologue

I sat in my room atop my bed, which was covered in a deep red bed spread. The color was ugly to me. I wished it to be a blue color, or green, maybe. I dusted my clothes, an orange shirt and dark jeans, and stood. My sister must be awaiting me. Technically, I have two sisters, Angelica and Peggy. But, I've never met Angelica. She's an angel, and well, we're segregated. I've never seen an angel, as I am a devil. I hate saying that though. I don't want to be referred to as an evil creature. I may have a pointed tail and horns, but I'm no ugly monster. Peggy's like me, she's a devil. Everyone is born different, usually from DNA. My grandmother on my mother's side is an angel, so we assume that's where Angie got it from.

Now, I exit my room. Sure enough, Peggy's impatiently tapping her foot as her tail swishes side to side and she has this annoyed expression. I sheepishly follow her out the door after putting a jacket on, which is black leather with silver spikes.

Peggy huffs. "What took you so long?" she hisses.

I can only shrug in reply as we trudge down the street. "Sorry..." I mutter.

She rolls her eyes. "Anyways, I heard about another runaway." she starts.

My attention is grabbed. Runaways are devils who run to where angels are, or vise versa. "Really?"

Peggy nods. "This one, a boy, he went and eloped with some angel girl. They're cute and all, but devils ajd angels mixing? Ew." She says.

I stop paying attention when she says eloped. A devil and an angel married? And they weren't killed yet?? I was intrigued. "How are they alive?" I ask.

Peggy shrugs. "They ran off without a trace. Just disappeared, the two of 'em."

I nod. "Weird."

There's a silence as we get close to finishing our loop around our neighborhood. "So, what's the main reason you wanted to talk?" I say, brealing the quiet.

"Our sister is visiting us." she says, without hesitation.

"Really?" I say, fairly surprised. "How?"

Peggy shrugs. "She texted me so."

"You have your number?" I said, more confused now.

She just ahrugs again. "We're home." And then she runs inside, leaving me outside. I shiver as I walk in. An angel and a devil eloped. I can't seem to get this out of my mind. It's just so fascinating to me, how it's possible. How is it possible?
