AI Phobia [Random]
I very recently found out about OpenAI's program ChatGPT and decided to try it out with a friend. So basically, we were putting in random prompts and seeing what it would make of them. One prompt that I gave the AI was to write a fictional scene of Red Robin reacting to ChatGPT and it literally churned out a few paragraphs that made me think of what Tim would actually react with (because let's be honest, the AI made it seem like a Tim fanfic in which the Mary Sue is played by the AI itself so...)
Anyways, here's a one-shot based on that and Tim will be reacting to what the AI wrote based on the prompt we gave. The response generated by the AI is copy pasted here and will be in Italics and underlined.
Hope you guys enjoy it because I sure had a fun time writing this.

Ever since the whole reading fiasco that the family had been in due to Tim discovering Wattpad, he should have known better and laid off from checking out new things that he heard about. But lately, there had been a lot of buzz about an AI that could generate responses to questions or prompts so he decided to look at it himself.
He knew he would regret finding out about it but then he was known for taking bad personal decisions that wasted the very little free time he had.
He found the site and created an account, being able to access the AI.
"What should I type in?" He thought, leaning back in his seat as he considered, "maybe I should just type what I am going to do and see what this AI has to say about it."
But instead of giving the prompt Timothy Drake reacting to ChatGPT, he used his other identity, thinking that the AI would be able to find more content with Red Robin rather than his civilian self.
Words began to form on the screen and Tim took the time to wait in filling up his coffee cup. By the time he looked up, a whole paragraph was written there for him.
"Okay, let's see what you got there." He put down his cup and began to read.
Red Robin had heard about ChatGPT from his colleagues in the superhero community. He had been curious about this AI language model for a while and decided to try it out himself. After typing out his question, he waited for the response, wondering if it would live up to its reputation.
Suddenly, a message popped up on his screen. "Hello Red Robin, I am ChatGPT. How can I assist you today?"
His eyes widened in surprise. "Whoa, this thing actually works!" he exclaimed to himself.
"Of course I know it would work," Tim mumbled, "it actually takes a lot to surprise me due to the family I live in."
He paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts, and then typed out his next question. "Can you tell me about any new threats to Gotham City?"
"Wow, me and gathering my thoughts? Never."
ChatGPT's response was almost instant. "Recent reports suggest that the Penguin has been expanding his criminal activities in the city. There have also been rumors of a new villain on the rise, but the details are unclear at this time."
He was impressed by ChatGPT's quick and accurate response. "This is amazing!" he thought to himself. "I can get real-time updates on threats to the city without having to rely on the usual channels."
He stared at the screen but didn't say anything yet, trying to process what was going on.
He continued to ask ChatGPT questions, each time receiving prompt and helpful responses. He couldn't believe how much information he was able to gather in such a short amount of time.
As he continued to interact with ChatGPT, Red Robin couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and wonder. This technology was truly amazing, and he knew that it had the potential to revolutionize the way superheroes like him fought crime.
"In my defense, I think nothing of that sort," he mumbled, "I believe AIs are evil and will take over the world. This has just somehow strengthened my opinion here."
"Thanks, ChatGPT," he typed, feeling grateful for the assistance. "You're a real asset to the superhero community."
"Wait what? Asset? To the superhero community? Holy fudge nuts..."
ChatGPT replied with a simple, "You're welcome, Red Robin. Stay safe out there." And with that, he closed his laptop, feeling more confident and prepared than ever before.
"Oh no, it's continuing... Why is it still typing? How do I make it stop... Guess I will have to read until it stops."
With a newfound sense of confidence, Red Robin started to think about how he could integrate ChatGPT into his crime-fighting strategy. He knew that this technology was a game-changer, and he wanted to make the most of it.
As he began to brainstorm, he thought back to the information that ChatGPT had provided him about the Penguin's activities in Gotham. He realized that he could use this information to plan his next move and take down the Penguin once and for all.
"What information? The only thing it gave was generic info that Penguin is expanding his criminal activity... What kind of criminal activity, hh? Drugs? Trafficking? Money Laundering? Corruption? What crime, you stupid..."
But he stopped himself and took in a deep breath before he could alert the rest of the family as it would be more chaos if Jason and Richard found out what he was doing.
Begrudgingly, he continued reading because he had a very bad habit of finishing what he had started to read at some point, unable to rest if he didn't get to know the ending.
He quickly got to work, gathering intel on the Penguin's operations and gathering his allies to form a plan of attack. With ChatGPT by his side, he felt like he had a secret weapon that could give him the edge he needed to take down the city's most dangerous criminals.
As the night wore on, Red Robin and his team moved through the shadows of Gotham, silently taking out the Penguin's men one by one. With each success, he felt a surge of adrenaline and a renewed sense of purpose.
Finally, they arrived at the Penguin's hideout. As they prepared to make their final assault, Red Robin reached for his laptop and pulled up ChatGPT.
"Yeah like I carry around a fucking laptop with me everywhere... Totally believable," his voice was dripping with sarcasm.
"ChatGPT," he typed quickly. "Any last-minute tips on how to take down the Penguin?"
ChatGPT's response was quick and concise. "The Penguin's greatest weakness is his ego. Use that to your advantage."
"Dude, I don't even listen to Bruce's advice during missions, why would I listen to an AI?"
With a smirk, he turned to his team and whispered his plan. Together, they burst into the hideout, guns blazing. In the chaos that followed, they managed to capture the Penguin and his entire operation.
"What Plan? Where are the details? I wanna know the details!"
As they made their way back to the Batcave, Red Robin couldn't help but feel grateful for ChatGPT's assistance. He knew that he couldn't have done it without this incredible technology.
And as he settled in for a well-deserved rest, he couldn't wait to see what other secrets ChatGPT held, and how he could use them to protect the citizens of Gotham City.
Silence engulfed the room until Tim spoke up, recovering from the initial shock, "did I just read a fanfic of Red Robin and an AI? Oh fuck, I did not need to picture that, shit!"
The door to his room opened, distracting him for a moment as Steph stepped in, "are you doing alright? Heard you curse twice in a sentence..."
"It's beyond me why I only cursed twice, should have done about six times in a single sentence by now," he sighed, still disappointed about what he had just read.
"What are you up to?" She checked the screen but then understood the reason for his sullen mood, "oh no... Not again, Timothy, we're all done with your random discoveries that you literally pass on to Dick and Jay and then it becomes a mess we all have to unwillingly deal with."
"I know but I had been hearing a lot about this AI thing and I just thought to check it out which was clearly a bad idea," he huffed, glaring at the screen.
She shook her head, "something tells me you knew it would be a bad idea earlier as well but still decided to check it out."
"Guilty as charged," he rolled his eyes, "and now I have somehow read a fanfic generated by this bot who clearly thinks I will be super fascinated by it. As if..."
"In all honesty, anyone who doesn't know you personally would think you will be super fascinated by technology. You're the tech guy, it's your thing."
"Yeah, I am the tech guy with an AI phobia," he interjected, "and you know how bad it is since you, of course, personally know me."
She shrugged, "frankly, I don't even care anymore. At one point it was you raving on about how aliens are going to take over the world, this time it's the same conspiracy theory but with AIs replacing the aliens."
"But can't you see, this is absolutely dangerous!" He exclaimed pointing to the screen but she had already read through the paragraphs, a smile playing upon her lips.
"You wanna know what I think about this?"
"that it's going to destroy humanity?"
"No, idiot... This seems like a really bad self-promotion ad," she remarked, "and you gave it the prompt yourself, there's no need for you to start freaking out now."
"But the kind of information it has on its disposal... It just makes me spiral thinking about it!"
"Everything makes you spiral out of control since you have a conspiracy theory generator instead of a brain in there," she added, smacking his head lightly, "now stop being stuck in a self-inflicted existential crisis and come with me, there are many more important things to do for you than to just waste your time panicking over AIs."
***
So that's it, folks.
I'll be honest, my reaction to ChatGPT was also somewhat similar to Tim's considering that I went down the rabbit hole of thinking whether the content by AIs like these would be the end of creative writing and art (I know this might sound stupid right now but it all made perfect sense in my head but I am not elaborating further).
Hope you guys enjoyed the one-shot. If you guys want me to have the Batfam react to any specific prompt from this AI, I can look it up and make another chapter on it.
For now, adios.
