Jungkook walked straight to home and closed the door in haste before attaching his back to it, as if someone was following him

"That. Was. Weird."

He shook his head to jerk the strange thoughts away. Even though he knew it wasn't jealousy he felt when Jimin yelled his final statement, he still couldn't deny the fact that it hurt his pride a little bit. Why it did? He didn't know. But Jungkook reasoned with himself that he shouldn't care about it. It was just a momentary involuntary reflexive action that didn't necessarily revolve around Taehyung. He would've reacted the same way no matter who it was about.

With that conclusion, Jungkook nodded to himself and pushed away from the door he was leaning against. After taking three steps he realized he was supposed to meet Namjoon today after breakfast but the turn of events made him come back home. Jungkook slapped his forehead before taking his phone out of his pocket and dialing said person's number as he once again stepped out of his door.

"Ah hyung. How are you?"

"Yes and I'm on my way to meet you."

"Wha- Really?"

"No! No, I mean yes. Yes, of course. I would love to."

"Thank you, hyung. Thank you so much."

"Yes, I will be there in a minute."

Jungkook ended the call and punched the air in excitement as he let out a loud cheer.

"YES! Finally!"

Finally, the day had come when he no longer needed the stupid mascot costume anymore. Finally, he could work like an actual employee. Finally, he could get more pay while doing less effort. Finally, he could sleep the amount of hours he needed. But first, he needed to get rid of the thing in his house that could remind him of his tortuous time of job till now.

"I need to burn that thing as soon as I come back home."

Jungkook mumbled to himself as he walked towards the toy store he used to pose for. Once he reached the destination he took in a deep breath before pushing the door to enter the place and face the news that had him hyped.

"Guk-ah!"

Jungkook turned his head to his left upon hearing the familiar voice of his boss and bowed before approaching him.

"Hy- I mean, sir."

Namjoon smiled fondly at him for his slip of tongue. Jungkook had developed this habit of calling Namjoon 'hyung' at all times except his work hours during which he referred to him as 'sir'. But time to time he would slip up and used them in each other's place amusing Namjoon.

"Can't you just stick to one? I'm okay with either of them."

"It feels better this way, sir."

Jungkook grinned unable to control his happiness that was about to explode soon. Namjoon could literally see the aura around him and wondered if he should or shouldn't tease him a bit but decided against it since the brunette had worked hard for more than half a year even sacrificing his sleep for it at times so it would be cruel to do that to him now.

"I can see you're already pumped for your first day as a cashier."

And that was it. Jungkook couldn't hold it in any longer. He jumped and in the next second he was around Namjoon's neck peppering him with 'thank yous'.

"Thank you, hyung. I mean, sir. Thank you thank you thank you thank you~. I can't tell you enough how grateful I am."

Namjoon let the boy be for a while before he felt himself suffocating and needing the air to breathe.

"You might want to let go now. I can't breathe."

Jungkook pulled back immediately and apologized but the grin stayed in place. It was too much to handle, after all. He never expected to be anything more than a mascot and then Namjoon went to drop this promotion bomb on him out of the blue. So, of course, he couldn't keep himself composed.

"Sorry, sir. I'm just very happy. I'll get to work now."

Jungkook bowed once again before leaving his boss to his work and moving towards his own new work area.

After a few minutes of excited leg jittering he fished out his phone to tell his brother about his promotion but didn't see who's number he dialed as he quickly put his phone to his ear. As soon as he heard the other end being connected he started bombarding the other person with his feelings without giving them a chance to say a single word.

"..and now I'm here sitting in place of a cashier, hyung. Can you believe it? Because I can't. Fuck, this is so.. So.. So.. Wow! I just ran out of words now."

"Jungkook, breathe."

Jungkook obeyed but it took another second to register in his mind that the voice didn't belong to his brother. Hell, it was no where near any of his relatives. Instead, it was of someone who's balls he was planning to shave off in revenge.

"Why are you everywhere?"

Taehyung scoffed from the other side and Jungkook could tell what was coming. It was like he could practically hear the other's mind through that scoff.

"It's not my fault that you can't stop thinking of me."

Exactly that. Jungkook knew this was going to be his response. He felt proud and infuriated at the same time. Proud because he could read the other so well and infuriated because Taehyung just ruined his moment that he was supposed to have with his brother. Now, the brunette would have to tell it all over again to his brother but it won't have that excitement that was there in the first time.

"Yeah sure. Whatever helps you sleep. Now, fuck off."

Jungkook wanted to end the call in anger but he still waited for Taehyung's response.

"Rude much?"

"You're one to talk. At least I don't go around hoeing around and flirting with everyone."

Jungkook froze when his words slipped out but it was too late. He didn't know why he said that but it didn't matter now. He could neither take them back nor did he have an explanation for what he just said. The line went silent for a while before Taehyung spoke up again, his voice dropped deadly low.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

Jungkook stayed quiet to think about his answer because Taehyung's deep low tone clearly held a huge bright sign saying 'no bullshit'. He gulped before answering but had to immediately cut the call because he had a customer.

Big mistake.

Taehyung was waiting for an answer but heard a beep instead indicating that the line went dead. Jungkook could have never thought what Taehyung would do next if Jungkook left him hanging like that. For the moment he was busy with the customer after which another one came and then a few more. He didn't get the chance to think about it or call Taehyung back and apologize. Customer after customer came and made Jungkook forget about Taehyung.

Taehyung, however, didn't. He waited. He waited for Jungkook to call back and explain. He waited for Jungkook to take it back. He waited but Jungkook never did any of that. As time passed, his stomach felt weird. No, he wasn't sick or disgusted. He was feeling a fire raging up in his pit. He needed answer. He needed to know why Jungkook said that. He needed to know if that was his own opinion or someone told him that. Because if he thought so himself, Taehyung would clarify it but if it was someone else who put that idea in his Jungkook's mind, then the blonde was going to skin that person. Nothing less.

But Jungkook never called back for Taehyung to pick what to do. So, he got up from Hoseok's bed to go and ask about it himself.

"Where are you going?"

Hoseok asked as he came back to his room with a few packets of chips and cookies only to find Taehyung leaving.

"To find out who told Jungkook that I'm a hoe."

Hoseok blinked once before laughing but as soon as his eyes met with his best friend's enraged ones he zipped up.

"Sure. I'll go too."

Taehyung didnt respond as he walked out and Hoseok followed after wondering who had a death wish written on such a bright day.
