Chapter 9
~Y/N POV~
"I'm so sorry Y/n but duty calls. Night shifts at the hospital can really be a pain."
I nodded as I showed Soyeon to the front door, opening it up for her as she got her shoes on and grabbed her jacket.
"It's no sweat. We can just have a girly night another time. I understand."
She only smiles at me, pulling me in for a hug before she swiftly leaves out the door, waving goodbye one last time before disappearing into the elevator.
I closed the door, taking my phone out my pocket to order pizza online to be delivered so I can take a quick shower before Jungkook comes home.
Ordering a traditional pepperoni pizza I left my phone on the coffee table, heading to my room to grab some pjs. Nothing special just a vest and shorts then straight into the bathroom to shower and change while in the bathroom. I didn't want to take any chances coming out in case Jungkook magically showed up out of nowhere.
Just as I finished getting dressed and grabbed my blanket from my bed the door bell went off.
Moving quickly on my feet I ran to the front door, opening it up and thanking the delivery guy for my pizza and jumped on the couch grabbing the remote.
But first.
The lights.
A horror film was my chosen victim this evening so I decided to turn off all the lights. Quickly grab a bottle of water from the refrigerator and back to the couch. Finally sitting down, adjusting my blanket around my body, over my back and over my head to pull over my front and settle my pizza on my lap, opening up the cardboard and finally to find my chosen movie. The Ring.
Some say it's scary and some say it's crap.
It wasn't so bad when I first watched it years ago but it's kind of creepy and gives me the chills every time.
But still, I'm watching it tonight and so clicking on the movie, I dropped the remote to my side and dived into my pizza.
Half way through the movie I finished my pizza, dropping the box onto the floor but reminding myself to pick it up later. Eyes glued to the screen I couldn't take my eyes off it, sipping on my water through a straw and blanket still over my head. The intense scene and the phone ringing in the scene, that creepy voice speaking on the line it sent shivers down my spine. That voice alone freaks me out.
"What are you watching?"
I screamed and threw my bottle of water towards the direction of that surprising voice. Water splashing all over the floor and coffee table along with a light thud and groan in the dark.
The figure stood not too far away from the tv, cupping at his nose and groaning in pain. I gasped and stood up from the couch to pick up the now empty bottle.
"Jungkook I'm so sorry. I didn't think it was you."
Still cupping his nose he glared at me and I paused the movie quickly and went into the kitchen to bin the empty bottle.
"Why do you keep throwing things at me?" Jungkook
"Well maybe you should stop lurking and popping up out of nowhere."
I told him, patting him on the shoulder as I walk by him and back to the couch, repositioning my blanket back over my head and sinking into the couch once again with remote in hand.
"This is my apartment." Jungkook
"And I live here too. Come on Jungkook, same story different day. Get some new material man."
Smiling to myself I un paused the movie once again and started to watch it but when Jungkook's figure didn't move away from the shadows I felt uneasy about it. I knew he was watching me because that's all he ever does when he's quiet and we're in the same room together.
I tried to ignore it but after a few minutes I groaned, expressing my frustration and paused the move again.
"What are you doing? I know I'm beautiful but you don't need to stare."
Jungkook didn't say anything back and just stared at me through the dark, the only source of light to come through the room was the glow from the tv screen. I just stared back at him in silence so he could have a taste of his own medicine and thankfully after a couple seconds, Jungkook broke and decided to sit on the couch beside me but still keeping enough distance that someone else could sit between us.
I just stared at the side of his face for a moment but then decided to ignore him and start up the movie again.
The movie played on and there was a few times I would gasp and curl up in my blankets even more. It was just the way that girl climbs out the tv and that voice on the phone that gets me. It's creepy and scary. I would shit a brick if that happened to me in real life.
When the movie ended I just turned the late evening channel on and for some random programme to watch but I didn't watch it. I picked up my pizza box quietly and threw it in the trash can under the sink. It was big enough to fit but it also means I have to empty it tomorrow before work. The picking up a kitchen towel I then cleaned up the water spilled all over the floor and folded up the towel to leave on the counter to dry off. It's not dirty enough to be washed, the floor is clean and the water was just from a bottle.
But when I was done, I forgot I didn't turn on the lights so I turned them on and came to stand in the kitchen, only to find Jungkook sitting up right on the couch, hands on his thighs and staring at me blankly.
"When did you get home anyway?"
"When you were in the shower." Jungkook
He responded quickly and looked down to his lap to pick at his nails.
"Are you ever going to tell me what you do for work?"
"That is none of your business." Jungkook
So that's a no. I'm not even surprised anymore.
"By the way, why didn't you find that movie scary?"
I asked him, pointing to the tv. Jungkook just looked up at me and then towards the tv and back to myself before he shrugged.
"I just didn't. It's not real and I've seen worse." Jungkook
"You've seen worse movies than that?"
He nods and I find myself walking back into the living room area and sitting back on my previous spot beside him but on my knees facing him.
"Yeah." Jungkook
"Which ones?"
I asked him, propping my elbow up against the back of the couch to support my head as I leaned into my hand watching Jungkook furrow his brows in thought, staring at the tv.
"Halloween is my favourite." Jungkook
Scoffing at him I just rolled my eyes.
"Halloween? That's rubbish. It's just some guy that walks around town with a mask on, killing people because he's a psychopath that can't be killed and he's always after the same women."
Jungkook nods and then turns his head towards me but body still facing forward.
"And you think The Ring is a good movie?" Jungkook
"Well yeah! It's creepy. Have you seen the way that chick crawls out the tv?!"
I laughed at myself because if I didn't then I would of had the shivers again and I've had enough of that for one night. But I watched Jungkook watching me laugh and if I didn't I would of missed the small curve on his lips as if resisting a smile.
"I guess that can be creepy." Jungkook
"See. At least we agree on something."
Again laughing I smacked his shoulder using the back of my hand and stood up in a more lifted spirit than before after watching a scary movie. But as I stood up, Jungkook grabbed my wrist and that small smile on his face was wiped away and replaced with a hard frown.
"Where are you going?" Jungkook
Shocked I would glance back and forth between his face and my wrist before pointing down the hall with my free hand.
"To bed. I have to get up early for work."
His hold on my wrist loosened and he dropped his hand and sat back against the couch nodding but pressing his lips into a thin line and looking away.
"Sorry." Jungkook
"Arent you going out tonight? For the last couple weeks since I moved in here you've been going out every night after work."
I told him and his eyes widen for a spilt second before he scrunched up his nose and opened his mouth but for some reason he seemed unable to say anything.
"Jungkook are you okay?"
He nodded instantly and wiped off that pained expression to a blank one.
"I'm fine. Yeah I'll go out in the next half hour or something. The usual I suppose." Jungkook
I nodded at him, picking up my phone from the coffee table that thankfully wasn't wet from the bottle earlier and picked up my blanket before walking to my bedroom, wishing Jungkook a goodnight on th way but wasn't surprised he didn't respond. I didn't expect one anyway.
