Christmas drinks pt. 2
Dazai trudged through the newly fallen snow. The sound of his boots smothering it filled his ears. It was Christmas, a particularly cold Christmas. The wind was bitter but it had been for a few days. Despite knowing how cold it had been Dazai hadn't dressed properly, only donning his normal attire. The wind seemed to attack his face and unprotected torso, he should've worn a scarf or something. Dazai carefully stepped down the sidewalk making sure not to slip. In his hands were two short glasses of alcohol with a round piece of ice in each. He griped the glasses holding them steady in his hands. He made his way down the quiet streets somewhat enjoying the stillness. He turned off the street he was on and entered through a small gate. He walked forward on the concrete pathway that had been covered with untouched snow. He descended down the few concrete steps and turned. His eyes landed on an old gave near a big tree. He slowly walked towards it. The top of the grave had a small coat of snow and the grave had a fair amount of moss on it. Dazai placed the drinks down in front of him, he took a seat on the snow cover grass, not really caring about the cold. He dragged his hand across the grave stone uncovering the engraved letters from the snow. He smiled and picked up and drink. He held it in his hand for a bit before tapping the base against the other cups rim. He brought it to his lips and took a sip. The liquid was cold and stung his throat and he swallowed. He descended the cup back to the ground.
"Merry Christmas Odasaku"
Dazai's words rang out through the thick silence around him. He spoke as if there was someone beside him as if someone would respond back. Dazai continued to take small sips of his drink before speaking.
"It's been four years, didn't realize time passes so fast"
Dazai took another drink, he winced at the burn in his throat. He placed his nearly empty drink back down. He brought his eyes to the grave, his eyes seemed to dull.
"Hey Odasaku...?" He paused.
"Are you pound of me?"
Dazai downed the rest of his drink and moved the glass to the side. He picked the other up placing a finger on the ice. He tipped the cup over pouring the drink out beside the grave. He moved the glass to the side next to the other. He stood up and walked behind the grave. He he sat back down leaning against the cold stone.
"Thank you Odasaku"
"For stirring me in the right direction"
Dazai leaned his head back and closed his eyes. He felt the cold snowflakes land on his cheeks as the wind picked back up. Dazai reached into his pocket and pulled out a small rectangular piece of paper and a pen. He placed it on his knee for stability and attempted to shield it from the now falling snow. He pressed the pen to the paper, paused as to think of what to say. He started gliding the pen across the surface which made a satisfying sound. He wrote.
Would you bring the two glasses back for me. Thank you Ango.
~Dazai
He stuffed the pen back in his pocket, and stood up. He kneeled down grabbing the glasses one at a time. He places them beside each other and slid the paper in between. He hoped it wouldn't get too wet so Ango could read it.
Dazai knew Ango would visit Oda too, he actually thought he'd be there before him. It had sorta become a Christmas tradition for the two men, visiting Oda. Whether they were together or alone they both made sure they did. Dazai stood up and brushed the snow off his knees. He pressed his hand back in his pockets and smiled once more at the grave.
"Merry Christmas Odasaku!"
He chuckled and turned on his heel. With every step he took the snow seems to get heavier. Dazai smiled to himself remembering how much Oda liked snow. He too now enjoyed it.
I swear I'll write some fluff soon.
