Book I | Chapter 2
Misty walked inside, and gaped at the view in front of her. She was right, it was a Princess's palace. There was a long hall and two staircases from either end of the hall ran up converging towards each other, finally meeting on the first floor of the mansion.
In the main hall, there were about six rooms near the staircases. Each room had glass doors and a long white curtain which could only be drawn from inside of the room was guarding the inside view.
Right in the center of the assembly hall, was a sofa set - two long sofas with three seats, and three single - seat sofas, and all of them surrounding a glass teapoy. The stairs were covered with long red carpets, and so was the floor.
Truly elegant.
Misty waited for long time, her sea green eyes staring the beautiful architecture, but yet, no one showed up. Was there no one in the house?
She waited for another five minutes, until she spotted a lemon blonde boy wearing pair of round glasses who was talking by the railings of the first floor. He was dressed in blue tee shirt and black trousers, and was carrying ironed laundry. Misty's eyes trailed along the stairs as he walked, oblivious to her presence down the hall.
"Am I invisible or something?", Misty thought dramatically, and rolled her eyes, waiting for him to notice her. The boy then, by happenstance, glanced in her direction, and stopped walking noticing an unfamiliar person. He looked at her quizzically first, and then with a small smile adorning his lips, he advanced towards her placing the pile of clothes on one of the tables.
"You're the new girl?", the boy asked, looking at her fixing his glasses.
She slightly nodded into a yes, her nervousness suddenly kicking in. He looked at her with an unreadable expression in his blue eyes, and Misty feared that he already had made a bad impression about her in his mind. Would they get along well? Or would he hate her?
"Follow me", he said, and started walking towards the staircase. Misty tilted her red suitcase and dragged it behind her as she following him. The Blonde walked up to the corner of the house, a door behind the staircase, with a big board was on the top of it which read 'Servant's Quarters'. He opened the door. There was a small hall there, and two more doors inside the room.
"Okay", he started facing towards her, fixing up his round glasses again, "so, to the right is the ladies quarter, and to the left is the gents", he explained, moving his hands in the directions along with the words.
" You'll get a particular uniform placed on your bed inside. Wear that and come. I'll take you to Mrs Ketchum. She'll instruct you your job", the boy continued, pointing towards the lady's quarter.
Misty nodded and got inside the ladies' quarter. There were several beds placed there on the either side of the walls, leaving a three feet passage in the middle to pass by. There was very little distance between each bed, just little more than the size of the cupboards that were placed adjacent to them. Though the room was all decked up, no lady was there inside.
"Maybe all are at work", Misty thought to herself, as she walked through the passage between the beds. She noticed that there were writing boards nailed to each bed, with some names written on them.
" Rose, Petunia, Jess ...", she read, and assumed that they would be the workers to which these beds belong. She noticed a bed close to the window, the board pasted on the bed had no name written on it, and a dress was kept on it.
Assuming that it was her bed, she picked up the dress and unfolded it. It was pink full-sleeves dress, whose length crossed her knees. The uniform was one size large for Misty's slim figure, but without bothering about it, she changed into it quickly. She walked out and saw the lemon blonde standing there looking towards the ground.
"Oh Hi", he said awkwardly looking up as she came, " Hmm.. See, this is awkward, but I forgot to ask you your name"
Misty giggled, forgetting about the insecurities she was feeling just some moments ago, and said "I'm Misty"
"Okay Misty, I'm Clemont", the blonde said flashing Misty a toothy grin, giving in for a handshake. She smiled at him, and clasped his hand, shaking it.
"Okay Listen! Be quiet in front of Mr Ketchum. Mrs Ketchum is sweet but Mr Ketchum is totally the opposite. He'll yell at you if you talk anything rubbish or give some weird answers to the question he has asked", Clemont said, shortly explaining what she should be doing up.
"Hmm.. Okay", Misty said, nervousness again taking over her, which was easily noticeable in her voice.
"Don't get scared. Be calm", Clemont said, breathing in and out, and repeated it again, in order to tell her to calm down.
"After all the reassuring words you have told me? Surely", Misty mocked, slight smirk forming on her face.
"So what should I say.. ", Clemont said sheepishly giggling at his own antics, and then walked out of the quarters.
As they both discussed random things while going up the staircase talking animatedly, Misty accidentally crashed into someone, making her loose her balance.
The redhead closed her eyes tight in anticipation, but before she could hit the stairs and roll down, she felt two strong arms grasp her waist from either side.
Her eyes were still closed, in the fear of falling down, and her lips quivered, she was still shivering.
Misty could feel the two arms around her waist but her eyes refused to open up. "I'm so sorry, Mr Ash ", Misty heard Clemont say and then two other hands held her, the former letting her loose.
Misty's brain finally registered that she was alright, and opened her eyes wide, and stood straight, not looking up. She could only see a blue shirt, and a leather jacket over it.
"I'm extremely sorry ", she whispered, looking at the ground, clasping both her hands in front of her belly and bowing down.
"Pardon her, sir", Clemont spoke again and then pulled Misty by her arm out of the other boy's path, dragging her up the staircase.
"You weirdo! Can you not see and walk", Clemont whispered to her slightly angrily as they walked up the stairway.
"I said I was sorry ", Misty whispered back, defending her self. She wasn't the only one who bumped into him, he was also at fault, he could see ahead while walking and not bump into a random person.
"Just keep quiet, and avoid bumping into anyone else", Clemont said rolling her eyes and dragged her to the left. Soon they were standing in front of the door to Mr Ketchum's room.
But back to the boy who Misty just bumped into - Ash Ketchum, was the one and only heir of the Ketchum Empire. The raven haired stood thinking about the girl who crashed into him. Blueish-green eyes, flaming orange hair, glowing white skin - she was so different than the girls he ever saw.
Ash turned behind to see her, his brown eyes trying to take another view, but he could only view her back, as she patiently waited outside his parent's room. He scratched the back of his head and walked out.
"Mr Ketchum sir?", Clemont spoke as he knocked the door simultaneously flashing a small reassuring smile to Misty.
"Come in", a lady's voice replied, instead. Clemont gave Misty a small nod indicating they had to go inside.
Misty took in a deep breath and closed her eyes for a few seconds. Calm down Misty. Calm down. Opening her eyes with newly mustered confidence, Misty nodded at Clemont indicating that she was ready to enter inside.
