Car Troubles (Ricky)

Y/n x Ricky Sometime in the winter where the reader's watching him fiddle with a car and she realizes she's in love with him or something

Y/n stomped down the aisle, not paying attention to the colorful display of clothing that would usually grab their attention. However, Y/n was far too upset and peeved to care about shopping; and that was saying something. Pinky, Y/n's supposedly upset best friend left her alone at Aquaberry Outlet to go out with Derby. The whole reason why they went out to therapy shop was to get Pinky's mind off that jerk. The cousins had a date earlier that day, but Derby being the self-centered, arrogant bastard that he was ditched Pinky to score a date with Ashley. His attempt hilariously failed, with the mute girl flat out rejected him in front of the whole school and had Eunice chase him around campus in exchange for a bucket of imported chocolate.
Serves him right.
Y/n felt horrible for Pinky and suggested that the two should go out and shop and eat afterward.
"Some friend she is," Y/n aggressively looked through the racks, "going back to the very guy who crushed her heart. Next time I shouldn't even comfort her. Let her suffer," Y/n continued to mutter angrily. The two lasted hardly an hour before Derby showed up and worked his handsomely boyish charm to woo Pinky back. Unfortunately, it worked. So now, Y/n was left alone, without a ride, at Old Bullworth Vale in the dead of winter. Pinky was so dead.
"Excuse me? We'll be closing soon." A worker rudely informed Y/n. In shorter terms, the worker said 'get the hell out, we closed.'
Y/n scowled. "Yeah, whatever."
The worker rolled her eyes, almost tempted to tell them to leave now. With a huff Y/n left the store, putting back the winter jacket she thought of buying. Y/n was too upset that she forgot that she was without a ride, in the dead of winter. The very second she stepped foot outside, Y/n's whole body seized up frozen solid. She trembled violently, wrapping her arms around herself to try to produce some heat to get her to moving along. It didn't help that it had begun to snow hours ago and now she stood in a good 5 inches of snow. It was still snowing, however, it was light. Y/n forced herself to head back home, no use to call anyone for help. Her parents were at a party with the Spencer's, her older brother was with the preps, and obviously, Pinky was somewhere sucking face with her disgusting cousin. Who could she call to pick her up?
"Stupid Derby, stupid Pinky, stupid town, stupid snow-"
"Stupid car!"
A voice growled out in exasperation. Y/n rounded the corner but quickly jumped back hiding behind the wall. Ricky was bent over the hood of an old beat up car. Clearly, he was having trouble with his car and with good reason. A piece of junk was as old as dirt, it was rusty in places Y/n didn't know a car could rust, and it looked worse for wear. If Y/n didn't know better, she could have mistaken Ricky's car for that one rusty car who's bumper falls off every other time and sheds rust like dandruff from the movie Cars.
"Why won't you work!" Ricky kicked a wheel out of anger. He was on his way back to the dorms when his car started making strange noises. He pulled over at the Home-Made Ice Cream parking lot to see what was wrong. One thing leads to another and his car simply stopped turning on. In this weather, he couldn't afford getting stuck in the cold snow. "Piece of shit car, should have known better than to buy you off cousin Mike. Fucker treats the fuzz better than he does his cars."
Y/n smirked as she listened to him complain and struggle with his death mobile. Serves the jerk right. Since Y/n transferred to Bullworth Academy, the greaser has become the biggest pain in the ass. Derby and Johnny didn't fight as much as Y/n and Ricky did. Those two were always at each other's throats that some have suspected that their rivalry ran deeper than what they led on.
'People are seriously demented if they think that I have a thing for that slime-ball. Just because he's cute and strong doesn't mean that I lo-'
What?
Cute and strong what?
Y/n blinked owlishly, gawking at the greaser who tried to continue fixing the lost cause that was his pathetic excuse of a car. Did she just think Ricky as cute and strong? No, of course, she didn't. She couldn't.
Y/n continued to stare at Ricky, taking in every detail. She saw how the slightest of sweat piled on the top of his brow despite it being -0 degree. His eyes narrowed into slits as he glared at the engine. Y/n drunk up every detail and felt her heart flutter at watching him work.
She blinked again, her own eyes narrowed into slits as she glared at the handsome greaser. Again, she subconsciously complimented her arch-enemy. 'What the hell is wrong with me!' Y/n panicked. No way was she crushing on a greaser, much less Ricky. 'But you have to admit,' the little voice spoke in her mind, 'he is pretty hot. He knows how to treat a lady and is overall a good guy.' No arguing with that logic.
Y/n knows all about Ricky's past girlfriend and how he deeply regretted not paying enough attention to her. His feelings for her genuine and it was how he longed to make things right was what made Y/n attracted to him in the first place.
'Great, now I just admitted to myself that I am attracted to that black-haired pumpjack.' Y/n grimaced. Now it all made sense. All those times she thought she was avoiding was excuses to find ways to see him. Every day since their first meeting, the greaser never left her mind. She thought about what she'll say when she saw him, wondered if he'll have a cigarette placed on the back of his ear making him look like a total bad boy. Her thoughts were always about him. It was then when she realized that she loved Ricky.
'No denying it now~' The pesky voice in her head sang. "Oh shut up!" Y/n's eyes widen, slapping both hands over her mouth and quickly hid behind the wall. She managed to see Ricky whip around to see who had yelled out.
'Crap! Crap, crap, crap!' Y/n panicked increased considerably. The only way she could make it home was to pass him and she didn't want him to know she was there. It was bad enough she discovered her new found crush on the greaser, she didn't feel like getting into a yelling match with him in this damn snow.
Snow.
Y/n remembered she sat on a pile of snow thicker than the hair on Edna the lunch lady's moles. She was beyond freezing at this point, she was sure she was about to die from frostbite like Jack Torrance from The Shining.
"Who's there?" Ricky tightly grasped his wrench, ready to swing it if necessary. "I know you're out there, come on out asshole."
"Who you calling an asshole, you jackass!" Y/n whipped around that corner faster than any bike those greasers constantly fix up.
Ricky dropped the wrench, his whole puffed up chest deflated as he blankly glanced at the prep. "Oh, it's you."
"What's with that tone of voice?"
"Nothing," he shrugged, "just thought you were someone worth my attention. I was wrong."
Y/n scoffed, "Please, you couldn't afford me, much less that hideous thing you like to call a car. No matter what you do, you won't be able to fix it."
Ricky raised a brow, a cocky smirk flooded his features. "Have you been watching me?"
Y/n pursed her lips in a thin line, "As if."
"Then how did you know I'm fixing my car."
"Because any idiot could see what you're doing."
Ricky smirked, "Any idiot did. Besides, you've been standing there behind that wall for 20 minutes. What sane person willing stands in the middle of snow stalking someone?"
Y/n was speechless. For once Ricky Pucino had bested her at a witty war, but it was most likely due to the fact that she was too busy fighting the butterflies that rampaged in her gut as well as failing to hide the scarlet tint from growing on her cheeks. Ricky looked positively dashing with the loose strand of hair that hung across his forehead. She felt the heat of his stare all over her body, it was enough to make her forget just how freezing cold she truly was. Before she can stop herself she offered to help him fix his car.
Ricky looked taken back, "You know cars? I doubt that."
"Don't believe me? Fine, stay stuck in the freezing cold for all I care."
The greaser started at Y/n, his whole persona screamed suspicion. "Why do you want to help me? Aren't ya scared in getting ya hands dirty?"
Y/n rolled her eyes, "I'm only offering so that you can take me home. Like hell am I going to walk all the way there, I'll die. And no, believe it or not, my dad taught me the ins and outs of cars. Said something that if I ever got stuck on the side of the road by myself, the least I should know is how to fix cars."
Ricky laughed at that, "I doubt you can do much, but humor me. Let's see what you can do."
Another 10 minutes and Y/n got that car roaring. Ricky was impressed, it shone brightly in his eyes.
"Thanks. Just so you know, this doesn't mean anything."
"Fine, but you still owe me a ride."
Ricky nodded, "I wasn't going to let you walk out here in the cold anyway."
His comment merit a look of surprise on Y/n's face. "What?" Ricky said defensively.
"I didn't think you were capable of being such a gentleman, Oil slick," Y/n teased or at least tried to.
Her teasing didn't sit well with the greaser. "What? You think that just because I'm a 'filthy' greaser that I would let a broad freeze to death out in this cold. Especially when she a prep? I ought to leave you out here to suffer. If you were any other stinking prep I would."
That made Y/n frown, his words stung. "Lighten up, I was only joking." Y/n walked to the passenger side of the car with arms crossed. She pouted her lips, she was simply joking, guess she wasn't good with joking with the enemy. Y/n barely touched the car handle before Ricky's much bigger hand overshadowed hers and opened the door for her, "So was I." He winked and opened the door wider for her to slip in. Y/n froze, but for a completely different reason. She was so close to his face she could practically see his pores. She noted his scent, it is a natural smell. His scent wasn't that of cologne that most of the greasers and even preppies enjoyed to shower in, Ricky's was just of his sweat, a sharp musk smell that Y/n figured was his soap, and a masculine smell she couldn't place her finger on. Either way, he smelled heavenly. Y/n took a sharp intake of breath, taking in the closeness, his warmth helped a little to warm herself up.
Ricky looked down at her with half-lidded eyes, also taking in how close they were to each other. For a brief second, he entertained the thought of how it be if he leaned in and-
"You gonna get in princess or you want me to carry you in?"
Ricky fully expected for Y/n to snap back, but all she did was cast her eyes downward and the flush on her cheeks spread down her neck and the peak of her ears. How odd. Y/n slipped in, her eyes still looking anywhere but Ricky. She took the time to calm her racing heart and wipe her sweaty palms. How can someone who had been outside for an hour and some change in 0-degree weather be hot, sweaty, and steaming? That's easy: someone with a huge crush can.
Silence ensued the pair, both uncomfortable. "Turn here," Y/n mumbled softly that Ricky almost missed it. He stopped in front of an enormous house, not at all surprised by it and waited for Y/n to get out. He wasn't sure for how long his piece of a car would last this time, but he wanted to be in the dorms before it decided to break down again. "Thanks for helping me fix my car."
"Word of advice, get a new one."
Ricky chuckled, "Easy for you to say, all you have to do is bat your lashes and pout your plump lips and have daddy buy you a brand new car. It's not easy to say no to a pretty face like yours."
Y/n blushed, "You think I'm pretty?"
Now it was Ricky's turn to blush, he felt his face heat up so he turned the other way. "I'm not blind, I can see a cute girl when I see one. Shut up!" He yelled the last part when he saw her lips twist into a cocky grin. "You think I'm pretty," she repeated, this time as a statement instead of a question.
"Whatever. Just get out. Don't tell anyone what happened today," he leaned across Y/n's lap to open the door for her, seeing she wasn't moving anytime soon. "Come on," he nudged her.
"What do you mean come on? If you want me to do you a favor you ask me!" Y/n fumed. He was throwing her out like day week old lunch food.
Ricky raised his voice, "Alright I'll ask ya, you don't have to bite my head off!"
"You're a real charmer, you know that!" She screeched. Unbelievable. She couldn't believe that this was the guy her heart decided to set its eyes on.
"Oh, what are you Lady Di? Come on!"
"Don't shove me!"
"I didn't shove you!"
"Yes, you did!"
"No!"
"Yes!"
"No, I didn't you prep!"
"Yes, you did you slim- mmph!"
Y/n was cut off by a pair of lips. Ricky held the back of her neck so that she couldn't pull back; not that she wanted to. She wrapped her arms around the back his neck, bringing them closer. After a few minutes, they both pulled away for air. "You talk too much."
Y/n felt bold, "You're just going to have to get used to it from now on."
Ricky raised a brow, amusement danced in his orbs and the corner of his upper lip curled up at her insinuation. "Is that so?"
"Yes," Y/n replied breathily.
"Fine by me." He mentally shouted in glee. Ever since he first laid eyes on Y/n, he fell completely and crazily in love with her. He tried to muster up enough courage to talk to her, but all that came out were insults. Y/n wasn't the type of girl to keep her mouth shut, so after Ricky's pathetic excuse of flirting Y/n snapped right back. And thus started their personal feud. To Ricky, he loved every minute of it. It was his way to see the love of his life every day without raising suspicion, but now he didn't give a damn; he finally got the girl, and this time he won't screw up.
Once again Ricky smashed his lips against Y/n, the scorching heat that emitted from their bodies fogged up the car.
And that's how Y/n's father found them hours later.
