Part 12 - You

Well, well, well. Some things in the story just change during the writing 😂. Enjoy ^.^
————————————————————

(Tyler POV)
"You can do it," I heard Dimitrij's voice next to me.

I turned my head to my right, looking down at the knife he was offering me. I grabbed it, my eyes ended up on the woman in the chair. She was tied by the chains, and it was a miracle she was still breathing.

I stepped closer to her, her eyelids shook a little, and I was well aware of her conciseness. There wasn't a problem with me doing this, torturing or killing people. It wasn't something I was enjoying, I still felt bit sorry for a few of them, but I didn't want to do that for Dimitrij.

"C'mon, son," Dimitrij spoke up again.

"I'm not your son," I growled silently, clutching the knife even tighter.

"He's weak, look at him," Julian mocked me, and I tried to ignore it.

I'm who I am. There's no chance of me coming back, and maybe this is better. This way, Craig is safe and he can be happy again.

"It was a mistake to take him back. He's the one responsible for death of so many family members. He should be tied down here," Ashley added.

I stabbed immediately, woman's eyes shot wide open, looking directly at me. I spotted something in her eyes, maybe relief and thankfulness, before she closed them again with the last breath.

"Untie her and shove her body into the bag," Dimitrij said into the silence, and I heard footsteps slowly vanishing behind the door.

Son of a bitch.

"Ty?" I heard Zoe's voice.

The short version of my name quickly reminded me Craig's way to say it. I turned around my head bit surprise, because I thought everyone left.

"What?" I whispered, paying attention to the dead woman again.

"I did what you asked for."

"What?" I asked confused, untying the woman.

"The letter, you remember?"

That's right!

Dimitrij forbid me to leave the house, keeping me downstairs all the time to earn trust of everybody else. I missed the sunlight, the fresh air, I wasn't even sure if it was day or night.

Most people were ignoring me, and I didn't wanted to ignore them as well, but I slowly started to understand that without them I wouldn't survive.

Right after I made a deal with Dimitrij, the very first day, I asked him if they could deliver the letter for Craig, the last thing I was asking for.

I knew too well that Dimitrij was going to read the letter, so I had to made look real. And as much as I knew that all I wrote there was one big pile of lies, I couldn't stop crying along with it.

I only hoped Craig would get my hidden message, talk to Delirious, because I knew that the other man would help me out, or at least try. And in case he wouldn't understand that message, it only helped me get Craig back to his normal life. Without me and any problems which came these past days.

"Good," I mumbled, looking around for the bag.

"You really care about that boy of yours, don't you?"

"That's none of your business," I whispered, standing up.

Where in hell is the bag?

I walked towards the bag, laying on the ground, hoping she was going to go away soon.

"Because of what you wrote in the letter. It was heartbreaking," she whispered, handing me the bag.

"Excuse me? You read it?" I asked confused, because I thought only Dimitrij knew about the text inside.

"Dimitrij read it aloud in front of everybody, before he send me with it to your boy."

Son of a bitch.

I grabbed the bag with intention to walk back to the body, when she was holding the bag like her life depended on it. I looked into her eyes, already frowning.

"We're not your enemies, Tyler. You should stop seeing us like that. We're your family, we always have been! But I need to know that I can count on you if the times comes to that. There was a time you betrayed us, and many of your brothers and sister died than day. So I need to know. Can I trust you?"

It wasn't my intention in the first place to hurt so many people, some of them were here on the same level as me, being used by Dimitrij, wishing to go home, escape this hell hole. When Delirious started the fire, he wanted to kill Dimitrij. And until now we had been thinking we succeeded.

I yanked the bag out of her hands, walking towards the body again. I was so angry with the way they were all behaving. If half of the people here hated me, why didn't they kill me in the first place. I didn't want to be here as much as they didn't want me to be here.

"I don't care about your feelings, Zoe. But for the time I'm stuck here, I'll help you as best as I can. Although, I want you to know I feel like prisoner and not like a family member. Show me the reason to trust you, and you have my back," I replied on the way.

"You know... Dimitrij wanted to kill that boy. He said he's your burden, your weight pulling you down. And he's still planning to do that."

What?!

"Show him you're not interested in that boy anymore, show him you're completely with us, and he's going to forget that some Craig ever existed. I will help you," she continued, appearing by my side.

She placed her hand on mine, and I looked at her.

"Let's pretend you and me are a thing now. You're going to get his trust and trust of your bothers and sisters."

"What's your outcome out of this?" I asked, when she softly wrapped her fingers around my hand.

"You."
