Chapter 10

The last 3 hours of school were stressful for Sonia. After calling Professor Magnolia, Sonia decided to stay outside on the campus lawn rather than attend her remaining classes. It was all she could do to keep herself together while petting Yamper, who lay on the grass next to her. It didn't help that Timothy called her while on his way to his sixth period class to tell her what happened to Coovers and Oshawott. Sonia grew frustrated that Guzma had taken things so far, yet she was thankful that Erin volunteered to take Coovers and Oshawott to the Pokemon Center. Since she wasn't attending class for the rest of the day, she and Yamper decided to the Pokemon Center to collect Coovers and Oshawott, then meet Timothy at Motostoke Station after school.

When Sonia and Yamper entered the Pokemon Center, they were shocked to find Coovers and Erin sitting at a booth in the Pokemon Center's cafeteria. Erin was helping Coovers drink a mug of Pecha Berry juice from a straw while he rested on her shoulder, half out of it. Oshawott and Piplup sat opposite their partners with Oshawott fully recovered from the poisoning. As Coovers slowly came to, he looked up at Erin with a dopey grin, thinking he was dreaming of her while resting on her shoulder. Coovers' demeanor would appear weird to any reasonable person, yet Erin didn't mind that he was happy to see her even in his half-conscious state. After processing what was happening before her, Sonia sat in the booth behind them, letting Coovers and Erin be while Coovers hadn't fully recovered yet.

By the time Coovers had fully come to, school had ended for the day. Sonia sighed before getting up to collect Coovers and Oshawott, knowing the former would hate her for stepping in. Coovers and Erin childishly pouted before the latter lifted the other's head off her shoulder and said he had to go home with his friends. Coovers reluctantly agreed and declared that he would be counting the moments until he saw Erin at Pokemon Biology class the next day. Sonia rolled her eyes and dragged Coovers away by the collar with their Pokemon following. Coovers and Erin reached out to each other, with Erin and Piplup still sitting at the booth with dramatic sighs.

Sonia dragged Coovers until they were outside the Pokemon Center. She let go of his collar and waited for him to stop moping before they rode their Rotom Bicycles to Motostoke Station. Despite parting ways, Coovers had a blissful smile as though he had been making out with Erin the entire time he and Oshawott were at the Pokemon Center. Seeing Coovers so happy made Sonia regret bringing him down to Earth by telling him about Sordward, Shielbert, and the Magnolia Paddock. With a blink of an eye, Coovers and Oshawott's joyful demeanors evaporated, and they aologized and tried to comfort Sonia and Yamper, respectively, until they reached the station.

After scanning their student passes on the Rotom Phones, they walked over to the train heading to Wedgehurst, where Timothy and Electchu were waiting. Timothy stood by one of the doors, looking at the wall with a devious smirk. Coovers, Sonia, Oshawott, and Yamper looked at Timothy, confused as they approached him and Electchu, who looked at its partner with unease. When Timothy noticed his friends coming, his smirk grew, and he gave them a wave before they got on the train. Shortly after they took their seats, with Coovers and Sonia sitting next to each other and Timothy sitting opposite them, the train began to depart.

"Timothy, are you feeling alright?" Sonia asked.

"Never better, Sonia. Never better," Timothy answered before looking at Coovers, "So, how was having your new crush come to your aid, buddy?"

Immediately, Coovers' face lit up as though he had forgotten everything Sonia said about Sordward, Shielbert, and the Magnolia Paddock, and he looked up at the ceiling with his hands clasped together.

"Oh, it was a dream I never wanted to end," Coovers answered. "I won't lie to you, Timbo. I would never ask for a reward for coming to your aid or avenging you for any wrongdoing against you. It's always been a pleasure. Still, I look at what Guzma and Ariados did to me and Oshawott as more of a blessing than a punishment because it meant quality time with an angel from the highest heaven."

Timothy chuckled, amused yet happy that Coovers spent quality time with a girl who gave him the time of day. He then turned to Sonia.

"How are you feeling?" Timothy asked.

Sonia furrowed her brow and looked down at the table, resting her arms.

"Not much better," she said. "I called Gran, and she's as upset as I am. If you guys weren't at school with me, I would have headed straight home. I can't ever step foot in that school again."

"Oh, I wouldn't lose hope yet, my dear Sonia," Timothy said. "I spent the rest of school hatching the perfect plan that will solve everything."

Coovers' happy face disappeared, and Sonia lifted her head to give Timothy an unamused look.

"Timothy, please. Not another one of your schemes," Sonia said.

"I'm afraid I'm with Sonia on this one, Timbo," Coovers said. "I'm saying this with love, but I highly doubt being popular will solve anything."

"Ah, not so fast, you guys. This doesn't have jack to do with being popular," Timothy said. "This is about something bigger than the three of us. It's about avenging the persecuted, humiliating the oppressors, and saving countless Pokemon lives."

Coovers and Sonia stared at Timothy as though he was saying random words. Oshawott and Yamper turned to Electchu, who gave them a look that said, "Yeah, he's gotten carried away this time." After a few seconds, Coovers and Sonia looked at each other, and Coovers shrugged before they turned back to Timothy.

"Okay, we'll bite. What is this plan of yours?" Sonia asked.

"We are going to rid Guzma, Matori, and Luke of their abilities to bully and make Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert give your gran back the Magnolia Paddock," Timothy declared.

Coovers hummed skeptically and said, "That sounds nice, but how do you propose we do that?"

"Allow me to elaborate on how to take down our enemies from the least to biggest priority," Timothy said. "First, there's Luke. His truck needs a freezing coil to keep his ice cream cold. We get rid of that, and his ice cream begins to melt. Naturally, he'll be pissed off and will want to get the coil back before his boss finds out."

"But Luke has his Vanillite. If his ice cream melts, he can have Vanillite float by the ice cream to keep the ice cream cold," Sonia said.

"Ah, but having Vanillite there won't be as helpful as you think," Timothy said. "I did a little research on my phone between classes, and ice cream has to be about 0 degrees Fahrenheit to be cold enough to be sold, and a Vanillite can blow winds with temperatures as low as negative 58 degrees, making it too cold to keep the ice cream from melting without turning it into hard ice. Besides, a Vanillite is only a foot and four inches tall. Its height might not be an issue if it is a Vanillish or a Vanilluxe, but as it is, it's too small to keep an entire truck of ice cream cool, and it can't keep blowing wind at the ice cream forever. Sooner or later, Luke will have to accept that his partner has little effect to save his ice cream."

Coovers pursed his lips and took out his Rotom Phone. Sonia looked over Coovers' shoulder as he searched the internet to check Timothy's information. After looking at all the information regarding Vanillite and ice cream, Coovers turned to Sonia and nodded.

"Okay, that adds up. How do you propose we get the chance to get the coil?" Coovers asked.

"Well, Luke ambushed me on my way to the train station to get his revenge, so he'll likely try again tomorrow," Timothy said. "While he's waiting to ambush me on the way to the train station, you're going to distract him so I can sneak by him and take his coil before he realizes I left my house. I thought you could call him on his work phone and aggravate him by pretending to be a customer."

"Sounds fun. I'll brainstorm ways to mess with him tonight," Coovers said, grinning. "What's next?"

"Next, we have Matori," Timothy said. "Matori uses her tablet to keep track of her so-called investments on top of charging people for things like using the restroom in school. She loses that, and she'll be unable to conduct her business."

"Well, then, what are we going to do? Steal Matori's tablet so she can't use other people's money to get back in the stock market?" Coovers asked.

Timothy smirked and crossed his arms. It took Sonia a moment to realize what Timothy was implying, and her eyes widened in disbelief. It took a few more seconds before it hit Coovers, and his face fell.

"Oh, good grief, we are," Coovers said.

"Timothy, you can't be serious," Sonia said. "I'm all for taking Matori down a peg, but stealing her tablet is a little too far."

"I don't see how it is. I mean, it's not like I'm suggesting we use it to digitally take all the money Matori's stolen out of her bank account," Timothy said. "Besides, it's her tablet itself that's important. We will use it as bait to trick her and Luke into fighting each other. But before that, we will delete all files and software on her tablet related to her so-called business. That way, even if she gets her tablet back, it will be a nightmare to get her stuff back in order if that can happen at all."

"And how do you expect Luke and Matori to fight each other?" Sonia asked.

"We're going to trick them into thinking they stole what the other wants," Timothy said. "They'll get secret messages to meet somewhere to get their items back. Since it'll be just them, they'll think the other is the culprit. Why they would steal from each other is irrelevant because they're desperate to get what they want. This will lead to a fight in which they will angrily destroy what the other wants, leaving their operations all but ruined."

"I don't know, Timothy. Matori doesn't strike me as the type of person who can be provoked that easily," Sonia said.

"Maybe, but Luke is, and I doubt Matori knows how to handle someone with the temper of a Gyrados," Timothy said.

"That's true. Luke is nothing if not unreasonable," Sonia said with a chuckle. "Okay, so Luke and Matori take down each other. What do you plan to do about Guzma?"

"Ah, excellent cue, 'cause he's next on the list," Timothy said. "We're going to scare him out of his will to bully with his most profound phobia; McGoogles and his merry band.

Coovers, Sonia, Electchu, Oshawott, and Yamper stared at Timothy, unsure if they heard him correctly.

"McGoogles? Really? You plan to scare the biggest bully in school with the mascot of the old pizza parlor?" Coovers asked. "I know he humiliated you in front of the school because of what happened on your birthday, Timbo, but that doesn't mean he is still scared of a giant Frogadier animatronic."

"Actually, he still is tormented by that," Timothy said. "When he explained why I was his first victim of the year, he looked like he saw ghosts everywhere. Now, I'm no psychologist, but I'm willing to bet that phobia is so strong that covering me and Electchu with mud, birdseed, and trash isn't going to get rid of it. And if we play our cards right, we can show that he's still terrified in front of students, destroying his reputation. If Guzma even thinks about giving someone a swirly or having Ariados web them, they just need to sing the first few notes of the McGoogles' theme song, and Guzma will feel like a frightened little 7-year-old all over again."

"You plan to scare the daylights out of Guzma just by playing the song?" Coovers asked.

"Of course not. That's only part of the plan," Timothy said. "My dad still has costumes of McGoogles and his merry band from when he was working at McGoogles the Frogadier's Pizza Parlor. When Guzma is all alone, we're going to come in dressed as the characters and scare him until he's so terrified that he's lying on the floor sucking his thumb."

Coovers and Sonia looked at each other again hesitantly, and Sonia said, "Timothy, I want to make Guzma pay as much as you do, but that's still a big assumption."

"Yeah, Timbo, I don't like that you're basing this solely on how he acted when he explained why he was punishing you," Coovers said. "I'd like proof that Guzma is still haunted by McGoogles the Frogadier's Pizza Parlor animatronics, so I know we're not going to make fools of ourselves carrying out your plan."

"Fair enough. I'll see to it you guys get all the proof you need," Timothy said.

"That sounds all well and good, but if that's what you plan to do with Luke, Matori, and Guzma, then what do you plan to do to save the paddock?" Sonia asked.

Timothy looked at Sonia with a mischievous grin and said, "What I have in mind is the creme de la creme of my master plan. We carry this out, and this time Friday, Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert will give your gran the Magnolia Paddock back humiliated."

"How is it possible to make two men who have spent goodness knows how much money to build a Pokemon Baccer stadium for their ego give the land back?" Sonia asked.

"It's simple. They made multiple mistakes that can be used against them," Timothy said. "First, they made it clear that they want Superintendent Rose's approval for how they run the school, including their plan for a Pokemon Baccer program. Second, when they summoned me to their office yesterday, I saw them using tons of hairspray to manage their ridiculous hairdos, showing that they love them as they love themselves. Thirdly, I know where they keep their hairspray."

"Are you suggesting we steal their hairspray to make their hairdos so bad that it lowers Superintendent Rose's view of them?" Sonia asked.

"Ha! If Superintendent Rose gives a flying Spoink about their hair, I'll eat my shirt," Timothy said. "No, we want Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert to use their hairspray. We're just gonna adjust them so they are...more appealing."

"What could possibly make those hairdos appealing?" Sonia asked.

"Pokemon Pheromones, of course," Timothy said.

"Wait, what?" Sonia asked.

"You heard me," Timothy said. "We take a few bottles of Pokemon Pheromones from Mr. Jacq's classroom, and tomorrow night, we're gonna sneak into Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert's office and put pheromones into their jumbo-sized hairspray."

"Timbo, just one drop attracted all the Pokemon in the classroom. Spraying pheromones into so much hair could attract every Pokemon in the school," Coovers said.

"Exactly. Scores of Pokemon will chase Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert while teachers and students try to control them," Timothy said. "And where will that leave Superintendent Rose? Witnessing chaos in one of the biggest schools in the Galar region led by two men who call themselves well-respected gentlemen. Not only will it ruin Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert's image, but with even the Pokemon on the Pokemon Baccer team in on the chaos, Superintendent Rose will deem Motostoke High as a place completely lacking in discipline and so is unfit to have a new sports club with a new stadium for it. With their project shut down, the Magnolia Paddock will be useless to Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert, and they'd be better off just giving it back to Professor Magnolia."

"But, you're talking about stealing from a teacher and breaking into the principal and vice principal's office," Coovers said worriedly. "For that matter, if any of our targets find out that we're behind what happens to them, things could get much worse."

"That's the beauty of this plan. There's no way our enemies can connect what happens to them to us," Timothy said. "Luke and Matori will think the other stole their freezing cord and tablet, respectively. Guzma will be too traumatized to think about it when McGoogles and his band appear before him. Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert will think the whole school has gone crazy because everybody's Pokemon will have done something to ruin Superintendent Rose's view of them. Not to mention, they'll have no way of knowing anyone did anything to their hairspray because pheromones are colorless and odorless. Luke wouldn't be able to figure it out even if he tried because he lacks the maturity and wit of a man twice our age. Even if Matori or Guzma were to figure out someone was behind their misfortunes, they wouldn't be able to do anything about it because their reputations are shot, and, let's face it, multiple people would like to see them get their comeuppance. It's as solid as it gets."

Coovers and Sonia stared at Timothy, with Coovers furrowing his brow and Sonia biting her lip. They turned to each other, silently admitting that what Timothy said made sense. Electchu grew unsettled with how much thought its partner put into his idea while Oshawott and Yamper waited for Coovers and Sonia to say something. Sonia turned back to Timothy, and she took his hand with a worried look.

"Look, Timothy, your plan sounds plausible to a degree, and it would be great if it works. What Guzma and Matori do in school is horrible, Luke is relentless, and no one wants Gran to get the paddock back more than I do. Heck, Gran and I were talking about me transferring to another school because I can't bear to go to a school led by the men who took away so much of our home," Sonia said. "But if this plan fails, not only will we get in a lot of trouble, but we'll have spent all the time we have left with you and Electchu for nothing. I wish we could make the most of the time just hanging out. I want to throw a going away party on Thursday for you and Electchu. I'll even make your favorite cake. Don't you want that more than trying to get revenge?"

Timothy smiled and gave Sonia's hand a squeeze.

"A going away party would be a wonderful way for Electchu and me to spend the rest of our time with our friends, Sonia. Not to mention, you make the best cakes in the world," Timothy said, making Sonia's cheeks turn pink. "That said, I can't bring myself to enjoy a going away party without earning it first. I don't want to do this just for personal revenge. Pokemon are in danger, people are being bullied, not even my best friends are safe, and the universe expects me to leave my home when all of this is happening. Well, enough is enough. If my dad doesn't stand up to his bully, then I will spend my last days in Galar standing up to my bullies. So, are you with me?"

The table was silent. Electchu, Oshawott, and Yamper stood beside the table, waiting for Coovers and Sonia to say something. Coovers looked away from Timothy while scratching the back of his head, then shrugged before looking at Timothy with a grin.

"Well, we promised we'd face high school together. If you really believe this is the right thing to do, then Oshawott and I are with you," Coovers said.

"Oshawott," Oshawott said.

Timothy smiled and nodded in appreciation. All eyes turned to Sonia, making her uncomfortable. She couldn't deny that she liked how much Timothy's heart was in helping others, yet it felt as though he either forgot or ignored her warning to be careful of how far he took things. Finally, she sighed as her desire to save the Magnolia Paddock and vengeance against the bullies overcame her concern.

"Okay, if Coovers and Oshawott are in, then so are Yamper and me," Sonia said before pointing at Timothy with a warning glare. "But whether we succeed or fail, I want you at my house this Thursday night with an empty stomach. I'm gonna bake the best Oran Berry-filled cake I've ever made, and you're gonna eat it. All of it."

"I'll be looking forward to it," Timothy said.

Sonia smiled, satisfied with Timothy's response. Then she stretched her hand to the center of the table and gave Timothy and Coovers a look to join in. Timothy and Coovers put their hands on top of Sonia's, and they nodded to each other.

"Together," Timothy, Coovers, and Sonia said simultaneously.

"Oshawott!" Oshawott said.

"Arf, arf," Yamper barked.

"Pi...kachu," Electchu said, still hesitant.
