Bullies.

Jungkook didn't know.

He had absolutely no idea.

He didn't know that his six hyungs of BTS were involved with the mafia. All he knew was that he was in a band with his six hyungs who loved him and protected him from the world. They lived together and as far as he knew, they went to work together and came home together. They talked to the same people within the industry, and Jungkook had his school friends, that was it.

He never questioned why his hyungs had forced him to have a somewhat early bedtime. He felt like 8:30 was too early for a 16 year old, but they always told him he needed the extra sleep because of all the work he did and they wanted him energized for school.

He didn't question why sometimes one or a few of his hyungs would go out together late at night. He figured they were off doing more work and meeting up with their family or old friends. That was it.

What he did question, however, was why this boy at school named Jusoo started to bully him. He hadn't done anything wrong and never bothered the boy. They were in the same grade and Jusoo used to completely ignore him and leave him alone.

But once word of mouth had gotten out that Jungkook was in a band and some of their work started coming out on TV, Jusoo started to bother him. He'd shove him into the wall during passing time or smack him in the head in class when he'd walk by.

Jungkook gained a lot of friends after the band had debuted, but it was hard for him to trust many of them. He wasn't sure who was just trying to be his friend as part of some kind of social status thing or popularity scheme. He really only ever confided in the people he was friends with before anyone knew he was even in a band.

Jungkook hadn't told his hyungs what was going on at school. He was a bit embarrassed about it and didn't want to worry them. He knew how insanely protective they were and rather them not get involved and make a commotion at his school about it. Sometimes he'd go home in a really bad mood and they'd try to get him to tell them what was wrong but he'd simply say he had a hard test or make up some lie about why he was feeling down.

A few weeks had gone by and it seemed like the more popular Jungkook got, the worse Jusoo got. He started throwing verbal threats at Jungkook and calling him a sissy for "Being in a gay little boy band."

Jungkook brought it up to his teachers but they didn't do anything to help him. They'd talked to Jusoo a few times and all the boy had to do was pout and say he was sorry, and it seemed like all was forgiven.

The verbal threats started to get more intense. Jusoo used to just threaten to hit Jungkook, which he was already doing anyway, but now they were turning life-threateningly bad and it was making Jungkook nervous. He wondered if Jusoo would ever really try to hurt him badly, or kill him. No way, right?

The maknae was sick of the anxiety he started to face going to school every day. One day Jusoo tried picking a fight with him and Jungkook had simply had enough. Jusoo pushed Jungkook up against the lockers and started choking him as others gathered around.

"Get the hell off of me!" Jungkook cried while trying to pry Jusoo's fingers off from around his throat.

"Or what? You going to go cry to your six little boyfriends?" Jusoo spat. Some kids laughed while others stared nervously.

"Screw off, Jusoo!" Jungkook cried as he started kicking him. Jusoo tackled Jungkook to the floor and they had started to get into a physical fight.

"Your stupid boyfriends aren't here to protect you, you're really just good for nothing on your own!" Jusoo spat. Jungkook kept fighting back and spitting some profanities at Jusoo. He felt terrible thinking how angry his hyungs would probably be when they found out about this, but he didn't know what else to do. Jusoo stood up and punched Jungkook so hard in the face he saw stars. Finally a teacher ran out and broke the fight up, dragging both of them into the principals office.

Jungkook's hyungs were called, as well as Jusoo's parents. When they got there, Taehyung grabbed Jungkook's shirt and hoisted him to his feet. "We're done here. Let's go."

The hyungs gave Jusoo a disapproving look as they dragged their maknae out to the car. The two boys weren't allowed back until next week, so they'd be missing the next three days of school. When they got in the car, Jungkook completely broke down before his hyungs could say anything.

"I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry hyungs! I didn't mean to get in a fight but he was just being so mean and I couldn't stand it anymore, I didn't know what else to do!" Jungkook began to cry as he kept defending himself, "He was saying meant things about you guys and I just got so angry! I'm really really so-"

"Jungkook!" Namjoon cut him off, "Why didn't you tell us someone at school was bothering you? Hurting you?"

Jungkook hesitated as he wiped his tears. "I was afraid to."

"Why?" Jimin asked while rubbing Jungkook's back. "You know we could have helped you."

"I guess that's what I was scared of. I didn't want anyone to worry about me. You all have enough to worry about. I'm really sorry hyungies. For not telling you. And for getting in a fight. Seriously I'm so sorry!"

"We're not mad at you," Jimin told the youngest.

Jungkook was confused. "What? You're not? Why? I got suspended for the rest of the week."

"Well, we're a little mad about that part because school is important, but we're not mad that you defended yourself. Actually, we can't believe it," Jimin said.

Hobi patted Jungkook on the shoulder and stared at the maknae's newly bruised black eye. "Aish, does that hurt?"

Jungkook nodded. It hurt a lot but he didn't want Jusoo to have the satisfaction of knowing that.

"Hyungies really aren't mad? I'm not in trouble or grounded?" Jungkook asked hopefully.

"Not this time. We know it was self defense. The principal said a lot of the kids claimed he was hurting you first," Jin replied, "But if it happens again, we won't be so understanding."

"Okay, I understand," Jungkook pouted and stared at his hands.

"So has he been bothering you for a long time? Is he the reason you come home so upset sometimes?" Hobi asked. Jungkook nodded. The secret was out.

"Well, he won't be bothering you anymore," Taehyung said confidently.

"How do you know? He'll just get right back to it on Monday," Jungkook said sadly.

"Nah, I think this will teach him his lesson," Taehyung continued, "You really shouldn't worry about him anymore." Taehyung gave a sly smile to some of the other members.

"What do I do if he keeps bothering me?" Jungkook asked.

"He won't," Namjoon replied.

"You don't know that," Jungkook said to his leader.

"Sure we do. He's a wimp. After getting in trouble, he'll leave you alone," Namjoon told Jungkook.

The hyungs planned to take care of the situation on their own. They'd make sure Jusoo never hurt their maknae ever again.

Without Jungkook knowing, the members got Jusoo's full name and found out where he lived. They'd scoped out his house and started following him around. One night while Jungkook was already in bed and fast asleep, the hyungs snuck out of the dorm and headed towards Jusoo's house. They had a lot of connections through their mafia affiliation and found out a lot about the family, such as when Jusoo would be home alone. The members kept their identities hidden by dressing up. When Jusoo's parents had gone out for the night, the members broke into Jusoo's house. They were quick to put him in his place.

The members taunted Jusoo as they tied his wrist to his kitchen table leg.

"What the hell, get the hell out of my house!" Jusoo screamed.

The members threatened Jusoo and told him if he ever hurts Jungkook again, he'd regret it. Jimin pulled out a gun. It was a fake gun, he wasn't going to pull a real one on a kid, but it looked real enough to scare the hell out of Jusoo.

"Who the hell even are you?!" Jusoo screamed.

"We will just say that Jungkook knows a lot of people willing to help him out, so I'd back off if I were you," Namjoon spat.

"Did he send you here?!" Jusoo cried as he tried to untie himself from his kitchen table.

"Maybe he did, and maybe he didn't," Yoongi laughed. The members didn't want to hurt the boy, since he was just a kid their own maknae's age, but they sure did succeed in scaring him to no end which was their ultimate goal.

"Okay okay okay! I'll leave him alone! I'm sorry! I don't even hate him!" Jusoo cried.

"Then why do you hurt him?" Hobi asked confused. He wanted to hurry up and end this because it was getting hard to breathe behind the mask he was wearing.

"I guess I'm just...jealous..." Jusoo admitted, "He's so popular and has so many friends. So many people love him. And he's so handsome, it's not fair that he has it all."

The members felt bad knowing Jusoo had been bullying Jungkook because he was dealing with his own insecurities, "But that's no reason to hurt him," Jin told Jusoo. Jusoo agreed that everything he'd done wasn't fair to Jungkook. He promised to stop. That was all the members really needed to hear. They'd know on Monday if Jusoo stuck to his words or not.

Apparently, Jusoo had.

The first day the two were back at school, Jusoo seemed to completely ignore Jungkook at first. While walking between classes, the impossible happened.

Jusoo walked up to Jungkook and the maknae got nervous. Please not again. Hyungs already said if I get in another fight they won't be forgiving this time.

"Um..Jungkook?" Jusoo said. He seemed tense. Jungkook stared at him.

"I'm um...I'm sorry," Jusoo said nervously. Jungkook felt like he had to be in some kind of alternate reality. Jusoo, apologizing? What the hell?!

"What?" Jungkook asked dumbfounded.

"I said I'm sorry," Jusoo said again. The maknae couldn't believe it. Is this some kind of trick?

"Oh...um...really? Thanks, I think?" Jungkook said confused.

"You're welcome. Um...well, see you around, I guess." Jusoo ran off. Even kids around them looked like they'd seen a ghost after that interaction. Jungkook wasn't complaining.

Jusoo hadn't bothered Jungkook the rest of the day. Even in class together the two didn't acknowledge each other. The maknae went home in a great mood.

When he got home, he ran to his hyungs smiling. "Guess what hyungs!!"

"What is it? And how was school? Was everything alright? Did that boy bother you?" Hobi asked.

"No! Not even once! And you won't believe what else!" Jungkook said. The hyungs could see how happy he was and they were already happy for him.

"He even apologized!" Jungkook smiled. The members hugged Jungkook and said they were so thrilled things had gotten better.

"How did you know he'd stop bothering me?" Jungkook asked.

"We um...hyungs intuition?" Jimin said nervously. The hyungs looked around at each other nervously. They still wanted to protect Jungkook from the other life they were living so didn't want to give anything away about what connections they have and what they'd done to help their maknae.

"His parents must have been really mad," Jungkook said innocently. The hyungs agreed that that was clearly what must have happened.

"I'm glad you guys were right," Jungkook said as he started to hug Namjoon, "He really is done bothering me."

The hyungs hearts burst with love for their maknae and they were grateful that what they had done had worked. All seemed well again.

Jungkook was no longer being bullied.

And he'd never truly understood why.
