Chapter:14

*Ashton's POV*

Clapping and cheering filled my ears as I stood in front of the large group of people. Reed had just introduced me as the new beta. Some people looked genuinely happy but I could tell others were faking happiness. I know that it's not going to be easy being as good a beta as Winston was and I know that it's going to take a lot to get some of the pack members to accept me as beta.

People really loved Winston, he was everything you needed in a beta and that's why the pack was so heartbroken about it, his funeral was only yesterday but it felt like longer. As I looked out into the crowd I noticed that a few of the lower ranked men in the pack were looking at me with ugly sneer's on there faces. One man in particular noticed my eyes on him and I guess he decided to speak up.

"So you picked a little girl to lead us? You picked a girl to help make decisions for the pack. You picked a girl to be your right hand man,key word 'man'." The very rude man asked. I narrowed my eyes at him and spoke up before Reed even got the chance.

"Excuse me? I think I might of heard you wrong, you think that I can't be a good beta because I'm a woman? That is very sexist. I can lead along alpha Reed just as well as any man could." I stated with a hint of anger to my voice. The man frowned and rolled his eyes.

"Ya right." He muttered under his breath but I heard him loud and clearly. Reed saw the look of anger on my face and spoke up before I could do anything I would regret.

"I assure you that Ashton will make a great beta. Now thank you all for gathering, the pack meeting is over." Reed spoke calmly but I could tell he was angry with the man. The pack members nodded there heads and mumbled in acknowledgment. They started to file out of the large room.

"Ashton I'm sorry that man was so rude. We all know you will be a great beta." Reed assured me. I smiled at him before replying.

"It's fine Reed, he didn't get to me." Reed opened his mouth to say something but before he could Justin and Jace came running towards us.

"Can you believe the nerve of that guy?" Justin asked.

"Ya. He's a real asshole." Jace added. I laughed at there pissed off expressions. It's funny because its bothering them way more then it bothered me.

"It's fine guys, I don't really care what he thinks." I said with a laugh.

"Aww she's in denial." Jace wailed as he pulled me into his arms, practically hugging the life out of me.

"I. Cant. Breath." I spoke dramatically. Jace laughed but released me from his death hug.

"It really didn't bother you?" Justin asked as he tilted his head to the side. I shook my head and answered,

"We'll ya it did. It pissed me off beyond belief but I decided it wasn't worth getting worked up over so I let it go." Reed smiled proudly at me and I furrowed my brows.

"What?" I asked. He laughed at my confused expression.

"That's a thing that every good leader can do, let things go." He said. I nodded my head and grinned at him. It's true though, every good leader needs to be able to do that.

"Oh ya!" Justin said suddenly. I turned my head and gave him a questioning look.

"What?" I asked. He grinned at me and pulled a small piece of paper out of his pocket.

"Your mate asked me to give this to you." He said as he handed me the paper. I looked down at it and frowned, what is it? I unfolded the paper and read the writing that was on it.

'Meet me in the garden in an hour, oh and wear something nice. I think it's about time we had our first date.

- Saxon.'

It read. A small smile found its way to my face as I read it. I looked back up to the boys and saw that they were all looking at me and smiling like they knew something I didn't. I went to ask them what they weren't telling me but all three of them ran away from me.

"Hey. Come back." I yelled at there retreating backs. Of course they didn't listen to me. Sighing I headed towards the stairs, I have a date in an hour so I might as well get ready. I could feel the little butterfly's in my stomach as I thought about what Saxon had planned.

I walked into my bathroom and striped out of the pair of jeans and the t-shirt I had been wearing. I turned the water on and stepped in. The hot water pelted down on my skin and soothed my tense muscles. I wanted to take a long shower but I knew that I only had a little bit of time to get ready so I quickly was led everything and was out.

I wrapped my pink bathrobe around my body and got to work on drying my hair. I took a towel to it then blow dried it the rest of the way. Next I took out my wand and put my hair into soft curls that flowed down my back. I applied only a little bit of, only enough to make my eyes pop, then I mode to my closet.

I put on my bra and panties then looked around my closet, what should I wear? The note said to look nice but I don't want to look to dressy but I don't want to look lazy. After five minutes of looking threw my clothes I finally settled for a pair of blue denim shorts that reached a bit above mid thigh and a white button up shirt with blue swirls on it, the sleeves were thin straps.

I put on a pair of blue flats and added my white bow earrings along with my blue heart necklace. I looked at myself in the mirror for a moment before looking over at the clock, I need to be out there in five minutes. I grabbed my phone, shoved it into my pocket then I was out the door.

On my way down the stairs I saw Reed, Justin and Jace all staring at me with goofy smiles on there faces. I raised my eye brows at them but remained silent.

"You look beautiful sis." Jace said as I got to the bottom of the stairs.

"Ya absolutely gorgeous." Justin threw in.

"Saxon is a lucky guy." Reed added to the complements. I eyed the boys suspiciously before replying.

"Um thanks guys. You make it sound like I'm going off to get married instead of going on a date." I said. The boys grinned at each other.

"We're just happy for you Ash. Now you better get going, wouldn't want to be late for your date." Justin said as he ushered me towards the door. I rolled my eyes at them but walked towards the back door. In the back yard we have a large, beautiful garden that my mom keeps, it's probably the only good the she ever does.

As I opened the back door I felt my heart flutter in anticipation, I can't wait to see what Saxon has planned. I walked out onto the back porch and saw a small card sitting on the table. I picked it up and it read,

'Hey beautiful, follow the directions on the notecards if you want to find me.'

I rolled my eyes but smiled, of course Saxon would do something this cliché for our first date. But I'm not complaining, I've always secretly wanted someone to do this with me. I walked down the steps and followed the brick path into the large garden. There were flowers and tall trees everywhere.

I had only walked about ten steps into the garden when I came across the next note, it was taped to a tree.

'Go left sweetheart.'

It said. Under neath the words it had an arrow pointing left. I turned left and continued down the trail. I have to admit I'm kinda glad the notecards are leading me towards Saxon because if they weren't I would probably get lost, this garden is really big.

I let my fingers slide over the different flowers and plants as I walked down the trail. I was staring at a patch of beautiful white roses, my favorite kind of flower, up ahead when I noticed there was a notecard placed on one of the flowers.

'I know how much you love white roses so I knew that you would be able to find this note card. If you keep going straight we should see each other soon.'

I slightly laughed at this one, how in the world did Saxon know about my obsession with white roses? I turned back towards the path and headed straight. I looked up at the sky and noticed that there wasn't a single cloud in the sky, a perfect day for a date.

The next notecard was located on the branch of a nearby tree.

'Almost there. Turn right and you should see me.'

My heart started beating quicker and I took a deep breath. I turned right and gasped at the sight I saw.

There was a small, round, white table that had a single white rose placed in the center, the table was next to a beautiful fountain that had crystal clear water flowing out of it. Next to the small table stood Saxon. He looked absolutely gorgeous.

He was wearing dark black jeans with a tight fitting white shirt that showed of his defined chest. His black hair was in its usual 'just rolled out of bed' way. A bright smile formed on his face once he saw me and I felt my heart skip a beat, apparently he heard it to because his smile grew even wider.

"You look beautiful Ashton." Saxon said as he made his way over to me. He stretched his hand out for me to take and I did. After I placed my small hand in his very large one he lead me over to the white table.

"We're going to eat lunch here then I have a special place to show you." He said as he pulled my chair out for me. I sat down and then answered.

"This is really nice Saxon, I love it." I said as he took a seat across from me. He smiled at me and took my hand again.

"Ya think? Reed and the twins helped me out because I'm not very good at dates, actually I've never been on a date before." He admitted. I cocked my was to the side and and gave him a small smile.

"We'll it's perfect. To be honest a movie and dinner would've been fine, not nearly as fun but I still would have loved it as long as I was with you." I said. I realized how cheesy my words were but I couldn't bring myself to care.

Saxons smile grew larger and then a small smirk grew on his lips.

"Do you know how extremely cheesy what you just said sounded?" He asked with a smirk. I fake glared at him for a moment before smiling.

"Ya but it doesn't bother me because its the truth." I said back. Saxon squeezed my hand that was still placed in his. He pulled out a pick nick basket that I hadn't noticed and placed it on the table. He opened it up and started to pull stuff out.

I stared at all the food that sat on the table and blushed when I heard my stomach roar. Saxon let out a chuckle before he brought his hand up to my flaming cheek.

"Don't blush baby, theres nothing to be embarrassed about. Now lets get some food into that roaring stomach of yours." He joked. I nodded my head and took the paper plate that Saxon handed to me. I went threw the food and ended up with a sandwich, grapes, chips, pretzels and a variety of other foods on my plate.

Saxon handed me a sprite that he had pulled put of the basket and I eagerly took it, sprite is my favorite drink. I opened my drink and took a big swig of it, I scrunched my face up as I felt the stinging sensation that was in my throat as the soda went down.

I heard Saxons laughing at me from across the table so I did the only reasonable thing I could think of, I stuck my tongue out at him. This resulted in Saxon laughing at me even more. That's how our lunch continued on, us laughing and joking with each other and making small talk.

"Come on, I have somewhere to show you." Saxon said as he took my hand. We had already finished lunch and now he wanted to show me something. I let him take my hand and lead me away from the fountain. Saxon led me threw the garden until we reached the edge of the woods. I was playing with the pedals on the white rose that I had in the hand so I bumped into Saxons back when he stopped.

"Sorry." I said as I looked up at him.

"It's ok, I just wanted to tell you were heading into the woods now so watch were you walk." I nodded my head as he lead me into the woods. We walked for about fifteen minutes before Saxon stopped us. I stared at the sight in front of me and let me tell you something, it was beautiful.

We had stopped in front of a large pond that was surrounded by trees fencing it in. The water in the lake was as blue as the sky and I could tell there were little fish swimming around in it. There was a small water fall like thing at the left end of the pond and I'm guessing that's how the water gets in.

There were small clumps of water Lilly's in the water and there were in full bloom. There was nothing to be heard besides the sound of the water going into the lake.

"I found this place after you left, it's were I come when I want to think." Saxon said breaking me out of my trance. I turned towards him and looked up into his eyes, I saw pain in them along with guilty ness.

"What's wrong?" I asked him worriedly, placing my hand on his cheek. He nuzzled his cheek into my hand and sighed happily.

"Nothing now that your hear." He whispered quietly. I smiled and rested my head on his chest. We stood like that for the next five minutes, not saying anything, simply enjoying being in each others arms.
