*Ashton's POV*

I was awoken to loud screaming and a pounding on the door. It took me a moment to register what was happening because Lilly and I had stayed up really late last night. I looked over and saw that Lilly was still sleeping.

The pounding on the door hadn't stopped so I got up and ran to the door. I opened it and Saxon was standing there with a hard look on his face.

"Saxon what's wrong?" I asked nervously. His eyes softened when he heard how nervous I was. The screaming coming from outside hadn't stopped.

"We're being attacked by rogues. I need you and Lilly to stay in here, lock all of the doors and don't open them until I tell you. Do you understand." He asked quickly. I started to protest but he cut me off.

"Please don't fight with me about this Ashton. I wont be able to concentrate if your out there, ill be to worried about you." He said with desperation in his voice.

"Fine, I'll stay." I mumbled. He gave me a quick kiss and a hug.

"Thank you. Stay safe." He ordered before he walked off. I closed the for and locked it. Turning around I saw that Lilly had sat up in bed and had a very worried look on her face.

"Lilly calm down. You know stress isn't good for the baby." I said as I rushed over to her.

"What if Josh gets hurt?" She asked. I shook my head before replying.

"Lilly he'll be fine. Josh is a strong person now please stop worrying." I said. She nodded her head and laid back. I could hear screaming coming from outside and feral growling and yelping. It was killing me being in here and not out there fighting with my back, I mean he'll I'm the bet female fighter we have.

"I'm sorry Lilly I can't stay in here, I have to go help. Stay in here and don't come out." I ordered her. I knew that Saxon was going to be pissed when he finds out that I didn't listen to him but I really didn't care right now.

Lilly tried to protest but I gave her a hard look that had her shutting up.

"I'll be back." I said as I walked out the door. I ran down the stairs and out the door. The scene in front of me was gruesome. There were dead body's and blood everywhere. The only good thing about the it was that it looked like our packs had the upper hand.

I took a deep breath and transformed into my white wolf. I ran for the first rogue I saw, jumping on it and tearing a large chunk from its neck, the easiest way to kill a were wolf. A rogue came at me from behind but I skill fully dodged it and turned to face it.

He made another jump for me but I side stepped and jumped onto its back. It tried to shake me off but I had my claws sunk into him deep. I bit down on his shoulder blade and kicked his hind legs out from under him. He fell to the ground, leaving his neck unprotected. I lunged and took out his throat.

I looked to my left and saw that Saxon was surrounded by four wolfs, they were attacking him from all sides. I ran straight at them and head butted the one closest to me. The wolf went flying to the left with a loud whimper. Saxons head whipped towards me and he growled loudly.

'What are you doing out here? I told you to stay inside!" He spoke in my head. He's not a part of my pack but I can talk to him because he's my mate.

'I had to come help.' I said as I dodged a wolf. The wolf turned back around and came at me, right before it made any contact I gripped its neck with my jaw and snapped his neck.

'Go back inside!' He tried to order me.

'No!' I growled back. He was about to reply when to wolfs jumped on him. One of the wolfs took out a large chunk of skin from Saxons shoulder. I growled loudly at the wolf and lunged towards it. I quickly killed it and turned around to see Saxon had taken care of the other one.

'Fine you can help, but you have to stay close to my side.' He said. I yipped and licked his face. The cute moment was short lived though because four wolfs came barreling towards us. This is going to be a long fight.

Two hours later and we had chased the rogues out of our territory. It had been a close fight but in the end the rogues had fled. I was standing outside the pack house, were it had happened. There were dead body's everywhere, most rogues but we had lost several pack members.

I walked out of the woods with Saxon bye my side. We were walking back towards the pack house when I happened to look down towards the ground. What I saw made my heart stop and all the color drain from my face, there was a heartbreaking scream heard from the house but I knew who it was. It was Alice, Winston's mate, she was screaming because she had lost her mate.

I looked down at Winston's pale, stiff body. He had a large wound coming from his neck, surely his cause of death, and he was covered in blood. His eyes were closed and his lips slightly parted. He looked so peace full, if you were only looking at his face you would probably think he was sleeping.

I heard another ear shattering scream come from the house and I looked up to see Alice run from the house. There were tears streaming down her face and she was holding her chest, like she was in pain. She saw me and came running towards me. I wanted to yell at her to stay away, not to come over here but no words escaped my mouth.

There were hot tears running down my face and I felt numb. Alice skidded to a halt in front of Winston's body. She fell to her knees in front of him and pulled his body to hers.

"NOOOO!" She screamed. There was so much heart break in her voice that it made me cry even harder. She was clutching Winston to her, begging him to come back, to stay with her.

"Please Winston, come back to me. I love you so much Winston. Please! Please! PLEASE!" She said to him. Her breathing started to get shallow and she started crying hysterically.

"Alice." I said quietly, my voice breaking. She looked up at me, she looked broken.

"I-I-I'm f-fi-fine." She stuttered out.

"No your not." I whispered. She whimpered and started sobbing. I got to my knees besides her. I put a hand on her shoulder causing her to look towards me. I opened my arms to her and she threw herself into them. She sobbed into my shoulder, clutching to me, like she was afraid to let go.

I tightened my arms around Alice and cried with her, I cried because I had lost a close friend, I cried because a very important member of our pack had died, I cried because of the girl in my arms and her heartbreak, I cried because today we had lost Winston Black.

..

A few hours later and I was sitting in the living room of my house, holding a sleeping Alice in my arms. It still didn't seem real, it didn't seem possible that we had lost Winston. I thought back to when I had to tell the rest of the boys and my heart constricted painfully.

'Flashback'

I had just walked into the pack house with Alice crying hysterically at my side. Reed, Justin and Jace were waiting by the door and when I walked in they all immediately rushed towards me.

"What's wrong?" Reed asked. Tears gathered in my eyes because I knew that I was going to have to tell them what happened. Alice let out another heartbroken sob and al of the boys eyes flashed to her. They looked confused as to why Alice was crying so hard.

"Where's Winston?" Reed asked carefully, he was searching my eyes for something and I guess what he saw wasn't good because his face paled.

"He's gone." I whispered. Alice's arms tightened around me and I sighed.

"What do you mean he's gone?!" Justin asked quickly. There was disbelief in the boys eyes but I knew that they understood what I meant, they were waiting for me to say it.

"He's dead. He was killed in the battle." I said quietly. They all gasped. Reeds face paled and his eyes threatened to release tears, I knew this was going to be hard on Reed because he and Winston had been best friends since they were in diapers.

But the twins didn't try to hold back there tears, they let them flow freely.

"This can't be happening." Justin whispered. He had tears running down his face and his hands shook, the twins had been just as close to Winston as Reed had.

"I wish it wasn't." I said truthfully. I saw a single tear slide down Reeds face before he turned and left the room quickly. The twins turned to each other and were quick to follow. I was left alone in the room with a heart broken Alice.

'End of flashback.'

I felt another tear run down my cheek. I didn't think I had any tears left in me. Alice had fallen asleep about twenty minutes ago, she had cried herself to sleep. I don't know how Alice is going to take this, some people go crazy after there mate dies.

I heard soft foot steps from behind me and turned to see Saxon standing in the door way.

"How are you doing?" He asked me quietly. I sighed and shook my head, I can't even explain how I'm doing. He frowned and walked over to me. He sat on the couch next to me and stroked my cheek.

His eyes flashed down to Alice for a moment before they came back up to mine.

"How's she handling?" He asked.

"I don't know if she can handle this Saxon. She's so heart broken, her and Winston weren't even mated for two months." I said. He nodded his head but didn't respond.

"How about we go to bed?" He asked. I nodded my head and looked down to Alice. "I'll carry her." Saxon offered. I removed my arms from around her and Saxons replaced mine. I followed him as he carried Alice upstairs to her bedroom. I opened the door so he could get in. The whole room smelt of Winston and I didn't know how Alice was going to take it when she woke up.

We both walked out of the room, quietly shutting the door behind us and made our way to my room. When I opened the door I noticed that Lilly wasn't in my bed anymore so I figured she was with Josh. I walked over to my bed and climbed into it, pulling Saxon with me.

"Good night baby girl." Saxon whispered in my ear.

"Good night." I whispered back. I then fell into a dreamless sleep.
