Chapter 8 - I can't swim!
I was surrounded.
I had no where to go.
"Where did you get that hoodie?" Jack asked. Jackass.
Crap. I forgot I was still wearing the hoodie that Zach had given me.
"Zach gave it to me." I blurted out.
"Oh, right! Your stupid boyfriend." Noah said.
"He's not stupid! He's really smart! Smart enough to beat the crap out of you and Daniel, like he did at the park today!" I shot back.
Noah and Daniel looked pissed.
Max started walking towards me.
He picked me up and carried me to the living room.
Ugh! Again with the word 'living?'
Why does the word 'living' keep popping up everywhere, when all I want to do is die?
He threw me on the couch.
"Boys, hold her down!" Max shouted. He was gonna beat me up.
Daniel held down my arms. Noah held down my legs. And Jack just watched in amusement.
I opened my mouth to scream when Jack put his hand over my mouth.
Max punched me in the stomach. Really hard. I screamed into Jack's hand. "Shut up, loser!" He said.
It's like Jack has two sides to him! One side is sympathy and the other is being a jerk!
Jack the jerk, and jackass.
Max punched my face.
"Ellie...we hate you," Max said. "You're the worst thing that's ever happened to us, no one likes you, and no one ever will. Just go kill yourself."
And that was the last thing I heard before everything went black.
- In the Morning -
I woke up with a headache.
I woke up in my room.
I guess one of my brothers brought me upstairs to my room after last night's beating.
Ow!
My neck hurts.
I got out of bed and looked in the mirror.
I have a bruise on my neck.
Ouch.
I brushed my teeth, and then I picked up my hairbrush and brushed my hair. I put some makeup over the bruise, hoping to cover it up. I put on some light mascara and then got dressed. Then, I put on my socks and shoes.
I made my bed, grabbed my phone, and backpack and then walked down stairs.
I had some cereal for breakfast.
A few minutes later, Noah opened the front door and walked in. Shirtless.
He was sweaty. I guess he went on his morning jog.
He closed the front door, behind him. Then, he noticed me. "You act like you've never seen abs before."
"Yes, I have!" I lied. I've only seen my brother's abs.
"Whatever. I'm gonna go take a shower. The other boys are sleeping. Mom and dad left for work already. Oh, and stop drooling." He said, while giving me an evil grin.
I rolled my eyes.
"I saw that!" He said, before turning the corner.
"You were supposed to!" I yelled back.
After I finished my breakfast, and put the dishes in the dishwasher, I decided to text Zach.
I sat down on the couch and took out my phone.
Me: Hey! Will I see you at school today?
Zach: Hey, babygirl! Yes, I'll be at school. I can't wait to see you!
I smiled at Zach's text. He's so sweet! I was about to text him back when Daniel screamed in my ear.
"Ahhh! Stop!" I said.
"Ahhh! Stop!" He mocked me.
"Ugh! You're so annoying."
"Thank you, I try to be." He said. "So, you're texting your bf?"
"Yeah," I said.
"Let me see." He said.
I decided to show him the phone because I didn't want him to hurt me if I didn't.
I held the phone up, so he could see it.
Then, he took it.
I heard him texting something.
Then, he turned to me.
I heard him press the send button.
I quickly got up.
"W-what did you just do?" I said, stuttering.
"I texted him, saying that you want to break up with him." Daniel said. He smiled.
My jaw dropped. He chuckled.
"Give me my phone!" I said.
"Nope."
"Give me my phone back, Daniel Jackson Beckett!" I shouted.
"Try to get it, Ellie Nicole Beckett!" He shouted back.
I screamed in frustration.
Then, he ran outside to the backyard. I followed him. But when I got outside, I didn't see him, anywhere.
I walked up to the pool, wondering if he had hidden in there. But, I doubt it.
I looked inside the pool, but I didn't see anyone inside it.
Then, I turned around and saw Daniel right there.
"Ahhh!"
He laughed at my reaction.
Then...he pushed me into the pool.
I can't swim!
I tried to stay above the water but failed miserably.
I was gasping for air.
"Help! I can't swim!"
I start sinking.
I screamed.
Then, I couldn't talk. Because, if I did, water would fill my lungs.
I waved my arms in the air, signaling that I need help. I couldn't see anything but water.
The only reason we have a pool is that my brothers wanted one. I didn't. Because of things like this.
My eyes started getting heavy. It was hard to breathe. My eyes began closing. Everything went black.
I felt someone carrying me out of the water. I tried to open my eyes.
My eyes slowly fluttered open.
I coughed up some water.
I looked up to see... Daniel?
If he did this to me than why did he save me?
He could have killed me.
His sister.
He placed me down on the concrete.
He sat down on the bench. And shook his head, to try to get some water out of his hair...like a dog.
After, several moments of calming myself down and trying to breathe normally again, I sat up.
"Daniel! Why did you save me if you did this to me? You could have killed me!" I yelled at him.
"Well, I didn't. So, chill."
Wow.
I got up and walked inside, soaking wet.
I was leaving a trail of water everywhere I went.
I walked up the stairs, but when I got to the upstairs hallway, I saw...Jack.
"What happened to you?" He asked.
"Daniel." I said, and pouted.
Then, I walked into my room. I changed my clothes and then I put Zach's hoodie on, for warmth.
I walked down stairs. I saw my phone on the counter. I decided not to text Zach that Daniel was the one to send the message.
I wanted to talk to Zach in person so I can explain the whole thing. Because if I do it over text, it will just be a long, pointless text.
I decided to walk to school today, I didn't want my brothers to drive half the way and then tell me to get out and walk the rest. It just doesn't make sense.
I grabbed my backpack from the kitchen counter and walked out of the house to my school.
When I got there, I went to my locker.
I noticed Zach walking down the hallway.
I walked next to him.
"Listen, Zach, Daniel took my phone and sent that message. It wasn't me. Then, when I tried to get it back, he pushed me into the pool. And I couldn't swim, so I blacked out." I explained, hoping he would understand.
"Oh, okay." He said. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. So, can we still be boyfriend and girlfriend?" I asked, hoping the answer would be yes.
"Yes!" He said.
I smiled. "By the way, I love how your wearing my hoodie to school. So cute!" He said.
We laughed.
Then, we walked to class.
