Chapter 7 - Surrounded
It's been about an hour since we kissed.
Right now, we're hanging out in his living room.
What I don't understand is why it's called "living room."
Because I mean, what if someone dies in a living room....then would it be death room? Like, what?
We're watching a movie. A horror movie. Zach has his arm around me.
"Don't open the front door..." I said.
But, she didn't listen, she opened the front door.
"Aaaaahhh!" The girl on the tv screamed. There was a killer clown on the other side of the door.
I jumped a little bit.
Ding Dong!
Zach paused the tv, and then got up to answer the door.
"Wait!" I said.
"What?"
"The clown... he could be outside." I said.
Zach chuckled a little bit.
I mean, it might sound dumb. But, it happened at the same time...so who wouldn't be scared at that?
"It's okay." He said.
Then, he answered the door anyway.
I closed my eyes.
Then, I opened one eye to peek.
Oh, it's just the pizza guy! Haha, I forgot we ordered pizza.
Zach paid him and then the pizza guy left. Zach brought the pizza to the kitchen counter. I sat down on a chair near the counter, and we ate some pizza.
Then we watched some more tv, and just talked.
"Let's go to my room." He said.
"Okay," I said.
He took my hand and lead me up to his room.
He opened the door.
His bedroom walls were blue, and he had posters all over the walls, and there was a signed jersey on one of the walls as well. I noticed a guitar in the corner.
"Cool!" I said.
"Thanks," he chuckled.
I smiled.
"Hey, I have something for you," he said.
"Really? You don't have to give me anything." I said.
"I know, but I want to."
"Aww."
Then, he walked over to his closet and pulled out a blue hoodie.
"No way! Seriously?" I said.
"Yeah," he said.
We both smiled. He handed me the hoodie and I put it on.
"Wow, you look way better in that hoodie than me." He said.
"I doubt it." I said.
He rolled his eyes.
"Do you wanna just talk?" He asked.
"Sure," I said. Then, we sat on the bed.
After almost a half hour of talking, my body needed a stretch.
I stood up and stretched a little bit. Zach just watched. It was pretty funny.
Today, I wore a long sleeve shirt (to cover my cuts) and I wore ripped jean shorts.
As I was stretching, my arm accidentally hit the desk in his room. Which caused pain in my arm. "Ow!!" I said. My hand gripped my arm.
I sat back down on the bed. "Are you okay? What happened?" Zach asked.
"Oh, nothing. I'm fine..." but we all know that was a lie.
"Let me see," Zach said.
"No, really it's fine." I said.
"I just want to see," he said.
"No, no really. It's fine. I'm okay," I said.
"If it was fine, you'd let me see," he said, and pulled my sleeve up.
I frowned and looked at the floor.
"Ellie..." he began.
"Come here, it's okay, everything will be okay." He continued.
I leaned into him, he put his arms around me and his neck was on my shoulder. He kissed the top of my head. He made me feel safe. I liked that.
After a few minutes, he broke the silence.
"Did you do that? Or your brothers?" He asked.
"I did it," I said.
"El, I'm so sorry."
"It's fine." I said.
"No, it's not. Is it infected?" He asked.
"I don't know." I replied.
"Here, we should clean it up." He said.
"I guess..." I said.
He lead me back downstairs and into the kitchen. He opened one of the cabinets and got out a first aid kit.
He got a paper towel and put soap and water on it.
Then, he walked over to me.
He told me to extend my arm out, so I did. "This might sting, but it will be okay," he said. I nodded my head. He took the wet, soapy paper towel and put it on the cut on my arm. It stung like he said. But it will be okay. He applied some pressure to my arm which stopped the stinging. Then, he took the paper towel off. He told me to put on some neosporon, so I did. Then, he put a bandaid on my arm.
"Thank you," I said.
"No problem!" He said.
"Listen, it's getting late, and I probably should go back home, no matter how much I don't want to. Because I know my parents will probably ask questions about why I didn't go to school and I have to make up an excuse. But, I'll see you tomorrow at school, right?" I said.
"Okay, yeah I'll see you at school tomorrow." He said.
I nodded and I began walking to the front door, hoping that there wouldn't be a clown behind it.
"El, wait!" He said. I turned around.
"Be safe."
I smiled. "I will."
Then, I used my phone to help me get directions back to my house.
When I finally got back home, I looked through the window. I saw all of my brothers in the kitchen and living room. But, no parents. They were probably asleep.
I decided to go through the back door, that leads to the dinning room.
I opened the back door, quietly. There were some points where it was creaking. I'm just hoping that my brothers didn't hear me.
I walked in, and quietly closed the door behind me. When I turned around, I saw an angry brother looking at me with his arms crossed.
Max.
"Crap." I said.
He smirked.
"Where were you? Were you still with your little boyfriend?"
"Yes, I was. And he's not little. He's Daniel's age!" I said.
"Oh, so you're dating an older guy?"
"Stop! Leave me alone."
"Nah. Boys!" He said.
And then, the next thing I knew all of my brothers were standing next to him.
I was surrounded.
