Chapter 52 - The Prank War Begins
- Friday Morning -
I get up, take a shower, brush my hair, brush my teeth, and get dressed.
I put on my converse and grab my phone off of the nightstand.
I open my bedroom door and I begin to walk out of my room until something stops me.
"Hey! Help! Someone help me!" I shouted.
I hear footsteps and laughter.
"Got you!" Jack said. "That was so good!"
"I got it on video!" Daniel said.
I rolled my eyes.
"What is this, exactly?" I asked.
"It's a plastic wrap," Daniel said.
"Can you guys help me get out?" I asked.
"Nope," Jack said.
Daniel shook his head.
"Fine," I said.
I managed to reach a pair of scissors that were randomly on my desk...
"Why do you have a pair of scissors just laying on your desk?" Daniel asked.
"Uh, no reason."
Jack rolled his eyes. "Whatever."
I used the scissors to cut the plastic wrap.
I put the scissors back on my desk and threw the plastic wrap at them and then I began walking down the stairs.
About three stairs down, I tripped on something and fell down the entire flight of stairs.
I fell onto the floor on my back.
I looked back at the stairs and saw my brothers filming me. They were laughing and waving.
"I'm definitely going to get you back for this!" I said while standing up and limping away into the kitchen.
"Yeah, good luck with that!" Jack shouted.
"Hey, what was that loud thump?" Noah asked, walking into the kitchen.
I guess he was upstairs too.
"Prank war," I said.
He nodded. "Who's in the prank war?"
"Jack, Daniel, and I," I said. "Do you want to join us?"
"No. No, no, no, no, no! Daniel's pranks scare the crap out of me!"
I laughed.
He playfully punched my arm. "Don't laugh at me. Once you realize how terrifying his pranks really are, you'll realize that I was right."
"Whatever," I said.
"knucklehead," I heard him mutter under his breath.
I snapped my head in his direction.
I glared at him.
He looked at me and he looked creeped out.
He put his hands up in surrender. "I-I'm sorry. I'm really sorry," he said.
I nodded and then grabbed some eggs.
I decided to make some scrambled eggs and bacon.
- At school -
I walked to my locker and grabbed my English notebook.
Then, I walked to class.
The bell had just run, so I decided to take a seat towards the back of the class.
The desk had words written, engraved, and carved all over it, that were clearly left for me.
Stupid
Ugly
Fat
Annoying
Retarded
You're a burden.
Kill yourself.
I felt the tears in my eyes.
No one can see how you really feel about it.
Just ignore it.
No has to be there for you, except yourself.
Be kind to yourself.
Love yourself.
You're beautiful, even if you don't think it's true.
You're beautiful. Every day, in every way.
Then, laughter erupted from most students in the class.
Some looked at me with sympathy and sorrow.
"Alright students, please settle down. Good morning. Today, we are going to read some Shakespeare," Mrs. Liliana said.
She connected her laptop to the projector and pulled up a story by Shakespeare.
For the rest of English class, I tried my best not to think about those words even though I was sitting right behind them. Literally! I was sitting at the desk, which had those words on it.
It's called vandalism. Vandalism of school property. They should look at the security cameras and see who did it, and then expel them.
After class, I went to my locker to put my things away.
Even though the class was over for right now, there wasn't many people in the hallways.
I opened up my locker and something fell on me.
I fell onto the floor.
I looked up and it was sand.
There was sand all over me.
I heard a familiar chuckle from behind me.
I turned around to see Daniel and Jack laughing.
I rolled my eyes.
I seem to roll my eyes a lot.
"Are you serious? Sand?"
"Yep," Jack said.
"Well, what am I supposed to wear now?" I asked.
"Go to the main office, and they'll give you some clothes," Daniel said.
"Yeah, but you might need an XL!" A boy said.
I turned my attention to the boy.
He looked about fifteen.
He had brown hair and brown eyes.
He looked pretty fit.
His words struck me like a lightning bolt.
I felt the tears forming in my eyes again.
"What did you just say to my little sister?" Daniel asked the boy.
"I said, she might need an XL!" The boy answered.
Jack just stared at them.
"Are you seriously calling my sister fat?" Daniel asked.
"Yep."
"Oh, you are so going to get it, now!" Daniel said, while his hand formed a fist.
Daniel threw a punch at the boy.
The boy fell down but quickly got back up.
"What's your name, dumbass?" Daniel asked.
Oh no, he's cursing. That means he's really angry.
"Nick."
"Well, Nick, I don't like people bullying my sister," Daniel began. "So, apologize to her!"
Nick nodded and walked over to me.
"You should eat makeup so you can be prettier on the inside too," he whispered to me. But, only I could hear what he was saying.
"You're so pathetic. Do everyone a favor and kill yourself."
He quickly looked back behind him. Daniel was facing the other way.
Nick grabbed my arms and pushed me around the corner of the hallway.
He roughly pinned me against the wall and slapped my face.
I saw my reflection in the window and I could see that I had a huge red mark on my right cheek.
He quietly chuckled.
"Where is she?" I heard Daniel say from around the corner.
Then, Jack appeared in the same hallway as us.
"Found her!" Jack said.
And the next thing I knew, Jack punched Nick in the face.
Nick had a bloody nose.
Jack took my hand, and we went back to the other hallway.
I saw the principal.
Mrs. Morgan.
"Who is responsible for this mess?" She asked while pointing to the sand on the floor.
"That would be us!" Daniel and Jack said.
Wait, they actually just turned themselves in?
"You two have detention for today!" Mrs. Morgan said.
The boys nodded and looked at the ground.
Then, Nick came around the corner.
He looked so mad.
Then, he walked over to Jack and tried to punch him.
"Enough!" Mrs. Morgan shouted. "Nick you now have after school detention too!"
Nick rolled his eyes.
"What happened to your face, Nick?" She asked.
"Her!" Jack pointed at me.
"What?!" I said.
I did nothing!
"I didn't do anything!"
"Yes, you did," Nick said.
Mrs. Morgan looked shocked. "Ellie, you now have detention as well!"
"What? But--"
"No but's! You all have detention and that's final!"
I looked down at the floor.
"That's so not fair," I muttered.
"Life's not fair, kid," Mrs. Morgan said.
She's usually so nice, but now she isn't.
Is she just having a bad day?
Did I ruin her day?
Was it me?
Am I the reason?
Oh no! I have detention with Daniel, Jack, and...Nick!
What if they fight again?
What if someone gets hurt because of me?
I've never had a detention before.
What will happen next?
