Chapter 5 - Yeah, Yeah, I'm Fine
It's been about 3 hours since I ran away. No ones come looking for me. I knew it! I knew no one would care!
The good thing is that I brought my phone. I stole it back, when I went down stairs earlier to get the knife.
I took my phone out of my pocket and I sat down on a curb next to an unknown road. I don't even know where I was anymore.
I sent my mom a voicemail, because of course, she didn't answer. She never did. Neither, did my dad.
"Mom, you never listened to me. Neither did dad. Everyone hates me, and I know I'm useless and not worth anything but I'm just a kid. I ran away, but I know you don't care. When you and dad get back from work, you'll probably just celebrate with my brothers...the ones who fake everything in front of you. Try to open up your eyes and see that I'm depressed. Try to see who my brothers really are. Try to realize how much this family has hurt me." I said. Then, I ended the voicemail. I put my phone back into my pocket. And cried. I just sat there and cried.
"Hey, are you okay?" Someone asked.
I turned my attention to the person. They were a boy. He looked to be around Daniel's age. Which was 15. Only a year older than me.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. Why?" I said, while wiping the tears away from my eyes.
"Okay, first of all that's so not true. And second, do you want to talk about it?" He asked, while sitting down on the curb, next to me.
"Sure, I guess, I mean, why not?" I began. I told him everything. I told him about how my parents don't care about me, how my brothers bully and abuse me, that I get bullied at school, and that I self harm.
He looked at me. "I'm so sorry."
"Its fine, it's not your fault. You did nothing wrong. But, I did." I said.
"No you didn't ." He said.
"Yes, I did."
"Then what did you do?" He asked.
"It's my fault. I'm ugly, and fat, and annoying. It's my fault. It's all my fault." I said.
"No, it's not. I promise you, you're none of those things." He said.
I looked at him. "Really?" I asked.
"Yeah, really. You're none of those things." He said.
"Thanks, what's your name?" I said.
"You're welcome, and my name is Zachary. But, you can call me Zach if you want," He said.
"That's a nice name, Zach." I said.
He smiled. "Thanks."
I just nodded.
"What's your name?" He asked me.
"My names Ellie. But my friends call me El," I said. Then, I remembered I don't have friends.
:(
"Oops, sorry. Let me try that again. My names Ellie. But sometimes people call me El," I said.
"Okay, El, and if you want I'll be your friend." He said.
"Really? Or are you just saying that because you feel sorry for me?" I asked.
I don't need any more fake friends.
"No. I really do want to be your friend." He said.
I smiled. "Okay," I said.
"Do you want to go to the park?" He asked.
"Sure," I said.
"Wait, Zach why aren't you in school?" I asked.
"Well, I wanted to skip today, because I just needed some space from everything. So, I talked to my parents and they agreed. But I have to go to school tomorrow." He said.
"Oh, okay, what school do you go to?" I asked. I wonder if we go to the same school. But I doubt i—
"Jefferson High School." He said.
"I go there!" I said.
"Seriously?" He asked.
"Yeah, wow. That's so cool!" I said.
"Yeah. Let's go to the park, we can continue to talk there." He said.
"Okay," I said and we both smiled.
He got up first. He held his hand out for me, i just stared at it for a second. I'm usually used to my brothers doing that for me, then dropping me. It hurts, both mentally and physically.
After a moment, I took his hand. He pulled me up.
"Thank you," I said. He nodded.
And we held hands as we walked to the park.
