Chapter 32 - Family Day!
- Sunday Morning -
I just woke up.
Last night, was a weird night.
I mean, I recovered from suicide, I found out that my parents actually care about me, Zach and Anna were throwing me a surprise party for no reason, and Austin asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes.
Oh my gosh...I said yes!
Austin's the bad boy of Jefferson High School.
What if people start to fear me because of it?
Or...will I become popular from it?
But, I don't want to be popular because of who I'm dating.
I don't want to be popular at all.
I just want to have some friends, that's all.
I decided to just get ready. Today, my whole family is going to have a family day! And I'm pretty excited.
I get out of my bed and walk over to my bathroom. I take off my PJ's and take a shower.
Then, I get out of the shower and dry myself off. I brush my teeth, and then I brush my hair. I decided to put on some mascara as well.
I walk over to my closet and I put on a crop top and shorts. I put my phone in my back pocket. Then, I make my bed.
Now I'm ready for the day!
I walk downstairs to the smell of pancakes and bacon.
Wow! I haven't had that meal in so long.
"Good morning, Ellie!" My dad says.
I smile.
"Morning, sweetie," my mom says.
"Good morning!" I say.
My brothers all said good morning as well. (I just didn't want to have to write basically the same sentence over and over again besides changing their names.)
"Breakfast looks so good!" I said.
Recently, I haven't eaten much....because of my weight. I've basically just been eating a protein bar or something small.
But, maybe that should change.
Everyone is different in their own ways. I need to be myself, more. I should be proud of who I am, instead of being sad about who I am.
"Thanks, I tried." My mom said, while flipping a pancake over with the spatula.
I nodded.
Then, I walked over to my brothers, who were sitting in the living room.
"Hey, baby sis," Max said.
"Hey," I said.
Then, before I knew it, I was being pulled onto Noah's lap.
Strange.
"I love you, El," he said.
"I love you too--" I said, but I soon got cut off by my phone making a dinging sound.
I got my phone out of my pocket and looked at my messages.
I had a message from Austin.
I opened up the message.
Austin: Hey, baby girl! I miss you, I know you can't hang out today, but you're still coming to the high school party tomorrow, right?
My brothers gasped.
"What?" I asked.
"You can't go to a high school party!" Daniel whisper-shouted.
"Yes I can," I said.
"No, you can't." Jack whisper-shouted as well.
"Why not?"
"Because. It's for high schoolers." Noah said.
"Well, I'm a high schooler," I said.
"I mean, for older high schoolers. Like, juniors and seniors," he said.
I sighed.
"Ellie, can I talk to you outside, please?" Max asked.
I nodded.
I got off of Noah's lap and walked to the front porch with Max.
"What?" I asked.
"You can't go to a high school party!"
"I know I'm not a junior or senior, but Austin's going and I want to go!" I argued.
"And me and you're other brothers don't know if we can trust Austin. After everything that's happened."
"I don't care, okay? I like Austin and that's final." I said. "I'm going to that party whether you like it or not. Oh, and don't tell mom and dad because if you do, you don't know what I'll do!"
I did not know what just happened.
Did I really just say that?
Well, it's a little too late to take that back.
My brother looked shocked. He narrowed his eyes at me.
"Fine! But, if anyone lays a hand on you, I'll kill them!" He said.
I nodded and walked towards the front door.
"Oh, and if anything happens to you, just remember that I told you so," he said, while smirking.
I rolled my eyes and opened the front door. I walked inside, and Max walked in behind me.
He whispered to my brothers what happened.
"Breakfast's ready!" My dad shouted.
My brothers jumped off of the couch.
"Finally!" Jack said.
I walked over to the kitchen and sat down on a chair near the fridge.
I just remembered that I didn't reply to Austin's text.
I pull out my phone from my back pocket, again. And I go into my messages.
Austin: Hey, baby girl! I miss you, I know you can't hang out today, but you're still coming to the high school party tomorrow, right?
Me: Yes! I can't wait. Just so you know, I'll tell my parents about our relationship later, but they can't know that I slept at your house, or that I'm going to the party, okay?
Austin: Okay, no problem! I got to go to eat breakfast, but I'll talk to you later.
Me: Okay! I love you, Cupcake.
Austin: 😂
Austin: I love you too, Sunshine
"Sweetie, who are you texting?" My mom asked.
I panicked. "Austin." I blurted out.
"Ooh, who's Austin?" She said.
My brothers laughed.
"How are you okay with her texting a boy?" My dad asked.
"Honey, she's a teenager, let her have a little fun," My mom said.
I smiled.
My mom placed a plate of pancakes and bacon in front of me. I began eating it.
"So, how did you two meet?" She asked.
"In school, we ran into each other in the hallway," I said.
Well, something like that. At least, I'm not completely lying.
"Oh okay. Well, when do we get to meet this boy?"
"I'm not sure, I had one idea," I said.
"Okay, and what's your idea?" My dad asked.
"Well, I was thinking maybe he could come over for dinner, tonight?" I said.
"Sure! Why not?" My mom said. Well, kind of shouted.
My dad spit his tea out of his mouth at the words my mother had just said.
We all laughed...except for him.
Now, I just realized how much I missed this!

- Sunday Afternoon -
I'm sitting on my bed, reading a book on Wattpad.
Knock Knock
"Come in."
My bedroom door starts opening.
My mom walks in.
"Hey, sweetie," she said.
"Hi, mom."
She sat down on the bed.
"Listen, I talked to Austin's parents and Austin and his family will be coming over for dinner," she said.
I smiled.
"Awesome, thanks, mom!"
"Of course, sweetie," She said. "Since today is our family day, how about we go see a movie and then have some ice cream?"
"Yes!"
She laughed. I smiled.
"Okay, well I'll go tell your father and your brothers."
I nodded.
She got up from the bed, and walked out of my room, shutting the door behind her.
I heard her talking to my brothers, and then the next thing I heard was them screaming...in a happy way.
The floor was shaking, so I'm guessing that they were jumping.
"Yes!" I heard Daniel shout.
I heard my mother's laughter.
That's something I will always love.
Knock Knock
"Come in."
The door opened, this time it was Max.
"Hey, El, we're about to leave," he said.
"Okay, let me just finish reading this chapter," I said.
He groaned in annoyance.
"Come on!"
I rolled my eyes.
"Ugh! Fine!"
I got up from my bed, and put my phone in my back pocket of my jean shorts.
He was smirking.
"Move, Hippy!" I said, and pushed past Max.
His jaw dropped. I laughed.
"Hippy?" He asked.
"Yep." I said, while crossing my arms.
"Kids, were leaving!" I heard dad shout from downstairs.
"Whatever, loser. Let's go." He said.
I turned around, and walked out of my room, Max followed me and shut the door behind him.
We walked downstairs.
We all smiled and then walked outside, my mom locked the front door, and then we all got into the car. We were pretty squished. My parents sat in the front, Jack, Daniel, and I sat in the middle row, and then Noah, and Max sat in the very back. I don't really understand why no one made me sit in the very back.
"Mommy, why isn't Ellie sitting in the very back? Why do I have to sit in the back?" Noah said.
I rolled my eyes.
He's such a Momma's boy.
"Momma's boy." I turned around and whispered to Noah.
He rolled his eyes. "Shut up, dork!" He whisper-shouted to me.
My jaw dropped. "Seriously?" I asked.
He just chuckled.
"Noah, you're older, you should just be able to handle it. We're almost there, anyway." My mom said.
I smiled at Noah. "I told you so."
"I told you so." He mocked me.
"Ugh!"
He laughed.
- A few minutes later -
"Kids, we're here!" My dad said, while parking the car.
Everyone got out of the car.
We walked into the building.
We went to the ticket booth.
"Hello, how are you are today?" The woman asked.
"Hi, I'm good, how are you?" My mom said.
"Good. So, what movie would you like to see, today?"
"We're not sure, do you have any recommendations?" My mom said.
"Yes, actually. I would recommend a scary movie. It really brings you out of your comfort zone," the woman said.
"Okay, what's the most popular scary movie you guys have?"
"I would definitely say Suicide Square."
"Okay, what's it about?"
"It's about a girl, about the age of 14 who doesn't like her life. And she gets bullied a lot, so she tries to go to suicide square, a place where a lot of people commit suicide," the woman said. "It's a very heartfelt movie. I would definitely recommend it."
My mother looked at my brothers, they all nodded.
"Alright, we'll take 7 tickets to 'Suicide Square', please." My mom said.
The woman nodded and handed us the tickets.
We thanked her and then walked to the food area.
We bought some soda, popcorn, and candy.
Then, we walked into the theater room for 'Suicide Square.'
I took a deep breath and then walked in.
We took our seats, just as the movie began.
I sat between Noah and Daniel. Next to Daniel was Max, and next to Noah was Jack. Next to Jack, was my mom and dad.
I know, it's a little confusing. But, basically, I'm in the middle.
My thoughts soon got interrupted by the movie.
-Towards the end of the movie-
'I want to be happy. I want to be pretty. I want to be free.' The girl whispered to herself. She was sitting on the floor in her bedroom. She took out a blade and began cutting herself.
Then, she jumped out of her bedroom window and went to Suicide Square.
It was night time, so barely anyone was there.
I could feel teardrops forming in my eyes.
Good thing, the movie theater is dark.
I tried my best to hold in my emotions and fight back the urge to cut myself.
I can't do it....
The tears started streaming down my face, but I forced myself to keep quiet.
I don't need everyone in this movie theater to see me crying.
"Hey, are you okay?" Noah whispered to me.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I said.
But, he knew that I was lying.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"Nothing," I lied again.
I quietly cried more.
Daniel noticed as well.
"Hey, sis what's wrong?"
"Nothing..."
I quietly got up and walked out of the aisle.
But, my mom stopped me. "Sweetie, what's wrong?"
"I just need to go to the bathroom, I'm fine," I said.
Again, another lie.
I walked out of the theater and to the women's bathroom.
I looked at myself in the mirror.
Mascara was running down my face.
I just stood in front of the mirror, crying.
Several minutes passed by.
Then, my mom walked in.
"Oh my gosh, what's wrong?" She asked.
She put her arms around me and hugged me.
"It's just that the movie, really made me upset," I said. "Because I could relate to a lot of it."
"Oh, honey. I'm so sorry. Why didn't you just tell us that you didn't want to watch it?" She said.
"Well, I didn't want to ruin our family day," I said.
"Ellie, you wouldn't have ruined it! It's okay to be sad. You just had to tell us. Your brothers would have understood."
"Thanks, mom," I said.
"Of course. And the movie just ended, so how about we all go out for some ice cream?"
I nodded and smiled.
She really knows how to cheer me up.
"Awesome!" She said.
She handed me a paper towel and I wiped off my tears and mascara.
Then, we walked out of the bathroom and back into the theater.
"Oh, they're back!" Jack shouted.
"Shhh!" My dad said.
We all quietly laughed.
Even though the movie is over, we still should be quiet.
"Ellie, you good?" Max asked.
I nodded.
"Alright, who's up for some ice cream?" My mom asked.
Everyone nodded.
We walked out of the theater and then we walked out of the building.
We all got into the car and sat in the same seat as we did on the way there.
A few minutes later we arrived at the ice cream place.
We got out of the car and walked into the building.
"Hi, can I get the Butterfinger Coffee in a cup, please?" I asked.
I know the flavor might be strange, but I like it. And I'm getting the ice cream in a cup because I don't want to be messy...kind of like my brothers.
The girl nodded and scooped some of the ice cream into a cup.
I thanked her and began eating the ice cream.
Everyone else ordered what they wanted.
Then, we got back into the car.
We ate the ice cream in the car and listened to music.
The windows were down, and we were singing along to the lyrics.
I want this day to last forever.
