Chapter 2 - I just...
Jack and I finally got back home. When we got there, Noah was back. Daniel, Max, and Noah we're sitting at the counter in the kitchen. Jack and I were still holding hands.
The boys noticed us. They brought their full attention on us. Jack and I instantly let go.
I bit my lip, nervously.
"Are mom and dad awake?" I asked. I'm hoping they are, so I can just talk to them about something else so it can take my mind off of everything.
But, I know they wouldn't care about any of this, about anything!
"Nope. They fell asleep." Noah said.
I gulped. Noah smirked at me.
Noah started walking towards me. I hid my face behind Jack, even though I knew he could see me.
"Leave her alone, Noah." Jack said. Wow, he actually stood up for me. Well, that's new.
"Oh yeah? And what will happen if I don't?" Noah said, and he shoved Jack. Jack then shoved Noah. And soon enough, it turned into a full-on fight. But, they tried to keep it quieter so they don't wake up mom and dad.
"Stop." I said. But, no one listened. Per usual.
A while later, Daniel and Max, were finally able to break the fight up.
No one got severely hurt. As if I care, though? I don't know if I care or not.
Soon enough, mom came downstairs. Dad was still asleep. Classic.
"Hey, what's going on down here?" She asked. "We all just got back from a walk. And we needed a snack." Max said. "Is that true, everyone?" She asked, making sure we're not lying or anything. She looked at me. I quickly glanced at Daniel. He mouthed the words: 'Lie.'
So I did.
"Yep. We just came back. And I need a snack too!" I said, lying.
I glanced back at Daniel. He smirked. I frowned. "Alright, well goodnight everyone." She said. "Goodnight." All the boys said, while smiling.
I was still upset so I didn't say goodnight. She looked at me. "Well? Aren't you going to say good night?" She asked. "I don't know." I blurted out. It was all I could think of. "Say goodnight." She said. "Fine. Goodnight." I said with a little sass in my tone of voice. "Don't be rude, hug your brothers good night. Then, I'll go upstairs and you guys can continue your little snackmitzfa!" She said. "Do I seriously have to hug...them?" I asked, while looking at my brothers. Our mom was facing me so she couldn't see what my brothers were doing. They were giving me an evil grin. I hated that evil grin, nothing good comes from it. I see that evil grin a lot. I hate it. "Don't be rude! And hug them," She said. I listened.
I walked over to Max first. I put my arms around him and hugged him. He squeezed me pretty tight, and I could tell he was doing that on purpose. Then, I walked over to Noah. Oh no! Why? Why do I have to hug them? I put my arms around him and he hugged me back. Oh, that's it? Huh, not that bad...I guess. Next, I walked over to Daniel. He had a smirk on his face. I hugged him. He had his arms around me, tightly. Which prevented me from being able to get up. "You better not tell mom and dad about earlier in the woods." He whispered in my ear, so only I could hear what he said. He threatened me. Ugh! I pulled away from him, and he smiled. An innocent, obviously fake, smile. But, mom couldn't tell. She couldn't tell his innocent smile was obviously fake. She couldn't tell that her four sons abuse and bully her daughter. She couldn't tell that her daughter is in pain.
And lastly, I walked over to Jack. I threw my arms around him and he smiled. But, this time it wasn't a fake smile. It was a real, sincere smile. I liked that. After we hugged and said goodnight, my mom walked back upstairs. I heard her bedroom door close, and then my brothers continued talking.
"I'm thirsty." I said. "Then, go get something to drink. We aren't your maids." Noah said. "I wasn't telling you to get me a drink. I was just saying I was thirsty." I stated while walking over to the fridge. I took out the cold pitcher of water and got a glass from one of the cabinets. I poured the water into the glass, and put the pitcher back into the fridge.
"Hey, Ellie?" Daniel said. "Yeah?" I asked. What does he want now? "Can you get me some water?" He asked, surprisingly in a nice tone of voice. "Since you asked so nicely, sure." I said. To be honest, that wasn't the only reason I decided to get him some water. I was also scared to see what they would do to me if I didn't get him water. I mean, if they reacted the way they did when I took Daniel's bag of pretzels from earlier then I don't know how they would react if I didn't get Daniel some water.
"How much water do you want?" I asked. "A lot." Daniel replied. I nodded.
I opened the fridge again, and grabbed the cold pitcher of water and another glass, I poured water almost to the rim of the glass, and then handed it to Daniel. Then, I put the pitcher back into the fridge.
I finished my glass of water, and then put the cup in the sink.
I was about to walk upstairs, when someone tripped me. I fell onto the floor. I looked up to see Daniel towering over me, holding the glass of water.
"No, no, no, no!" I said. "Yes, yes, yes, yes!" he said. "No, no! Please! Danny, please! Please, stop!" I said. But, he didn't listen. He poured the entire glass of freezing cold water on my head. My jaw dropped. I cannot believe he just did that...actually, you know what? I can!
All of the boys laughed at me, except for Jack.
My brothers took out their phones they were taking pictures, and videos of me...suffering.
Ugh!
"Loser!" Daniel said and then walked away. Jack came over to me. He handed me a towel. I thanked him and wiped my face.
He walked upstairs with me. We walked to my room.
"I have to change into my pj's." I said. "Alright, I'll be back, I'll let you get changed." He said and walked into the hallway and shut my door.
I changed into my pj's. "Alright, I'm done." I said. "Took you long enough." He joked while walking back in and shutting the door behind him.
I laughed. And he smiled.
I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth.
I sat on my bed. Jack pulled the covers over me, and tucked me in. For being 14, he's pretty nice...sometimes!
I looked up at him and smiled. "Thank you, Jack," I said. "You're welcome." He said. He smiled back.
He leaned down and kissed my head. To be honest, I didn't really mind.
Then, he opened the door and walked out, shutting the door behind him.
I want to be happy.
I sunk into my thoughts.
I want to be worth something.
What is happening?
I want my brothers to love me again, like they used to.
Ugh! Stupid thoughts!
Why me?
Just why?
Why am I stuck with this family that never cares about me?
I need to know, if I have to be stuck with them for the rest of my life.
I just...don't want to be alive anymore.
