Chapter 1: Lonely
"They say time will heal you like a potion, but time only has me missing more of you." -Lyric from What It's Like To Be Lonely
-----------------------------------------------------------
Once out of earshot, the girl sighed as she steadied herself. Her feet came to a stop, as she glanced at her schedule.
She saw that she saw Science as her first class. The class was in Room B6. The girl scanned the hallways, and found Room B6 near the water fountain.
She quickly went in as the bell rang. Students started picking seats, which left the girl to sit by herself.
Since it was her first day, she figured that the other students would try to get to know her, or simply allow her to adjust.
Soon, the kids around her started to talk about her. "Freak." "Weirdo." "What if it's contagious?" one asked in a low whisper.
The kids snickered as the girl overheard everything. Even when she wasn't trying to be noisy, her ears would perk up whenever she was mention. Most of the time though, nothing good came out from it.
She had a blank expression as she taught herself to hide any pain. Deep down though, her heart was breaking, and thoughts started to invade her innocent, carefree mind.
"Aw, looks like you'll be unwanted... Again!"
"T-That's not true,"
"Oh, but it is! You're probably unloved by everyone!"
"Stop it!"
"Why? I barely begun! This is fun! I can hurt you all I want, and you'll just slowly crumble into these thoughts,"
"Liar!"
"Keep it up. Sooner or later, you'll find out that everyone lies,"
Her thoughts vanished as the bell rang. She packed her assignment away, as she pushed in her chair before getting trampled by her fellow classmates.
None of them, made an effort to even stop and ask if she wanted help. She lurched herself onto a chair, and with her strength, helped herself stand up.
Her clothes were now covered with printed footsteps, her hair was dusty, and her bookbag was also inflicted by the cruel treatment of her classmates.
The teacher was reading a book, and didn't bother to pay attention to her. It was almost as if she didn't... Exist.
The girl grabbed her stuff, and forced herself to ignore the throbbing pain of her head, along with the fact that no one cared about her.
So are you starting to see the cruel, reality of life?
Shut up...
I am you!
Look, it's only my first day here. Stop assuming things. I could have friends.
Or you'll end up lonely throughout your middle school year.
Lonely was the triggered word. She hated-- Well, that's a rather strong word. She disliked the word, mainly because that's how she felt.
She wasn't always lonely, though. She had a friend. Her name was Angelica. They were best friends, until the day came that Angelica had to move to New York.
"Do you have to move?" the five-year-old girl asked sadly. "Yes. I'm sorry," Angelica said sincerely, but deep down, it was a lie.
"Don't go, please!" the girl cried as tears ran down her cheeks. Angelica, however merely smiled at her and walked inside her car.
She didn't even get a goodbye hug. That was six years ago.
"So, this is what it's like to be lonely," the girl mumbled before feeling a rough grip. The girl didn't even try to put up a fight, at this point.
Because of that, she received three punches to the stomach, and a harsh impact from the lockers. She was thankful that she didn't eat breakfast, otherwise she would be puking.
The kids surrounding her laughed as she stood up before dragging one foot after another. As if her morning wasn't bad enough, people purposely poured their books over her.
"Oops! I'm so sorry," someone said sarcastically as snickers continued. The girl grabbed the book, and with no hesitation, threw the book at the person's face.
She bitterly walked off, not caring about the gasps. Classes came and go, and she tried to grasp what she learned, but that was impossible, thanks to the fact that she overheard people talking about her behind her back.
Lunch came, as the girl sat in a corner outside the cafeteria and ate her sack lunch which was nothing more than a ham and cheese sandwich.
She looked at her bag. Outside, it looked tough, but when she crumbled the bag, it had paper marks, and was curled up like a ball.
Maybe I'm just like this brown paper bag. I'm here, but in the end, I just get trashed.
The thought was enough that she felt her cheeks getting wet. She wiped the tear away as she threw away her trash, before throwing away half of her lunch in the process.
Thanks to the damage, she felt like she wasn't good enough to eat one of her favorite things. She then started to make her way to fifth class, where she would learn about typing.
