*The next morning *

Third person POV 

Avery and Minho were looking for Newt and Phoenix but hadn't found them yet they were walking around the back of the Deadheads near the edge of the Glade when they found them Avery burst out laughing while Minho was visibly disturbed.

They were both undressed from what they had done the day before need I say more.

That's when they woke up.

Phoenix went to grab her clothing to hide herself and Newt just blushed.

"Phoenix we got to go it's a runners job to run the maze let's go." Avery spoke like she hadn't just been laughing at her naked friends.

*Time skip to when they were going into the maze *

Phoenix' POV 

I am so embarrassed I can't believe Avery and Minho saw me like that with Newt just ahhhhhhh!

We took off into the maze and I pass something to Avery when we stopped for lunch and I told her "don't read this until you're done running today."

I saw her look extremely confused when I saw the sign (which was a griever standing infront of the passage) and I ran as fast as could dropping my runners bag I slide under the griever and entered the secret entrance or the one time only exit.

Today was my last day in the Glade.

Avery's POV 

Phoenix just took off running so fast I looked around the corner and saw a griever she is crazy I screamed her name as if that would stop her as loud as I could my hands and legs were shaking badly from seeing my best friend do something crazy then I saw the wall close and it never opened again.

Then the griever came at me and I was cornered I was scared I tried to get away but my life was very likely to end when a rock came flying and it hit the griever making it run after whoever threw the rock.

I chased the griever around the corner and saw Minho and Newt. Minho was about to pick up another rock, but the griever charged at them. They jumped out of the way just in time. It turned and started to charge at them again. Minho wasn't fast enough and almost got stung, I push him out of the way instead. Then everything goes black.

Minho's POV

Newt and I were just running our route, and we heard the sound of a wall moving. In the daytime. We decided to see what was going on, but all we saw was Avery cornered by a griever. I threw a rock at it and it came for us. The griever came towards me and I was sure I was getting stung. Then Avery, the youngest ever glader, pushes me out of the way and gets herself stung.

"Bloody hell, why would she do that?" Newt askes

"Who gives a shuck, we need to get her back to the glade!" I respond, starting to pick her up.

"What about Phoenix?"

"Newt, Phoenix'll be fine, now come on!" and I start sprinting back to the glade, holding Avery, not bothering to check if Newt was behind me.

Avery's Pov

I see shards of my old life play before me, as though I'm reliving it; "So your going into the maze first?" I asked

"Not alone, there's like twenty or thirty others going with me so, don't worry little sis." Minho replied

"Fine. Also, stop talking to me like I'm a shucking three year old. I've been through just as much as you, and I don't need you taking care of me, because I can look after myself."

Then it changed and it was a different memory one of me and a boy who looks about the same age as me "Avery you're going into the maze?" The boy asked.

"Yes Chuck, I am." I responded. We were both almost in tears.

"Wait, then I have to do something before you forget about me." The boy who I assume is Chuck said before kissing me.

It changed yet again and I was in what I think is a vent and I was crawling around and Phoenix was behind me when I heard a conversation.

"So Newt, what happened between you and Phoenix last night?" The voice saying this sounded like Minho.

"We didn't do anything, come on what do you think we did?" The other person said who I'm assuming is Newt.

"You guys had s-"Minho was cut off.

And then another memory. I was in a vent again, alone this time, when I hear someone.

"Why does Avery like Chuck though, I mean, my sister is super strong and can take care of herself, like she barely ever cries. Whereas Chuck, correct me if I'm wrong, Thomas, you guys found him sobbing?" Minho

"Your not wrong, but honestly, I don't blame Chuck for crying. He was alone in some place he'd never been. Avery at least, had you with her the whole time. Chuck had no one." the boy named Thomas said.

"Minho, just leave them be. I know Avery is mad at you for treating her like a little kid. She's more mature than you'd think. Plus, she probably thinks something of you and Kat." I didn't recognize this person. It was a girl, and she seemed to be, no, she was holding hands with Thomas.

Just then, Minho up and left, obviously pissed off. I followed him to the barracks, and once he was there, alone I dropped down and kicked him in the shins.

"That's what you get for being rude to my boyfriend." and then I slid back into the vents before he could counteract my kicks.

It changed again I was in what looked like a bedroom Phoenix stood beside me "Avery please be careful I'm going into the maze to mess things up so stay safe they are probably going to try and remove me so I have a limited amount of time to do my job, take care of Phantom for me."

This time it switched to a strange place it was a room full of screens but I was looking at the one in the middle.

"So are you gonna try and stop us Claire?"

"My name is Avery and yes I'm going to stop you cause no matter how annoying and stupid my brother can be, I still love him!"

The griever on the screen almost killed him when they got it to back away.

Then I woke up in Homestead and Minho had just walked in and Clint and Jeff are looking at me like they saw a ghost.

"Hey, what's going on?" I asked.

"Y-you woke up?" Minho said as if he watched me die.

"Yeah, what's wrong?"

"Um, I didn't know if you were ever going to wake up it's been a few weeks."

"A FEW WEEKS!!"

"Yea."

"So when can I get back to running?"

"You aren't going back unless Alby let's you."

"SERIOUSLY!?"

At that I got up and stormed out to look for Alby. While I was looking for Alby I saw Newt, he had a really bad limp.

"Hey Newt." I waved at Newt while yelling at him to come over here.

"Good to see you awake." Newt says when he gets closer.

"Yeah, where's Alby? Minho said I should talk to him if I wanted to go back to being a runner." I tell him.

"Oh, he's getting ready to make a grave for Phoenix." Newt says, while tears running down his face, but he's trying not to show it.

"Oh I'll be going then." I say while starting to feel upset that I couldn't protect her or myself. At least I was able to protect my brother.

I walked off to the Deadheads to see if I could find Alby.

When I got there Alby was just finishing the grave.

"Hey Alby." Was all I said to greet him.

"Avery you're awake." He sounded startled.

"Yeah just woke up. So when can I be a runner again?" I asked.

"You want to be a runner again?"

"Yeah."

"Well, you can run again if you want but, Minho will tell you when you start."

"Okay bye." I say as I run off to find my idiot brother.

When I found him he was alone, I ran over to him and gave him a hug.

"Huh, what are you doing? Did getting stung mess you up in the head?" Minho asked.

"I'm hugging you first of all and second no I am not messed up in the head." I answered.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, very sure."

"Then why are you hugging me of all people?"

"Because you're my brother you dummy."

"What!?"

"I said you're my brother."

"How do you know this?"

"I got a few memories back from the changing."

"So what do you know."

"A lot of stuff that even I don't believe."

"So can you tell me some of it."

"I could, but I don't want to."

"Please."

"Ok, fine, I will tell you something's."

"Good."

"So in one of the memories I was in a vent with Phoenix and we were listening to a conversation between you and Newt, where you guys were talking about the fact that Newt and Phoenix had sex the night before and you were laughing Newt because he tried and tried to deny it."

Minho seemed disturbed that his younger sister aka me overheard a conversation like that.

"Oh and there was another one where you were making fun of me and a boy named Chuck don't know why, but the person who was talking mentioned you and some girl named Kat being together."

Chuck's Pov

I can't believe that she doesn't remember me but she remembers her stupid brother. I'm crying so hard right now. Phoenix walked over and gave me a hug and so did Thomas.

Minho's Pov

My little sister wow didn't expect that. So that's why she seems happier even though her closest friend is dead.

"Also the boy named Chuck kissed me just before I was sent into the maze." Avery tells me.

At this point I wanted to kill this Chuck person. But I could see something in Avery's eyes that tells me that she loves him.

"He did what." I whisper shouted

"Never mind forget we ever talked today okay and I'm running tomorrow." Was the last thing she said as she walked away.

Avery's Pov

I can't believe him he now is going to treat me like a child and I'm not one. I can't believe that he questioned me about something I don't even understand. I was walking very fast when I ran into a tree. I didn't mean to but I did.

I went pretty deep into the forest when I heard her voice in my head I looked around because I thought maybe someone else had come into the forest and was talking to themselves but no one was there.

"Avery I'm outside the maze and I'm not alone, I currently am using a device to talk to you in your mind. I have a mission that if I fail Chuck will die, so please don't mention me talking to you to anyone or else my mission would already have failed. Goodbye for now my friend."

Phoenix's Pov

I told her and she is confused, so I hope that she doesn't tell anyone or anything. I better get started.

Okay first I have to get in contact with Hollow. Then I have to get in contact with someone in Group B that is already in their maze. And then I break out and wait until my friends get out.

Avery's Pov

"How can I love someone that I don't even remember! I might die before I ever get to meet him again. I'm a runner, im probably going to die before I see him again. Why do I have to be in this stupid maze. What did I do to deserve this!" I start sobbing.

Newt's Pov

I went into the forest behind Homestead when I the sound of someone sobbing so I followed the sound until I stepped on a twig and it broke at that moment the sobbing stopped and I heard someone yell "Who's there?" I responded.

"It's me, Newt." I yelled back.

"Oh hi Newt." At that moment I realized I was talking to Avery.

"What's up?" I ask.

"Me." She says while waving down at me from the tree right beside me.

"I heard sobbing and I came this way." I told her.

"Sobbing? I don't know what you're talking about." She lied.

"You're lying and we both know it."

"Lying? I'm not lying. What are you talking about?"

"Yes you are lying you have tear streaks on your face."

"Shuck it, I give up."

"So you're telling me, you were trying to lie to me about you crying, honestly that's very interesting. Now why were crying?"

"I just really want out of the maze, and maybe we can solve it before anyone else gets killed. Like, what did we all do to deserve this."

"Maybe we all did something wrong, or maybe we are here because it's safer than the real world."

"Safer? Don't make me laugh. Honestly, there are walls trying to kill us, creatures trying to kill us, and we are never getting out. And what could we have done to get us imprisoned in this stupid place for life, I'm like, 11, remember?"

"I don't know maybe we just gotta complete this as if it's a challenge."

"Well, whatever. Just don't tell anyone about this conversation, ok? Please?"

"Sure, I won't say a thing. But why do you not want me to tell anyone?"

"No one can think I'm the slightest bit weak, especially not Alby or Minho."

"Oh, okay but one more question why is Minho on the list of especially not? I can understand Alby is the leader of the Glade and basically the one who helps give you a job but a change in Minho's mind doesn't really matter."

"Ummm..., well, uh, I just want to stay a runner, and Minho already threatened to kick me out of the runners after I got stung." I could tell Avery was not being entirely truthful.

"Why are you stuttering? Cause I already know you won't take no for a answer."

"Ok, Fine, I was lying again. But I'm not going to tell you anything until you promise me that you won't tell anyone, not yet, at least."

"Ok, I promise." I say with my fingers crossed behind my back.

"I just don't want Minho worrying about me, because he's my older brother."

"Wait, what! Never expected that, but hey, if it's true he's going to try to get you to run with him."

"Well, I don't have a running partner anymore, and he definitely won't want me out in the Maze alone. Probably thinks I'll go and get myself stung again. And I doubt he's going to mention that I saved him from getting stung."

"Very true, well good luck on dealing with him." I said just before walking away.

Chuck's Pov

She is crying I just want to be there by her side for the rest of eternity. I don't want her to get hurt aga

Alby's Pov

Newt is walking over to me, and I bet he's got something to say. Again

"Hey Alby, I think Avery is going a little bonkers." Newt tells me.

"Why do you say that?" I ask him.

"Because she thinks that she has a brother, who is in the Glade."

"Yeah she's definitely crazy."

Avery's Pov

I hear someone talking in the homestead. So i decide to go and listen in.

"She thinks that she has a brother, in the glade." I heard Newt say.

"Ya, she's definitely crazy." Alby replied.

Newt told Alby, about Minho being my brother, I'm going to kill him.

I had some help from my best friend she is quite the good story writer even though she says that she isn't. I wish she had wattpad so I could tell her how much I love her writing.
