Avery's Pov

"I was just walking out of the Deadheads after talking to Newt, for some reason he was mad at me. I was almost out of the Deadheads when Newt came up to me and he didn't say anything and I think he was just leaving too, when he said 'Why do you seem so mad at me?' And all I could think of was 'Because I might have just lost my sister forever, but you still have a chance to see Phoenix again.' That's what made him snap on me he got the worse of the injuries." Minho told me and I finally understand.

Minho made Newt mad, Newt reacted badly and they both got injured. Great.

"Minho I want to see Newt to make sure you didn't accidentally kill him."

I walked off guessing that they put him in the Slammer for injuring a fellow Glader, even though he was also injured.

I went up to the door and asked the boy who was guarding it to let me see Newt, he reluctantly said yes.

I walked in to see some injuries that looked like they will never, ever heal. His right leg (which is the leg with the limp) was bloody and clearly broken, and it looked like he got shot in the stomach and his left ankle, you could see the bone, blood was all over the floor and I thought I was gonna be sick.

Phoenix's Pov

I went over to Chuck and Thomas to see how their night went and when I entered that room my heart dropped on the main monitor Newt was sitting in the Slammer in a puddle of blood. My mind went blank, I felt a part of me die. What had happened? I didn't realize I was on the floor sobbing until Chuck was giving me a hug and Thomas looked uncomfortable, Teresa just stormed in as if she had watched the Flare eat a person.

"Why are you here?" She asked me.

"Cause I want to see what's going on in the Maze." I replied boldly while wiping my tears away.

"Um...you two had better stop fighting or I'll put klunk in your dinner" Chuck yelled at us.

"You know that it won't change the flavour, right?" I told him.

"Yeah." Teresa actually agreed with me.

"Well what happened?" I asked the boys.

"Last night, when you were dealing with Avery being in the Maze, we got to watch the biggest fight ever between"Phoenix was practically sitting on the edge of her seat now "Minho and Newt." Thomas started.

"WHAT!?" I shouted.

"Yeah Minho made him mad and it was awful, I can't truly understand why they were arguing in the first place. Newt got the worst of it while Minho will probably be complaining about how he 'didn't' start it." Chuck finished.

Avery's Pov

I almost ran out of there but I didn't, I walked closer to him, my mind trying to find something happy to focus on, but, I couldn't and the scene in front of me was worse the closer you get, the sound of blood dripping from his body made it even worse.

"Hey, Newt it's me Avery I just came to see how you were. I hope that these injuries aren't permanent, well see ya." I walked away as quick as I could right after.

I did something that even I wasn't expecting, I cut once, twice, three times, four, five, six, seven times, then I stop and return the knife to my runners bag.

-Time Skip-

A week has passed and both of the idiots are aloud to go around the Glade again but me, I won't be doing that ever again very soon.

After supper I went over to the Deadheads with some rope, I first tied the rope to a branch slightly taller than everyone else in the Glade since I'm shorter than everyone else it is the perfect height to hang myself.

"Hey Phoenix, are you proud of me?" I whispered

I climbed up to the branch and tied the rope around my neck tightly, and jumped it hurt and then it was blackness.

Newt's Pov

I saw Avery go into the Deadheads and after waiting for a little while I entered, to watch her jump. She was hanging but not dead yet, I pulled a knife out and cut the rope her body falling onto the ground. I decided to wait for her to wake up.

But before she woke up I had to see if she cut, her wrists were the first thing I checked, then the rest of her arms, next her ankles, then her legs and finally her chest.

She had cut up her wrists and ankles but nothing else. Why did she do this? Please wake up, don't be dead.

Then I felt her moving just ever so slightly, she was alive and at that moment that's all that mattered.

Avery's Pov

I started to wake up, damn it I failed didn't I. I looked up and saw that Newt was inspecting my wrists and that's when I realized it. He saved me, even though I didn't want saving. Just like how I made sure that Phoenix didn't try anything when we couldn't stop her, but she's still gone.

I felt him look me over to see if I cut I'm guessing, when I felt him lift my shirt and I almost lost it but I stayed still to keep up the act.

When he was done I decided to move slightly just to indicate I'm not dead and you didn't just waste your time.

He seems relieved that I'm not dead, maybe Minho put him up to taking care of me. If that's so he will pay, but if Newt just saw me hanging maybe he didn't think he just helped. At that moment I felt him push my hair off of my face and then he kissed me on the forehead.

Chuck's Pov

Avery just tried to hang herself nonononono this can't be she is my girlfriend she can't die not yet I love her too much.

"Chuck you okay?" Phoenix asked me.

"No." I said as my face became covered in tears.

Avery's Pov

"Why did you save me?" I spat at Newt.

"I'm not gonna just bloody let you turn into me or Phoenix!" He yelled back.

"Newt, what do you mean by you or Phoenix?" I asked curiousness eating me up.

"I got my limp from climbing the Maze walls and jumping but the thing is I didn't die." Explanation of a lifetime.

"Oh, and what did Phoenix do she didn't jump or hang or stab herself in a vital organ." I say clearly winning this...argument..no it's not an argument...um..conversation I guess?

"She slowly killed herself first not eating, second not sleeping and third cutting." Newt paid close attention to Phoenix. Wonder why? Oh who am I kidding he loved her too much to take his eyes off of her when they were together.

"Oh well can I leave?"

"Not until I know you aren't going to do this again."

"Can't make any promises."

"Then I'll tell Alby and Minho about what just happened."

"WHAT!?!?"

"Yup I will."

"You little bastard, you had better not, just keep your head down if you want to keep your balls."

"Y-you wouldn't really do that, would you?"

"Oh course I would."

"Seriously?!"

"Yup."

"You're bloody insane."

"I can remind you what happens after you mention it once?"

"No thank you, I would rather have all my parts at the end of the day."

"Can I say we're done here?"

"Y-yes."

"Good." I smiled evilly and got out of there.

Phoenix's Pov

I am so going to kill both of them next time I see them.

"Hey Chuck."

"What?"

I kiss him on the lips and then I start to grind him roughly at that moment Thomas and Teresa grabbed me by the arms and pulled me off of Chuck. I mutter to myself "Revenge is sweet."

"Make sure that I give you a letter for Avery when you go into the Maze okay?" I say like nothing just happened.

"S-sure." Chuck says clearly startled.
