Nickels pov

I wake up confused but extremely rested. It takes me a while to realise I'm in my bed and not outside. I sit up and try to make sense of how I got here, and then I spot balloon sitting on his bed on his phone. Then I remember, I fell asleep... ON HIS SHOULDER LAST NIGHT. OH NONONONONONONO THIS CAN'T BE. I ACTUALLY SLEPT ON H- 

"Good morning nickel :)" Balloon says, oblivious to the fact that I'm internally panicking.

I still haven't fully gotten over how he held me yesterday after he accidentally bumped into me yesterday. I feel the red disease coming back to my face. THIS GUY IS MAKING ME GO CRAZY ISTG. 

I realise I haven't replied to balloon yet and I look up to see him looking slightly confused. I can't mess this up, I gotta be smooth.

"OH-oh sorry good mOrning" I realise my throat is really dry and I'm getting voice cracks. THAT WAS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF SMOOTH- NICKEL YOU DUMBA-

Balloons pov

I slightly giggle at nickels voice crack. He covers his mouth (A/N: WITH HIS FOOT... I THINK? IDK) and his face flushes a pink colour. His throat seems to be dry so I pass him my water bottle. 

"It happens to the best if us, don't worry" I say, to comfort him. He takes the bottle and drinks out of it like he never drank before. I wonder why he's so thirsty?

"Please forget that ever happened" nickel says, slightly embarrassed.

"It's fine nickel, it was actually kinda c-" I freeze. I WAS NOT ABOUT TO SAY THAT.. OUT LOUD. Nickel stops mid drink and looks at me, raising his eyebrow. But there is a VERY noticeable blush colouring his face. He puts down the bottle and looks at me straight in the eye.

"Finish that thought" he says, smirking

"Wha-I UH, i- IM GONNA USE THE BATHROOM ONE SEC". I rush into the bathroom and slide down the door, covering my face. GREAT BALLOON. YOU HAD TO SAY THAT OUT LOUD. I didn't even finish the sentence though, but I hope he didn't figure out what I was going to say. WHO AM I KIDDING, HE LITERALLY SMIRKED AFTER. I guess.. I'll just tell him that was a verbal mistake, yknow, when you slip over your words. I hope he believes it. But what was that blush on his face? I mean, anyone would blush if you ALMOST CALLED THEM CUTE. But it didn't look like that kind of blush. Wha- now i don't even know what I'm saying. I get up and look in the mirror. There was only a light pink shade across my face. I guess it's safe to go out now..

I step outside the bathroom, expecting nickel to throw a sarcastic or witty remark at me about my sudden outburst. Instead, he was... sleeping? Well he was certainly on his bed, face down. 

"I-im going down to breakfast, if you're awake?"

-no reply-

Alright then... 

I leave him there and go downstairs.

Nickels pov

I look up as I hear the room door close. Great, it worked. I physically could not face balloon after he called me... cute? Almost? I actually don't know. I don't think he did. I mean, why would he? It's not like he likes me... 

I make sure I'm not a crazy blushing mess before I go downstairs for breakfast. When i arrive downstairs, i look at the dining table. Some people were already there, like test tube, tissues, fan, and paper. My seat was next to balloons, and I saw him there, sitting and staring off into the distance. I go and sit down next to him.

Suddenly paintbrush comes downstairs and starts urgently telling everyone something. I look in their direction and tried to read their lips but they were too far away. No need to though, because they eventually came to balloon and I.

"Hey paintbrush" balloon greets.

"Hey guys, can you two do a favour for me?" paintbrush says.

Balloon replies "sure" while i say "depends". 

Paintbrush takes out two envelopes with hearts on both. They were labelled 'test tube' and 'fan' and it was written that the letters were from the other.

"I'm going to give these love notes to test tube and fan to finally get them together. If they ask you ANYTHING, you don't know, okay?" They continue. 

"Sure! We won't say a thing" balloon reassures paintbrush.

"About time those nerds get together." I retort.

Paintbrush starts talking again but I'm distracted by how balloon is paying attention so well. He's nodding and everything. I realise I'm staring AGAIN and not even listening so I turn my attention back to paintbrush.

"Thanks guys" they say, as they walk off. 

"I genuinely can't wait till it happens" balloon tells me.

What happens? I'm about to ask balloon but more people started coming to the table and breakfast was being served. I just decided to ask him later and we ate our breakfast while having some light conversation.

A while later, we hear some commotion behind the hotel. Balloon somehow already knew what was going on and he rushed me into the bushes.

"WHA- HEY WHERE ARE WE GOING?" i shout. Balloon shushes me and starts giggling as we hide in the bush. We met paintbrush there, and lightbulb too. 

"Lightbulb.. Why are you here?" i say

"C'mon, nickel.. I would miss anything to see this" she says, slightly giddy.

"LB calm down, they're gonna see us!" paintbrush scolds, but happily.

Who?

"Balloon, why am I here?" i say. 

"I wanted to see this with you!" he says back.

I blush slightly at his enthusiasm, and paintbrush seems to notice and smirks at me. I give them a 'don't you dare say anything' look. 

A few more people come and at this point, I'm even more confused on why I'm here and what is going on. Then I realise this has probably got to do with whatever paintbrush was saying at breakfast, when I wasn't paying attention.

Lightbulb starts getting even more excited and says "painty look! They're here!" Paintbrush pulls her down and they both start peering through the gaps in the bush. Balloon finds a spot where we could both sit comfortably and he gestures to me to come there. We both start looking through the bushes.

Test tube is standing there, and she seems to be looking for someone. She had the love note in her hand. As she waited, she started reading it and covered her face, blushing madly. I almost fake retched, but I didn't because that would've blown our cover. Fan came from the other side and he was also reading his note. He almost bumped into test tube but he stopped right in front of her. He looked up and upon realising how close they were, he stumbled back and almost fell. Test tube caught him though, and they stared at each other for a good thirty seconds, before test tube decided to close the gap and kiss him. 

I stopped looking at this point because I'm really not into this stuff. I looked around to see what everyone else was doing. Paintbrush was recording the whole scene while lightbulb looked like she was about to explode in happiness. Even oj was here, I didn't think he'd leave all that hotel work for this. Paper was with him, melting in happiness for them. Why did so many people want to see this? Well, the entire population of the hotel was waiting for fantube to happen... I guess that's why. 

I watch balloon as he looks at the new couple, with stars in his eyes. I think he's really into romance and stuff, and obviously he was also waiting for this moment for a while now. Some of the conversations we had were about these ships as well. I kept looking at him, and then I looked at fan and test tube. They were laughing with each other now. I look at balloon again. Ireallywishthatwasusrightnow. WHAT IS WITH THESE THOUGHTS. I feel my face becoming warmer and I look away. I notice paintbrush looking at me again, raising their eyebrow. 

"Don't." I say to them. 

"What was that?" balloon asks

"I-uh- it wa- it was nothing" I say, stumbling over my words. I realise I could've possibly said it too loud, and I look back at fan and test tube. Luckily they were too busy talking to notice. Paintbrush smirks again and then whispers to lightbulb, slightly laughing. I swear I'm going to kill them.

After a bit, fan and test tube walk back into the hotel holding hands, and we all scatter out of the bushes. Paintbrush hugs lightbulb goodbye and I walk back to our room with balloon. It was a long day after all, just sitting in those bushes. The only thing I liked was watching balloon fanboy over the new couple.

BONUS:

Paintbrushes pov:

After I get back into my room, fan runs in excited. 

"Guess what paintbrush! Test tube and I are dating now!!" 

"Glad you're finally together, fan." I fake gasp

"I couldn't stand how awkward you two were being around each other"

"HEY! Well, fair enough actually" he says.

I think before I say the next sentence. 

"Fan, you know nickel and balloon right?"

"Yeah.."

"Have you noticed they aren't mad at each other anymore"

"I've noticed way more paintbrush. Have you seen the way they look at each other? They're so in love"

"You can figure out that they like each other, but you can't realise that test tube likes you? Wow fan"

"C'mon paintbrush, that's different" fan laughs.
