Chapter 7

                          Luna

"When is the meeting?" Mama asks through the computer screen. I was woken up to my laptop ringing with a Skype call. As soon as I recognized who it was, I immediately answered, excited to talk to my mother.

"I meet with the architect today at 1:30," I answer, glancing at the clock on the other side of the room.

"Have you been eating? Do I need to come down there and force feed you?" She raise an eyebrow at me.

I giggle and shake my head. "I'm fine, Mama. I've been eating well."

"Yeah whatever, Lu. Aurora misses you."

"I miss her too! Give her hugs and kisses for me!" I grin at the mention of my beautiful pup.

"Will do," she nods. We continue to talk about our lives for a while before she sighs and prepares to end the call. "I have to head into the restaurant and you need to get ready for the meeting. I'll talk to you later, Luna. Good luck!" She smiles.

"Bye, Mama!" I wave and end the call. I bounce into the living room and use the telephone to order room service. It takes me a minute to decide what I want but I eventually decide on cinnamon oatmeal with a glass of orange juice. Nothing too much. Just a little something to tie me over until after the meeting. Once my food arrives, I quickly gobble it down and head into the bathroom to get ready. I hop into the shower and scrub myself with my favorite vanilla body wash from back home. After finishing my shower, I do the rest of my hygiene routine then dig through my suitcase for a nice outfit. I decide on a denim button up along with a pair of black ripped jeans and white canvas sneakers.

It's not long before I'm exiting my hotel and making my way down the street. Over the past few days, I've grown accustomed to walking places. Of course, I haven't been anywhere but to get food but I think I've gotten the hang of walking everywhere. I also learned that New Yorkers are, in fact, quite rude. I guess no one around here learned how to say 'pardon me' when trying to get somewhere.

My feet take me quite a few blocks away until I stop in front of a tall glass building. I check the map on my phone to make sure I'm at the right place before I head inside.

                        Adrian

"Mr. Hafler, your 1:30 meeting is here," I hear my secretary say through the intercom in my office. I groan and close my sketchbook.

"Send them up," I reply, placing the book in its respectable drawer. Of course this meeting was placed during my drawing time. That's another bad thing to add onto this day. It was barely past noon and I was already having a terrible day. It started off with me waking up too late to make it to work on time. Then, Riot decided to run around the house and well...start a riot. After that, my car broke down on the way to work which left me with no other option but to hail a cab. And now, my drawing time is getting interrupted by another stupid meeting.

F*ck me.

I hear a quiet knock on my office door before Tia pokes her head in. "Mr. Hafler? I'm here to bring in you're client."

"Alright," I nod and look down at my desk as the person walks in and shuts the door. As soon as I look up, my heart drops. My eyes land on the most beautiful person I've ever seen.

The boy from the park. The boy who ran into me. The Queen of My Heart.

I'm so cringeworthy.

I take a moment to stare at him and take in all of his features. He has beautiful caramel skin which complements his brown, almond shaped eyes. A bundle of thick, dark brown, curly hair was sitting on top of his head. My eyes roam down as I take note of his seemingly casual outfit.

I guess I was staring for a bit too long because all of a sudden, he was snapping his fingers in my face. "H-Hello?" he muttered.

"Oh! Sorry!" I sighed, snapping back to reality. "I guess I zoned out."

His cheeks began to turn red. "I-It's okay. U-Um...hi, I'm Luna Petit."

Luna, huh? Beautiful name for a beautiful person.

"Adrian Hafler," I put my hand out for him to shake. He gently takes my hand and shakes it before sitting down in the chair that was on the opposite side of my desk. I sat down as well and pulled out two books: one for notes and one for sketching.

"Uh my mother called not too long ago about expanding our family restaurant. Does the name Alyssa ring a bell?" he asked, biting his lip. Oh god, don't do that...

I clear my throat. "Oh yeah! Well, we can start off today with the basics."

"Great!" Luna grins, folding his hands in his lap. We take some time to go over the basics of the restaurant. As we talk, I write down notes and begin to sketch a draft of the layout.

"So something like this?" I turn my sketchbook so it faces him. I'd drawn a quick sketch of the exterior of the building.

"Hm..." he furrows his brows as he stares at the picture. "yeah, I like that.." he finally smiled.

"Great," I grinned and shut my sketchbook. "I can go make a few copies of this in case you want to show it to your parents?"

A bright smile forms on his gorgeous face. "Oh that would be wonderful! Are you able to fax it to them?" I nod and head over to the fax machine in the corner of my office. I quickly fax a copy of the sketch to Luna's parents and make another copy for Luna, himself. Once finished, I hand him the piece of paper and slide the original sketch into one of my file cabinets. Once we finished exchanging all information needed for me to begin working on their project, Luna spoke up, "so when are you available to meet up again?"

I glance at my schedule, which has been recently updated by Tia, before answering, "I'm available on Monday at noon, if that's alright with you."

"Yeah that sounds great!" Luna smiles. "I'll see you around Mr. Hafler!" he waves and exits my office. As he leaves, I am hit with a slight whiff of his sweet vanilla scent. A smile grows on my face as I begin to clean up all of the files and sketches on my desk. I organize them back into their respectable folders before paging Tia and telling her to bring me my lunch. It isn't long before she's walking into my office with two bags and waters in her hand. I gently grab the waters from her and set them down on my desk.

"And what's the theme for lunch today, Mrs. Johnson?" I raise an eyebrow as I crack open one of the water bottles and take a sip.

"Well, I've decided that since it's spring time, we should go with something healthy. Gotta keep that summer body in check," Tia winks as she pulls two salads out of the bag. She hands one of them to me before plopping down in the seat across from me. We enjoy our lunch, occasionally making stupid jokes and having pointless conversations. Soon enough, we're both finished and it's time for us to get back to our work.

"I'll see you later, Mr. Hafler!" Tia smiles as she exits my office for the last time of the day. It took a while but my day was finally coming to a close and it was time to go home. I pack up all of my items and organize them back into their cabinets before grabbing my phone from the desk. It was quite hot outside today so I didn't have to bring a jacket. This left me with nothing but my phone and keys in hand as I exited my office, making sure to turn off the lights and lock the door. I step onto the elevator, listening to the soothing music before exiting on the bottom floor. As I begin to make my way out of the building, I hear a faint voice yell out my name.

"Mr. Hafler!" I hear footsteps from behind me. I turn around to face none other than a red-faced Josh. No...I just wanna go home...

I internally roll my eyes. "Yes, Joshua?" I sigh, putting all of my weight on one leg, tilting my head to the side.

"U-Uh, how was your day, sir?" Josh asks, fiddling around with one of the straps on his bag.

"It was pretty good," I give him a small smile. "How was yours?"

"I-It was okay," he shrugs. Why the hell is this kid always stuttering? "Anyway...I-I was wondering if you'd like to go out to d-dinner with me on Saturday."

"Josh, you know how I feel about having close relationships like that with enployees.."

"Y-Yeah I know but still..." josh sighed, looking down. "I just really like you, Mr. Hafler..."

"Josh–"

"Please? Just one night," the blue eyed man looked up at me desperately.

"Fine," I sigh, standing up straight. "One night. Don't mess it up."

Joshua excitedly hops up and down before pulling me into a quick hug. "I promise I won't disappoint!"

"Whatever, Joshua," I laugh and pull away from him. "I'll see you tomorrow." I exit the building and head to my Uber which has been waiting outside for the past few minutes. As I ride home, I begin to think.

What the hell did I just get myself into...
