Chapter 10
Adrian
"What are you cleaning up for?" Naomi asks, sitting down on my freshly washed counter. I wrap my arms around her and pull her down. I roll my eyes and continue to wipe down the counter before throwing the towel in the laundry room. She walks over to the other side of the kitchen and picks up a candle that I had lit. "This smells good. I'm taking it," she says and blows it out, putting the lid on it.
"Ah! Stop touching stuff!" I screech and grab the candle from her. I light it and place it back in its place.
"What is all of this for anyway?" Dakota asks as she grabs a water from my fridge. I ignore her question, heading up the stairs to go take a shower. Once I'm done, I decide to throw on a navy blue hoodie with light blue jeans that cuff at the ankle. I slip on a pair of white vans and spray myself with an expensive cologne. Once I'm dressed and smelling nice, I put on my gold watch and grab my phone, heading back downstairs. Dakota and Naomi are now sitting on my couch, watching television. When they see me, Dakota raises an eyebrow. "Seriously, what's up with you? You're pretty dressed up to be babysitting."
"Baby sitting?" I question, furrowing my brows. I plop down on the loveseat.
"Yea. Dad said you promised to watch Logan and Ava today," she tells me, referring to my step-brother's kids.
I gasp, remembering the conversation with my father. "Oh crap! I forgot!"
"What did you have planned for today, anyway?" Naomi asks, snatching Dakota's water bottle from her and taking a sip.
"I was supposed to be having company today..." I groan. "Can you guys watch them? Please?"
"Oh hell no," Naomi shakes her head. "I hate kids."
"Guys...please..." I whine. "I really like this guy..."
Dakota groans. "Fine...but I'm only keeping them until six."
"Thank you!" I squeak. Naomi rolls her eyes as I flash her a sweet smile. "I love you."
"Whatever," She groans and stands up. "See you later," she says as she and Dakota exit my house. I look down as I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket.
Luna❤️: I'm almost at your house. Can you come outside and wait for me?
Me: of course
I quickly run into the laundry room where I spot Riot in his kettle. "Please be good," I whisper before leaving the house. As I step outside, a silver car pulls into my driveway. I stand in the my doorway and smile when I see a small, curly headed figure climbing out of the backseat.
"Bye Mr. Uber Driver Man!" Luna waves and giggles as the car pulls off. He runs up to me with a bright grin on his face. "Hi Adrian!"
"Someone's energized," I chuckle. "Good afternoon, Luna."
"Sorry..." he bites his lip as I open the door to the house. I follow him inside, taking a glance at his outfit. He is wearing a large white sweater paired with a pair of light ripped jeans. "I had a lot of candy this morning."
"It's fine," I shrug. I furrow my brows as I hear a light pattering noise before I see Riot running down the hallway.
"Hi buddy!" Luna giggles and drops down to play with the pup. Riot instantly runs into Luna's arms. "He's so cute! What's his name?"
"Riot," I reply with a sigh. I grab him and hold him so we're face to face. "Riot, I locked you up and said be good. How the hell did you even get out?"
"He's a genius," Luna answers for him. He takes Riot from me and cuddles him into his chest. "And a cutie pie so don't scold him," he frowns at me.
"Alright alright," I laugh and lead him to the kitchen. "Here is your territory."
"Jeez," Luna groans. "I can't even get time to settle down first."
"Oh I'm sorry. We can wa–"
Luna cuts me off with a soft giggle. "I was kidding. I'll get started," he gently places Riot on the ground and heads over to my fridge. He opens it, stares for a while, closes it and looks back at me. "How am I expected to cook if you have no ingredients?"
"I didn't know what you needed!" I defend, leaning back against the counter. "I can take you to the store if you want me to."
Luna frowns. "Can I cook for you some other time? I don't feel like cooking right now."
I open the fridge to grab a water, handing one to him. "You were supposed to come over to cook and you don't feel like cooking?"
"I thought you just wanted to hang out with me," Luna pouts.
"I was kidding. I do wanna hang out with you!"
"No you don't. You're a poophead."
"I promise I do."
"First you invite me to your home and don't even give me a hug when I come–" I cut him off by swiftly wrapping my arms around him and pulling him into a tight hug. He squeals when I lift him up into the hug. "Put me down!"
I set him back on the ground with a smirk. "You said you wanted a hug."
"But I didn't ask you to pick me up!" Luna scolds, crossing his arms over his chest. "You just like to torture me."
I raise an eyebrow. "Shall I do it again?"
"No! Please!" he screeches as I pick him up again, carrying him over to the couch while he kicks and screams. I drop him onto the sofa with a laugh and plop down next to him. He glares at me. "Poophead."
"Is that your only insult?"
He looks away, biting his lip and playing with his fingers shyly. "...maybe..." he whispers.
"Why not 'asshole' or something?"
He gasps at my language and winces. "That's a bad word!"
I furrow my brows. "Yeah? So what?"
"I'm not gonna say a bad word."
"So you don't swear?" I ask. He shakes his head. "I didn't know that. I guess there's a lot I don't know about you though..."
Luna's brown eyes widen at my statement and he excitedly sits up straight. "Let's play 21 questions!"
His excitement and child-like demeanor causes an almost-instant smile to form on my face. "Sure. You first."
"Ooh! How many siblings do you have?"
"I have one real sister, one step-sister and one step-brother. What about you?"
"I only have a younger sister," he shrugs, frowning. He kicks off his sneakers and tucks his panda sock clad feet under his bottom.
"Panda socks? Really?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Sshh! Don't judge me," Luna whines and glances down at them. "Now ask me a question."
"What is your life like back in England?" My heart clenches when I see the soft grin appear on his face.
"Well I'm always with my parents cause I live with them and I work for them. I also spend a lot of time with my best friend Gio. He's great."
We continue playing the game for a while, learning quite a lot about each other. I learn that he doesn't have a great relationship with his sister and he wants to be a chef. I also learn that the main reason he is on this trip is to prove how responsible he is to his parents. After playing the game, we have a meaningful conversation about other goals and aspirations that we have set for ourselves. While this is happening, I begin to realize just how much I like him. Luna is such a ball of sunshine and I hope to eventually make him mine.
"You wanna watch a movie?" I ask, grabbing the remote once we're done playing the game. Luna nods and plays with his fingers. I quickly choose a movie that I know we would both like, Aladdin. As the movie begins, I notice Luna looking down at his hands instead of at the screen. I grab the remote and press pause. "What's wrong?" I poke his side.
He immediately looks up and notices I paused the movie. "Huh? Oh! Nothing..it's stupid," he gives me a small smile.
"I'm sure it's not stupid. What's wrong?" I ask again.
"I-It's just that..." he starts with a sigh before letting his voice fall into a whisper, "I can't watch a movie without a cuddle buddy.."
"Oh..." I respond, not knowing exactly what to say.
"See? I told you it was stupid...I'm sorry.." he glances around the room, avoiding eye contact.
I shake my head with a smile before opening my arms. "Come on." He looks at me with a confused expression before his eyes light up. He scoots over to me and cuddles into my side with a slight blush on his face. As he settles into my arms, I get a whiff of his vanilla scent causing me to take a deep breath. I secure my arms around his waist before playing the movie. Halfway through, I hear soft snores coming from the gorgeous boy cuddled into me. I smile as I realize he has fallen asleep. Not long after, I feel my own eyes getting heavy and eventually closing.
