That's how the story should have gone. Juliet's father is abusive. Her mother is a drunk. Of course, the kingdom knows only the the image the media shows, and that is the image of a perfect royal family.

But her father takes out his stress on his wife and daughter. Her mother does nothing to defend Juliet, and instead drowns her sorrows in alcohol. The castle staff suspect, but stay silent in fear of punishment.

Juliet has lived in pain for nineteen long years. The king has announced a Selection, an old tradition that had been practiced for many generations, to keep up appearances. Juliet agreed, knowing that the company would end her suffering for a short time.

Thousands of men from the seven islands applied for a chance at the princess's hand in marriage, and for a chance to be the future prince consort of the nation. It was unknown to them that the lucky seven had already been handpicked by the king himself.
