CHARACTER ARC:
Yasmine Sharaf was born in Irbid, Jordan, along with her younger sister. Her mother was a well-known poet and her father was a forensic scientist. Yasmine looked up to them both and often feared that she would never live up to their expectations. She always felt the need to over perform and constantly look out for her sister and her parents were harsh on her about her grades.
One day, when Yasmine was a teenager, she had to take her sister to school because their father was at work and their mother was sick. Tragically, on the way there, Yasmine's sister ran out into traffic and was fatally hit by an unsuspecting driver. Yasmine's parents blamed her for her sister's death and kicked her out, only adding to her trauma and guilt. She contemplated suicide, but never went through with it because it was against her religion.
Instead, she studied hard enough to receive a scholarship to university and attained a bachelor's degree in Forensics. She moved to America to find better work and to get away from the bad memories that her home gave her.
She traveled to Washington D.C. for a case, which is how she met the two leaders of the Medico-Legal Lab and started working with them. She decided to stay in D.C..
