jihoon hated a lot of things, ranging from the color yellow to more important things like politicians. to say he was a pretty cynical person was putting it lightly, because quite frankly jihoon was more negative than nancy herself. name anything and jihoon would probably hate it. grapes? they were too round and jihoon nearly choked on one once at age 4. dogs? they were too loud and required too much attention. people? no, just no.
the thing jihoon hated most of all though was the fact that his parents refused to pay for his existence as soon as he reached his teenage years. their excuse was that jihoon needed to learn what true responsibility meant now that he was getting older, which would have been a fine explanation had it not been for the couple vacations his parents started taking more frequently coincidentally right after they announced that. it was a load of bullshit; they knew it and so did jihoon.
which was why when jihoon asked his parents to buy him new music equipment, he was not surprised at all to hear them pull the classic 'get a job and buy it yourself' line. of course, because jihoon was just keen on spending his summer wasting away at some job that exploited its child workers. he was barely even seventeen! where the hell was he supposed to work?
"you do realize that you're going to have to get a job eventually, so it might as well be now." jihoon set his phone down beside him to make sure that seungcheol definitely saw the death stare he was giving the older male.
"and you do realize that I really don't care at all for your input, nor did I ask for it so if you could kindly shut your trap seungcheol I would greatly appreciate it." jihoon exhaled deeply, rubbing his temples to calm himself down. his therapist did tell him that the best way to deal with tomfoolery like the shit seungcheol was pulling was to take deep breaths, though it wasn't helping. jihoon still seemed to be annoyed by seungcheol's existence, or well by everyone's existences.
just everyone around him seemed to be enhancing the headache he went to bed and woke up with. jihoon was surprised he even managed to get the little sleep he did get last night. the loud classroom, half-filled with his fellow classmates who were bustling with those last week of school jitters was overwhelming. honestly it was nice to see that jeonghan, who sat right at the desk behind his and seungcheol's with his head down, was also feeling overwhelmed as well by all the student activity.
"aren't you going to say anything in my honor?" seungcheol frowned, turning behind him to nudge jeonghan from where he rested his head down on his desk. the brunette groaned softly and lifted his head.
"cheol that was about the nicest jihoon gets with his insults, take the win and leave it at that." jeonghan closed his eyes. not only jeonghan was not big on mornings, but he was also not fond of bright lights or loud noises. whereas it was just a personal preference for jihoon, jeonghan often got earth shattering migraines that were sometimes triggered by both bright lights and intense noises. "besides I don't like to deal with bullshit until I've had my coffee, where the fuck have you been?" jeonghan let out a breath of relief once seungkwan entered the classroom with his cold brew in hand.
"there were mad bitches at starbucks, and of course bambam just had to be at the front of the line with his long ass order. I feel really bad for that new worker they hired, the poor guy had to deal with bambam." seungkwan took a long sip from his americano, shuddering at the taste of the cold coffee hitting his tongue. it was to be expected from the new guy who couldn't tell the cash register from the coffee machine. literally, seungkwan had to walk the poor kid through making his order; starbucks should be paying him at this point.
seungkwan set down his coffee, not really keen on having to finish the rest of it, to face his friends. the blonde sophomore looked seriously at the group, "who even orders a triple ristretto affogato venti with 7 bananas and 5 shots of expresso?! that worker looked like he wanted to cry when bambam made him redo the order."
"if that's his order that honestly explains so much. not to mention I'd cry too if I was forced to interact with that human abomination." seungcheol rolled his eyes in disgust. he hated coffee in general, let alone those complex coffee orders. seungcheol preferred a nice cup of orange juice in the mornings, maybe even milk on those lazy mornings when he was feeling like a bowl of cereal.
"sup scoups." seungcheol turned his head and nodded at the tall sophomore as he passed. he could tell immediately by the vivid color of pink on the head of the sophomore that it was bambam himself. seungcheol completely missed the completely baffled expressions on his friends' faces as he smiled warmly at bambam.
"oh hey bam! how does it go?" bambam uttered a quick 'good' right before rushing off to greet another close friend of his. seungcheol waved the younger off with a chuckle, returning his attention to his friends. he was surprised to find them all watching him. jeonghan shook his head and sighed. "what?"
"I guess starbucks isn't an option." jihoon looked back down at his phone, exiting one of the many tabs he had open on his web browser. to be honest though it wasn't like he was dying to work at that franchise. there were a lot of cons for working at starbucks, including having to see all the regulars there like bambam and seungkwan every morning. it was bad enough he had to see them every day this school year in this class they shared. jihoon would be damned if he had to see them every day of this summer as well.
"are we still job hunting for jihoon? didn't I tell you my aunt is more than happy to hire you at her seafood restaurant?" seungkwan gave jihoon a side glance before unconsciously reaching and taking a sip of his chilled beverage. his face scrunched up into an expression of disgust once the bitter drink passed through his lips, "nope, nope, not doing that again."
"and didn't I tell you that I'd rather jab both my eyes out wth crab legs than be forced to work an entire summer alongside you?" jihoon huffed, "the lack of brain cells you and cheol have really sends me over the edge."
"nobody ever said they were smart, and jihoon don't worry about it. you know the mall always has a ton of job openings come summer." jeonghan tried his best to comfort jihoon. he settled for a nice pat on jihoon's back though. there was only so much comforting jeonghan could do while dealing with what was developing into a minor migraine for him. the brunette took a small sip of his cold brew, "wow this shit is bitter."
"so am I jeonghan. it's the end of the year and I am still forced to come in and teach you kids god knows what. we literally have 6 days of school left just let us go. put me out my misery." the classroom of students who were still early to class despite it being their last week of school, those nerds, turned to face their teacher at the front of the classrom. she set down a cup of coffee embroided with the starbucks logo. a few friend groups in the classroom broke off into their respective conversations, not bothered by their teacher's entrance. "though I do get paid to be here so the real losers here are you all."
"gee thanks ma'am." bambam's sarcastically charged voice piped up from the back of the classroom.
"no problem bambam, though I have a bone to pick with you. why the hell are you out here holding up the starbucks line at 7 in the morning?" the teacher glared at the student, reminiscing back to her memory of this morning when she was oh-so close to murdering the pink haired individual right in front of a starbucks. when she became a teacher all those years ago she'd never imagined she'd ever have such a thought like that about a student. she loved bambam though, when she wasn't actively plotting his sweet death in her mind.
"I don't know why you guys expect anything great from a guy named bambam." seungcheol mumbled to his friend group, earning yet another series of confused glances from them.
"isn't he literally best friends with bam?!?" seungkwan raised an eyebrow as seungcheol waved again at bambam with honey eyes. he began to question why he even was friends with seungcheol, or jihoon for that matter who was still scrolling through the tabs on his web browser. "also jihoon, remind me again. what do you even need the money for? aren't you an only child with rich parents unlike some of us who have 3 sisters and have to scrounge around for leftovers?" seungkwan held his right hand on his chest, "I'm talking about me if you didn't realize."
"yeah my parents have money, but they spend it on anything but their son apparently." jihoon rolled his eyes. his parents were probably planning what cruises to go on at this moment, those selfish assholes.
"same though, I'd go on 5 trips to the bahamas if it meant avoiding having to parent a kid like you."
"that's it." jihoon growled, standing up abruptly. seungcheol knew better than to stay sitting when an angry jihoon was around lunging at him from the other side of his desk. although jihoon was short, he made up for his height deficiency with his agility. the class practically ignored the two as they wrestled right in front of their teacher's desk as it wasn't a rare occurance at all to see the two friends fighting it out. hell, even their teacher was egging them on!
well until her boss showed up right at the doorframe of the classroom with a concerned expression on his face.
"it's not 8 yet so this right here is not my problem." she held her hands up, causing for the school's principal to bury his head in his own hands with a sigh as he realized he'd have to be the one to get in between the fighting students.
