Chapter 2
The next few weeks they all became closer and easily slipped into a routine. Betty introduced the boys to her only friends in the city; Veronica and Kevin. Today Betty had a class in the morning and a shift at a coffee shop afterwards. So when she woke up she went about her morning routine and walked into the kitchen to have breakfast. She awoke with a headache and a sore throat but didn't want to give into the idea that she was sick. Her face was pale and she was burning up. She searched the cupboards for breakfast and finally decided on some cereal. The boys Who were sitting watching tv were carefully eyeing her, she could barely lift herself up, they knew she was sick. "Hey Betts?" Jug called to her. "Yeah?" "Ermm Are you okay?" He replied. "Yeah you don't look to good" Reggie added. "What? I'm fine" she tried to convince them but it didn't work. Archie got up and went over to where she was sitting at the counter and felt her forehead. "Jeez betts! Your possible burning" he shouted. The others got up and felt her head and then agreed with Archie. "Guys I'm fine okay? It's nothing some medicine won't fix now I have to go to class see you later" she said while leaving the apartment. Betty didn't want to admit but the more the day progressed the worse she felt. After her class finished she headed for her shift at the coffee shop but her boss took one look at her and sent her home with her best wishes for her to get better. Once she got outside she realised there was no way she was going to make it home without collapsing out of exhaustion so she called the apartment for one of the boys to pick her up. 10 minutes later Archie pulled up in her truck and she climbed in and they drove back home. " I told you that you should've stayed at home" he joked as they pulled up into the apartment. Betty just glared in response. "But seriously Betts are you okay?" He asked as they climbed out the truck. "I feel terrible" she sobbed, the exhaustion and headache finally getting to her. Archie pulled her into a quick hug before he helped her up to the apartment. When they opened the door Reggie and jug made a joke about her finally giving into the idea of being sick, not realising she was crying. She slammed the door shut and ran into her room. "Dudes!" Archie yelled when her door shut. "What?" Reggie asked. "She's clearly upset and she really doesn't look good we need to make her feel better not worse" Archie said. "We will, we will make it up to her" Jug said, Reggie agreeing. Jug made his way to her room, knocking gently. When she open the door her hair was out of pony tail and she had care bear pyjamas on and her face was pale and her eyes were red from crying. "I'm sorry betts" he apologised. "It's fine sorry I'm just tired" She replied. "Well then come on there's some soup and a movie with your name on it" he smiled and she followed him into the living room where Archie was sat on the couch, she sat next to him and jug sat next to her and they covered her with a blanket and Reggie handed her a bowl of soup before sitting in the arm chair. "Thanks Reggie" she smiled. "No problem, and I'm sorry if I upset you" she told him it was fine and they put on a Disney film while she ate her soup. Betty was so grateful for her new found family. After her soup, her eyelids became heavy and she leaned her head into Jugheads shoulder and she fell into a deep sleep.
