"I can't believe you joined the Serpents." I pace back and forth, casting glares at the black jacket and scowling at the raven haired boy.

Jughead flopped onto the sofa, beanie in his hand,"Look Betty, I had no choice. But that's just a label, okay? Anyway, it's not like you'll understand."

He grabbed hot dog and took out some treats from his pocket, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness. It was like every action he did, feeding that stupid dog or riding that motorbike made him closer to the serpents, but one step further from me.

"Serpents kill people, Jughead. You're not a murderer." I blink furiously, trying to stop the tears from spilling.

"We don't kill, Betty. We just deal with people." Jughead stares cooly at me, his voice laced with impatience, an a hint of frustration. He didn't want me here.

"The Serpents hurt our friends, Jug. They hurt Archie, and the rest of the football team! Do you call that dealing with people? Your Serpents endangered their lives!" I shouted, and the boy flinched, an ugly look on his face. Fuck, fuck, fuck.

I had hurt his feelings, and we both knew there was no taking back what I had said.

My heart was thumping in my chest, and there was this horribly loud silence in the air.

"Jug?" I peek up from my lashes, but the boy looked away, his expression unreadable. I'm so sorry, so so sorry.

"Get out, Betty." The cold tone stung worse than the freezing temperatures outside.

"Jug, I- I'm sorry."

"Get. Out." I grabbed my bag and casted one last glance at him.

He didn't budge.

I didn't feel the painful rain beat down on me as I walked back home, nor hear the agonising howl of the wind. All I could think about was him, and how he could never be able to love me, for as long as he was a Serpent.
